Bye-Bye Blago

Now where is Ann Margaret when you need her?  Rod Blagojevich is now the ex-governor of Illinios,  Associated Press:

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Gov. Rod Blagojevich was convicted at his impeachment trial and thrown out of office Thursday, ending a nearly two-month crisis that erupted with his arrest on charges he tried to sell Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat.

Blagojevich becomes the first U.S. governor in more than 20 years to be removed by impeachment.

We have kicked Blago around quite a bit recently.   He deserved the kicking.   We enjoyed doing it.   I feel confident that Blogo will keep his mug in the news, so we can kick him so more.  Tough job, but somebody has to do it.

Yes, we’re still trying to shovel out from under the snow, but we’ll carry on with a little wishful thinking. Forgive me, but I tend to dream about getting the camper hooked up and running to the outdoors. Usuualy a few thousand miles away. So….

Ok, anyway, lots going on. Let’s get some of it in.

• So, if you have an ‘unpopular’ name, you’re more likely to commit crimes?  Hmmm. Let’s see, here. Maybe we’re dealing with the culture behind the kind of name one gets, hmmm?  I mean, just blaming the name seems superficial.
• The New York Times has an interesting report online last night:
  

  WASHINGTON —(New York Times)- The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

  More energy for me, but thee, so long as the taxpayer is paying for it, eh, Barry?  Beats the hell out of Carter’s sweaters, I suppose, but one really must wonder what Al Gore, the High Preist of Global Frauding would have to say?

•  An interesting site these days, “The Swing State Project”.  They’re spending some time these days looking at the Senate races for the 09-10 mid-term cycle, and it’s fascinating to watch. One of the key races is Chriss Dodd, who we’re remarked about as being in trouble before, in these spaces. Swing State confirms:
  

  Chris Dodd’s favorability ratings in his home state have suffered ever since his very unsuccessful presidential run, an undertaking he was never quite able to explain to his constituents – or Iowa caucus-goers, for that matter. Allegations that he got favorable “VIP” loan terms from lender Countrywide haven’t helped.

  Well, yeah, that and the idea that he’s still not released documents he promised would show his innocence in that little matter… and of course the idea that he and his insistance on home loans for people with no business having home loans, was a large part of our current financial crisis. It gets better from there, though.

  What makes this a Race to Watch is the fact that three reasonably strong Republicans could all potentially give it a gander: Gov. Jodi Rell and former Congressmen Rob Simmons and Chris Shays. But Dodd is a powerful fundraiser in a blue state, and no one has stepped up to the plate yet.

  Here’s the thing; With so many banks in serious poop from the recent fallout over the Mortgage issues, one wonders if his ability to raise funds hasn’t been damaged of late. OTOH, with all the federal bailouts, does anyone really have a grip on how much of that federal bailout money will be used for political contributions? And would Democrats really complain if it DID get used for that? Only if, like Blago, they got caught, seems the answer.

• Speaking of Blago, he showed up to speak to the state reps today at 11 eastern, speaking until 12:30 or so. BAsed on his past behavior, I suspected he was going to use all of his allotted time, and I wasn’t disappointed. He made an interesting point, that I don’t know the answer to; How can he be removed from office based on a criminal complaint that’s not been tried out in a  court of law? All the more reason to think they’re in a hurry to sweep this under the carpet. I’ll tell you this; If Obama was from California instead of Chicago, trust me, they’d be taking their time about giving Bligo the boot. As it is, they’re in a red-faced hurry. You figure out why.
• Even the FCC commissioners are starting to speak out about the Democrats and their plans to muzzle talk radio.
• Oh… in case nobody noticed? Shell Oil is posting a loss for this quarter. Yeah, funny, how silent the Dinosaurs ahve been on this one.
• Boortz points out, today:
  

  The state of New York is going to lose $1 billion in tax revenue this year. Any guess as to why?? That’s right .. cash bonuses to Wall Street employees decreased by 44% in 2008.When it comes to the city of New York, employees brought home $18.4 billion in bonuses last year. Sounds like a lot .. until you realize that the year before, they brought home $33 billion. That is going to cost New York City $275 million in tax revenue.

  An analysis by the State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says that this is the largest tax revenue percentage decline in over 30 years. Before the financial crisis, tax revenue from those evil, greedy rich people on Wall Street accounted for 20% of the state’s tax revenues and 12% of New York City revenues.

