I’ve been watching the business out in California as regards that crash between a Fed-Ex Double pup, and the bus. I have to tell you that I’m not impressed with how this investigation is going this far. I suppose the reasons for this are bit less than obvious, so let me explain a little and perhaps help you understand.
I used to drive for US Xpress years ago, during that time in California were not unusual. Usually, interstate 40 was the preferred path. During that time frame one of the things I learned was that there are a number of trucking companies that tend to run faster on the highway. See if you can notice a pattern among them…. UPS, Fed-Ex, Yellow/Roadway and a few others. I could have my foot bolted to floor doing to truck would allow in terms of speed and still get blown into the weeds by these guys and their Double Pup trailer configs, such as the one that hit the bus the other day.
Since switching to a local and then a regional status with my current carrier, Ive seen a lot of the same symptoms with a lot of the dedicated route types, Fed-Ex among them.
While not fully convinced that the driver of that truck is at fault here, it does seem logical based on that previous experience to wonder if speed wasn’t a factor here. If that assumption is correct, the driver still isn’t necessarily the bad guy, and this leads me to my point… The government may well be the issue.
I’d like you to consider, here, the ever stiffer regulations faced by trucking companies, involving allowable drive time, duty time and so on. Those FMCSA rules cause freight scheduling to be unrealistically tight. Drivers are caught between the companies who are trying to survive the added regulatory burdens imposed by the federal government, and the rules themselves. This tends to cause them to drive faster in situations that don’t really support such driving.
As in this case, I suspect. You will doubtless see speed listed as a factor for the cause of this crash, assuming such information ever comes to light. What you will NOT see, however, is a serious and open examination of what effect the current FMCSA regs had on that driver’s choices.. And that, in my view, is what is seriously needed here.
Once again, the actual result of even well-meaning laws can be and are devastating on a number of levels. And far from well-meaning, some of the stuff we’ve been seeing coming out of the FMCSA seems at best arbitrary and spiteful. What is worse, since the FMCA is not accountable to the American people, they make and enforce laws that are never approved by Congress, or voted on by the people… there is no challenging them on this.

The person assuming command knows the whole thing is going under, and they’ll be taking at least part of the blame. One must assume that only a true apparatchik would assume such a position. One imagines easily the kind of cold fish needed to take on such an assignment. No matter how many people get hurt or die, the political goal must be achieved, “for the greater good”.

Hard to believe when clearly our new HHS director was chosen for her position based on her historical and well documented ability to be corrupt for the cause of advancing the left and its agenda.

Given that Barrack Obama views statutory law as mere suggestion, and sees no need to defend our nation’s border. Given that, why has Obama chosen to send his jack-booted thugs to wage war on a Nevada rancher, Cliven Bundy in an alleged attempt to protect a tortoise, from Maill (UK):
Cliven Bundy has been battling the BLM since 1993 when he refused to pay for grazing rights after 600,000 acres of public land were reclassified as federal property.
Land managers claimed the change was necessary to protect a rare desert tortoise and limited the Bundy herd to just 150 head.
The government insists it is federal land which Bundy is using illegally claiming he owes more than $1.1million in unpaid grazing fees and has consistently disregarded federal court orders to remove his animals.
Obama cares more about a desert tortoise than real flesh and blood people.
Then their is the regimes alleged concern for women, the War on Women thing:
Another protester, from Utah, accused the BLM agents of ‘Throwing women to the ground, tasing them [and] sticking K-9 dogs on them’.

Kathleen Sebelius, the health and human services secretary, resigning, does make for some interesting thoughts.
First, as I said yesterday and have BEEN saying for years, now.., Obamacare was designed to fail, since the ultimate goal here is outright government control of healthcare at a single payer level, and removing all private insurance companies from the process. In short, taking the best healthcare system in the world, and placing it on a level of mediocrity matching any other third world nation. Welcome, dear Friends to “Hope and Change”

The problem here, of course, is Obama policy. In fairness, no by could have done the job better than Sebilius did. Does anyone think that the new appointee will be allowed any serious policy changes, any new goal, any hint of reversing the monster known as Obamacare? I think not.
In the end, this is all just theatre, because no real change away from this utter disaster will be forthcoming, before Obama’s eviction notice takes effect.

Here we have the remains of a billboard, in the Bronx. All over the five boroughs, there are many more like it. Outdoor ad companies are about out of business, and many jobs have been lost.
The leftists running New York City apparently decided that these billboards were so aesthetically troublesome that they needed to be condemned and removed. As a guess, they must have figured the graffiti they covered up was much more pleasing to the eye.
After all, people making money and feeding their families is by far more vulgar than some teenage brats painting four letter words with spray cans, right?
Apparently, gang, Eric Holder is feeling the heat, after all.
A fed-up Attorney General Eric Holder is accusing congressional critics of launching “unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly and divisive” attacks on him and the Obama administration.
During a speech to the National Action Network in New York on Wednesday lauding the organization’s effort to advance racial equality, a heated Holder went a little off-script.
“Forget about me [specifically]. Look at the way the attorney general of the United States was treated yesterday by a House committee,” Holder told the crowd. “What attorney general has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment? What president has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?”
Apparently, Holder doesn’t remember Nixon, and John Dean.