  So, look; Next time you tell me how the rich aren’t paying their share, remember this one, OK? You campaign against the rich, and that’s all very PC… but what happens when they go away, and the tax base goes away with them?  I’ll tell you what happens. Cuba. Venezuala. And soon, New York.

• Hey, Al… if you’re really convinced we’re overpopulated, wouldn’t your own suicide be a more effective option?
• Ya know, perhaps it’s time we decalred open war on nanny-statists?
• I’ll bet you didn’t know… support for the bill the house passed last night is at a 42% aproval rating… and falling.

Heather Mac Donald over at The Corner touches on Kirsten Gillibrand, perhaps unintentionally making a nice follow on to my Pajamas Media peice of last week:

What are the chances that New York’s new senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, will maintain her support for immigration enforcement after being rushed by a massive line of illegal-alien advocates and other members of the liberal elite? Gillibrand is said to said to harbor ambitions for much higher office. If she holds onto her immigration principles despite the intended sacking, she will have distinguished herself early on as a unique politician worthy of further attention.

Gillibrand seems to have backed just about every measure to strengthen the immigration rule of law during her single term in Congress representing an Albany-area district. She opposed amnesty and driver’s licenses for illegal aliens; she supported using local police to enforce immigration laws. She co-sponsored the SAVE Act, which would have required employers to verify the legal status of their employees, expedited deportation of illegals, and boosted border technology. She wanted to protect employers who require their workers to speak English from being sued as civil rights violators.

Needless to say, these positions are anathema to the open-borders lobby, so earlier this week, the New York Times published what was virtually a set of serial press releases from that lobby denouncing her. “Borders on xenophobia,” “extremist,” a “slap to immigrant New Yorkers,” and a “disappointing choice” were among the predictable jabs from New York City politicians, Spanish-language newspapers, and advocates. Particularly amusing was the charge from the executive director of the New York Immigration Coalition that Gillibrand’s “past positions are pretty much out of line with the rest of New York State.”

Heh. Well, I guess you could argue it’s out of touch with New York City. As I suggested recently, anything north of about Hilburn isn’t considered to be part of the state by those within the confines of the Apple.

Heather does raise an interesting question, though. about how long such a person can hold out in such an environment.  What it comes down to is what her stands until now, have been driven by. If they’re driven by principle, then, she’ll do fine. If she has until now been simply doing what was needed to extend her power, as I suggested in the PJM comments section, then she won’t last out the term. And now’s the test.

It will be interesting to see if she’s just another power hungry Democrat.

Fifty-three percent of American voters voted for Barack Obama; 46% voted for John McCain, and 1% voted for wackos. Give that 1% to President Obama. Let’s say the vote was 54% to 46%. As a way to bring the country together and at the same time determine the most effective way to deal with recessions, under the Obama-Limbaugh Stimulus Plan of 2009: 54% of the $900 billion — $486 billion — will be spent on infrastructure and pork as defined by Mr. Obama and the Democrats; 46% — $414 billion — will be directed toward tax cuts, as determined by me.

Then we compare. We see which stimulus actually works. This is bipartisanship! It would satisfy the American people’s wishes, as polls currently note; and it would also serve as a measurable test as to which approach best stimulates job growth.

I say, cut the U.S. corporate tax rate — at 35%, among the highest of all industrialized nations — in half. Suspend the capital gains tax for a year to incentivize new investment, after which it would be reimposed at 10%. Then get out of the way! Once Wall Street starts ticking up 500 points a day, the rest of the private sector will follow. There’s no reason to tell the American people their future is bleak. There’s no reason, as the administration is doing, to depress their hopes. There’s no reason to insist that recovery can’t happen quickly, because it can.

In this new era of responsibility, let’s use both Keynesians and supply-siders to responsibly determine which theory best stimulates our economy — and if elements of both work, so much the better.

This is the best idea I’ve heard so far, frankly.

Let’s find out, once and for all, which of these two pet theories work. I mean, leave aside the idea that government spending in the Keynesian mode has NEVER  worked. Not once. They’re still arguing as if it has worked and can again. And we’re wasting trillions of dollars trying to make it work.  So, let’s for once and all identify what works and what doesn’t and stick to that. I’m convinced lowering taxes and promoting financial freedom is the answer.

The reason Obama wants to muzzle Limbaugh and his like?  They’re convnced on that point as well… but Obama himself would rather YOU weren’t…. it lowers the level of government power. Remember kids, when government grows, you lose, and America loses.

The House  republicans set an example  for the jelly spined republicans in the Senate to which to uphold.    The Pelosi-Reid-Obama Debt Plan passed the House nary a single republcan vote.  David Espo, AP:

WASHINGTON – In a swift victory for President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled House approved a historically huge $819 billion stimulus bill Wednesday night with spending increases and tax cuts at the heart of the young administration’s plan to revive a badly ailing economy.

The vote was 244-188, with Republicans unanimous in opposition despite Obama’s pleas for bipartisan support.

There is darned little if any stimulus in Pelosi-Reid-Obama but a lot of pork.   House repubican were wise to walk away from this sink bomb.   Can any reader find any stimulus in this package?

Welcome, one and all to the very Snowbound edition of the most intense nightly read anywhere on the ‘sphere: Bitsblog’s Nightly Ramble.

Yeah, the usual Nightly Ramble sign is under all that snow, somewhere.  We got at least most of that foot, starting last night. I really wanted to stay in, today, but the job was waiting. And so was the blog. Let’s get about it.

• About that storm… Essentially, the whole eastern half of the country, from nothern Arkansas north, is suffering from some function of one huge winter storm.  Apparently, Gore decided to try and sell global warming in the middle of the snowstorm, anyway.  I can’t imagine too many takers, even in Washington, these days, but my problem there is attributing logic to such folk.  In the midst of all of the snow, comes one bright spot… James Hansen’s former boss is now declaring himself an AGW skeptic.  There’s a new study out, too, that gives many reasons that being a skeptic on the matter is the wise thing to do.  Bruce McQuain notes the story and says:
  

  Frankly I think the Al Gore AGW nonsense is in deep scientific trouble as more and more scientists join the increasing ranks of the skeptics. The trick, however, is to get the blinders off the media. Until that happens, the politicians will continue to think the underlying “science” is solid and settled and will cap-and-trade us into bankruptcy.

  Well, that’s always the problem, and in more than AGW alone, isn’t it? Does anyone wonder, anymore, why the Democrats are so busy attacking Limbaugh? They need to control the message. Too many skeptics.

• I’ve started getting gripes about why I’m not talking abuut the super bowl. In answer, let me just say that if there is one thing on this planet that’s more screwed up than Jumbo shrimp, or the Federal Government, it’s the NFL. When the Arizona Cardinals… a team which historcally speaking couldn’t beat  fair to middling High School team in their street clothes… (But perhaps could beat Detroit) … ends up in the  playoffs, much less the Super Bowl, I know things are screwy.  I take it as a sign that the rest of the leauge is playing at the same gawd-awful levels we’ve been seeing of the NBA the last several seasons. Most of ’em phoning in most of the season.  That’s not an indication that Arizona doesn’t deserve being there… they’re better than the rest, it’s just that ‘s not saying much. The NBA lost my interest 20 years ago for that reason. I’m starting to think the NFL isn’t far back of them. The country’s superbowl watching habits are indicative, too. When half the audience and three quarters of the post game chatter for the last several years running has been more on the commercials than on the game, and to the onfield antics of the halftime shows, instead of the game, you can take that as indication I’m right. I’ll keep an loose eye on the game, (7p eastern) but don’t expect me to be drooling over the pre-game shows I hear are starting at noon.
• Has Obama Derangement Syndrome Arrived? Well, I’m sure there are those who would like you to thnk so.  As “The other McCain” points out, Republicans have been unable to generate the kind of militant hordes that the left has managed to do. Mostly, because as Moran, on his show last night, suggested, conservatives don’t tend to be motivated to that kind of reaction. Or to, as Billy pointed out last night, putting tatoos of Obama on your body.  But as I asked Jen Rubin on that show… how do we overcome what we have been witness to these last 8 years, with anything short of that level of commitment?  I’ve never gotten an answer to that question. Even Ronald Reagan frankly,  got into office only because Carter was such a walking disaster, and anyone would have been preferable.  Does there have to be that level of failure on the part of Democrats to get the right unified enough to react? Perhaps given what we see so far with Obama, we’re about to find out.
• Arlen Specter should be an ex-senator. Now.
• The only real bright spot in this economy of late has been the price of oil coming down and staying down. Guess how our government feels about keeping it there, by drilling for our own oil, instead of depending on the world’s despots? You already know, don’t ‘cha? Brian Douglass as comments as well. They’ll keep us on foreign oil and in the supposedly modern equivalent to the Yugo, as long as possible. It’s the way of the future, Comrade.
• After 20 years of IT, all of them with security policies which are at best arbitrary and usually misguided by people who don’t undertsnad what they’re on about, I finally find someone who (Also) knows what they’re talking about with passwords. 
• With our current financial issues, is funding abortions in other countries really what we wanna be doing? Obama seems to think so.
• No kidding?

  Well, that may actually be one reason. And it’s certainly true that the rich benefit from democrats being in power. (Why on earth would there have been a record number of private jets in the DC area for the coronation, save rich people liking Obama since they benefit from him directly?)  I’m a little disappointed in the article, though because he lacks the stones to mention little things like “principles’. Pretty much what I’d expect from Harvard and the NY Times. At least he’s arguing for lowering taxes. He’s got the right cause for the wrong reason.(Shrug)  It’s a start. Four years ago, we couldn’t get that far in the discussion.

The Washington Post:

Republican criticism of the stimulus package that the House will vote on tonight has focused on its soaring price tag, but some Democrats on Capitol Hill and other administration supporters are voicing a separate critique: that the plan may fall short in its broader goal of transforming the American economy over the long term.

Now even Democrats are starting to notice via that CBO report, that the package as defined, won’t work.

I spent some time chatting with Jen Rubin and Rick Moran on Rick’s show, last night. One of the points that came up in that conversation, is that this thing simply doesn’t make sense if you look at it as a ‘stimulus’ bill. If you look at it as a bill with purely political goals, however, it makes all kinds of sense.  Any kind of examination of the bill… some 600 plus pages worth… shows it on nearly every line not a matter of stimulation of America’s economy, but a shackling of America’s economy to socialist ideas and ideals.

Glenn Beck even pointed out last night that the thing makes direct reference to Rod Blogojevich… saying no stimulus money would be distributed in the State of Illinois so long as he’s governor, there.   Amazing!

Think about the reasons past the meme they’re feeding us about Blago, and you can see some serious problems with this bill. For one thing, I’ve been saying it for a long time, Blago is an embarrasment to the Democrats and one that they’d just as soon avoid, since it cuts into their ‘movement’. exactly why Rangel is still ways and Mean, and why William Jefferson is still walking around free, and why Chris Dodd and Barnety Frank aren’t being investigated for their role in our nation’s financial collapse. They’re trying to sweep Blago under the carpet.

Even Dan Drezner sees this thing for what it is. He quotes Jeff Sachs at the Financial Times:

The US debate over the fiscal stimulus is remarkable in its neglect of the medium term – that is, the budgetary challenges over a period of five to 10 years. Neither the White House nor Congress has offered the public a scenario of how the proposed mega-deficits will affect the budget and government programmes beyond the next 12 to 24 months. Without a sound medium-term fiscal framework, the stimulus package can easily do more harm than good, since the prospect of trillion-dollar-plus deficits as far as the eye can see will weigh heavily on the confidence of consumers and businesses, and thereby undermine even the short-term benefits of the stimulus package….

The most obvious problem with the stimulus package is that it has been turned into a fiscal piñata – with a mad scramble for candy on the floor. We seem all too eager to rectify a generation of a nation saving too little by saving even less – this time through expanding government borrowing. First it was former US Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan’s bubble, then Wall Street’s, and now – in the third act – it will be Washington’s….

Perhaps Mr Obama should reflect on the fact that the Clinton-era boom began in 1993 with tax rises and a congressional rejection of a fiscal stimulus package. This time, there is certainly a cyclical case for deficit- financed public spending, but accompanied by phased-in tax increases to provide proper financing of crucial government functions in the medium term.

Quips Drezner:

You know, it’s nay-sayers like Sachs that are keeping our country mired in recession.  I can’t believe his nitpicking is going to stand in the way of my tasty slab of pork getting America going again.

Ya know, it wasn’t long ago, the Democrats were complaining that Bush 43 was using the war on terror as a hat to cover his personal vendetta against Saddam.  I labeled that as Democrat party projection at the time.  What would you call what Obama’s doing here? I’d call it using the crash the Democrats created, as a hat to cover what their attempts to further their own brand of socialism, which by nature includes payoffs to political pals, such as.. you guessed it, ARORN, as Michelle’s been noting the last few days. 

And here’s the thing; As I said at the top of this post, even a lot of Democrats are beginning to understand they’re going to be labaled as having voted for this monster when it fails.

I’ve no doubt it’ll pass… people without ethics… IE; Democrats… hold the Majority in both houses, just now. But it’s important that we as Americans recognize what the Democrats are hitting us with, and why. And remember it come two years from now.

Representative  Carolyn McCarthy the hoplophobe from Long Island is apparently a real blond, stupid all te way to the bone.  McCarthy has been having a hissy fit over Blind Man Patterson’s appointmet of Kristen Gillebrand to the Senate seat vacated by Mrs. Clinton. Newsday:

WASHINGTON – Rep. Carolyn McCarthy may be threatening a primary challenge to newly named New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand over her pro-gun stand, but records show McCarthy donated $1,500 to Gillibrand’s two successful races for an upstate House seat.

“Yeah, I gave her money. I didn’t know what her stance was,” said McCarthy, a Democrat from Mineola who has made gun control her signature issue.

Wasn’t that Timothy Geithner’s defense.  He was too stupid to realize he had to pay federal tax.   McCarthy claims to oppose Gillebrand’s position on the Second Amendmetn, but is too stupid, or is that too blond, to look up Gillebrand’s voting record.   Mrs. McCarthy, please run for the Senate.   If you  come to Rochester, I’ll even buy you a plate.

• OK, Blago did his “rehab the image” tour, yesterday. Not unexpected, but notice; the Dinosaur media’s been trying to ignore him.  There are those, mostly on the left, (And yes, that includes the press) who consider him and his games a distraction.  I thnk, however, Blogo is no distraction; He’s the game, now.  Not that he’s unique in any way… and that’s the point.  He represents the game the Democrats have been playing for a long time, now.  And it’s important to the entire nation. Look at how many people from the Obama administration are being hauled up in front of the grand jury. What Blago’s been doing is part and parcel of politics there.  If Obama and his people are squeaky clean, if they could have risen from that fetid sewer called Illinois Democrat party politics without getting crap all over themselves,  I’m beautiful, and 20 years old.
• I note Joe “Hokey Pokey” Biden commenting the other day about how we’re going to take added casualties in the middle east. Remember how the left used to whine and moan when Bush used to say things like that? No response form the left, this time.  I suppose that when a Democrat is in charge, you can ignore little things like soldiers dying. Right?
• I mentioned yesterday that Gore and his happy band of Gaia worshippers were going to bring their ” stop global warming” act to Capitol Hill sometime this week? Well, forget it; it’s been postponed on account of snow.  They are predicting several in down there,  I hear. Same storm will bring near on a foot to my area here.  I’ll leave it to you to fill in the punchline, but there should be no doubt that Gore has become a national joke. Sad part is the Democrats are taking this moron seriously.
• I doubt it, Billy.  Feeling stupid about it requires the ability to learn and alter one’s behavior based on past mistakes… and frankly, that assumes qualities not in historical evdience. Would they even be supporting him, much less putting tatoos of him on their body? That’s the working definition of ‘idiocy’ for the day.

My new Pajamas Media piece, is up, and the discussion surrounds what the appointment of Kirsten Gillibrand and the reactions to it, tells us about the left. Here’s a taste:

The obvious point proven by the appointment of Kirsten Gillibrand is that there isn’t a glass ceiling at all. Let’s consider, please, the person that she’s replacing. Did the glass ceiling not apply to Hillary? Wasn’t that the cry when Hillary Clinton was elected to that seat — that the glass ceiling was finally broken? Of course, cries of “the glass ceiling” are exposed as false on the face of it; there have been other senators before Hillary Clinton who were female.

This situation also exposes, by extension and pattern matching, that the false charges of discrimination are not unique to the narrow minded world view of the gender feminist, but extend to all the various leftist sub-groups. It is at the very heart of the race hustler’s method of operation, for example. Or the advocate of more rights for homosexuals.

In each of these cases, anytime a question regarding “qualifications” is brought up, the charge of “discrimination” will invariably be the echo from the left. And, often as not, the leftist, the believer in big government, will call for some kind of governmental action which will, in the Orwellian sense, make some candidates more equal than others.

Pass the popcorn. The all ‘rate cage fight is on. Say what you will about Barack Obama, but nobody ever called him the sharpest knife in the drawer.   Yet as dull as BO may be, even BO can figure out that if want the Hopeandchange bus to reach the promised land, re-election, he needs take control back from Speaker Tablecloth, a/k/a.  Mrs. Pelosi.

The so-called stimulus bill as currently drafted bears little resemblance to the proposal BO sent to the Hill.   The Speaker spent her weekend on the talkshow circuit touting the cost savings benefits of contraception.   Shame  her mother never used it.

It has slowly dawned on the one that contracetion is neither infrastruction or stimulative:

Welcome, one and all to the most intense nightly read anywhere on the ‘sphere… Bitsblog’s Nightly Ramble.

Another cold week in front of us, (The plains states are below Zero as of this morning’s check) but thing are already heating up on the political front. there’s a lot of questions popping up about Obama. Let’s go.

• Is  “I won” the spirit of bipartisanship we were promised?  Or is a Democrat’s version of ‘bipartisanship’  to read ‘everyone agrees with me’?  Message to Republicans… if you’re in elected office, you won, too, and that means you have a duty to oppose what’s wrong. Loudly, if needed. Get to it.
• Let’s take an accounting of what we’ve got so far, out of Obama’s promises of transparency. We’ve got lobby types running HHS and Defense. We’ve got a Tax cheat running the IRS. We’ve got a man who is documented as having lied under oath running the  Justice Dept.  One supposes this is transparency since we all know about the goings on.  But is this really an improvement?
• Let’s start with Holder. As David pointed out earlier… anyone Babs likes that much has serous issues.
• A couple more examples from Boortz on Friday:
  

  • Obama throws his support behind a tax cheat slated to be the HMWIC at the Treasury Department and ultimately in charge of the IRS. Please don’t try to pass of that “it was an innocent mistake” on my show. The truth is that when a Republican fail to pay taxes it’s a crime that disqualifies that person for all future government positions. When a Democrat fails to pay taxes it’s just a mistake. Horsesqueeze. This man intentionally evaded taxes, and he got caught. Furthermore … when he did get caught for two years of his tax evasion he wiped his brow and said “Whew .. at least they didn’t nail me for those other two years.” Finally, the day before his nomination, me suddenly realizes his “mistake” and steps up to pay. You’re not buying this nonsense, are you?
     
  • PrezBo signaled support for the nearly one trillion dollar spending boondoggle being promoted by his party on Capitol Hill. Read the Nuze segment below. This whole Democrat stimulus package is a complete fraud. It will NOT stimulate our economy. It will add to the deficit and pave the way for huge tax increases on the actual achievers in this country in years to come. Someone tell me how funding the arts is going to stimulate our economy.
     
  • President Obama has, in my humble opinion, transmitted a clear signal of weakness to the Islamic terrorists who want to kill us. You just have to know that these Islamic goons were standing by watching Obama to see just how tough he may be to deal with. What do they see? He’s going to shut down the facility where some of their Islamic killer-compatriots are held, and he’s halting trials of their buds. On what planet does this not send a signal of potential weakness. With this action I believe that President Obama has made America a bit less safe … all to pander to the moonbat-left wing of the Democrat Party.

• And in response, if you think Obama isn’t worried about talk radio people like Boortz, think again. He’s after anyone who disagrees with him, with everything he has.  I’m telling you, folks… “Localism’ is the new “fairness doctrine” 
• We’re seeing increasing evdience that very little of the huge spending we were told is going for economic recovery will actually go there. Most of it will end up in the pockets of Obama’s vote-fraud pals at ACORN.   
• We also see that government created jobs for their own sake are not worth the cost, no matter what the likes of Krugman says.
• We’re being ripped off and lied to, people. Our money has been, and is being poured down the crapper.  And Obama says we’re not supposed to object?
• On the fifth day of the Obama administration, Senior staffers are being issued federal subpoenas. Well, that seems to fit, doesn’t it?
• I can’t wait for Obama to go after the church.  Seems to me they’ve got him tagged pretty well. At the moment, we’re running around 3000 abortions a day, mostly minorities. Imagine the outcry if we lost 3000 soldiers per day in the war of terror. Do you suppose there would be an outcry?
• Meanwhile, Democrat criminality goes unchecked. You can pretty much hold your hand on your butt for a real investigation to happen with Rangel.
• Notice, please, the government protection being afforded Obama’s aunt.  Given her illegal status, you can imagine why. A bit of an embarrasment, at least. I will guarantee you there’s some illegality on Obama’s part as well. When there’s that much effort to cover tracks, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why. Possibly, she knows something about where The Chosen One was really born, huh?
• We’re in record cold. Yet Al Gore is going to the Senate this week to talk about Global Warming.  Obama is calling for stricter standards on auto emissions…. to combat global warming. He’s also calling for higher cafe standards.Again, to combat global warming. All ignoring of course the actual evdience.  Oh… and if Obama is really concerned about jobs,  and saving the auto indurstries, shouldn’t he be looking at what’s happened to jobs in this country every time the CAFE standards havegone up?  That’s right, kiddies, we lose jobs every time we give into this Gore Squeeze. So, guess where this thing is going now?
• I note the suppsoedly transparent White House isn’t issuing presser transcripts anymore. Gee, wonder why?
• Meanwhile, we’re well on our way to nationalizing banks… and everything else with it. Yet, the banks we’re snapping up appear to be using their money for other things. I”ve long since started to wonder who really won the cold war, after all.
• I do have to say in all fairness, the Obama administration is really coming along. It took even Bill and Hilalry Clinton a full year to look this dirty. They’ve managed to get to that point in less than a week.

• 

  Missed it by THAT MUCH

  It must be said that the more Biden talks about thinking, the more convnced I am that he lacks the ability.

• As David pointed up last night, there’s a bit of resistance coming from Obama’s own.  The Kennedy Clan may actually end up serving America’s interests after all, if by way of their anger, they expose the nonsense going on among Democrats, here. Interesting, though, that the Kennedy Fifdom had to get challanged for this all to come front and center, isn’t it?
• Speaking of trampled fifdoms, check MoDo.   Surber isn’t fooled by her complaints and identifies the real issue for Dowd.
• Steyn understands where liberalism is leading us:
  

  Great! Surrender in Iraq and I promise to recycle. Let the mullahs go nuclear and I promise to carpool when I go to buy fair-trade coffee. Stand idly by while those goofy foreigners slaughter everyone in Sudan and I promise to sign up for an authentic African-style interpetative dance fundraising event commemorating the Rwandan genocide. It really is that simple!

• It appears William Kristol   isn’t going to be the token conservative at the New York Times, anymore. Much as I disagree with the man at times, I have no doubt he’s going to be back in our faces in short order. The Times, meanwhile may well  not be in anyone’s face, shortly. And yes, I’d consider that an improvement.

A letter attributed to Barbra Streisand via Kathyrn Jean Lopez, National Review:

I’m writing to you now to let you know about my friend and President Obama’s nominee for Attorney General, Eric Holder.

Eric Holder is a man of unique integrity, as committed to liberty, the rule of law and our constitutional rights as anyone I know. He has enormous experience pursuing justice as a Superior Court Judge, a U.S. Attorney and as Deputy Attorney General for the United States. He has worked with people on both sides of the political aisle. That’s why I’m so angry that Republicans in the Senate have chosen to make him a target

And to think that Babs isn’t even blond. I am not quite sure to describe a reprobate who would have a six year old child kidnapped at the point of  a machine gug.  It sure would not be “as committed to liberty, the rule of law and our constitutional rights.”    Elian Gonsalez had contitutionl rights, and Eric Holder saw to it that he disn’t recieve any.

By the way, when O.J. Simpson tried a stunt like this in Las Vegas, the State of Neveda sent Mr. Simpson to prison for what may be the rest of his life.   Eric Holder count yourself lucky.   Bsbs just count yourself stupid.

I don’t trust Senator Charles Schumer, and don’t trust any toadie Chucky picks to fill the Senate.   After all I am an American.

It did not take long for Senatorette designate Kristen Gillebrand to reveal herself to be no more than Schumer toad, Sharon Gitterman, New York Times

At the news conference, Ms. Gillibrand defended her pro-gun legislative stance, saying that she “very much believes in protecting hunter’s rights” and that the pastime is part of “heritage and culture” of New York state.

But she also said that now that she represented the entire state, urban gun control issues would become part of her advocacy work.

“There’s a lot of concerns in many of our city communities about gun violence, about keeping our children safe and keeping guns out of the hands of criminals,” she said. “Those are concerns I share.”

Governor Blind Man Patterson, is quoted as saying:

“The senator knows that she has very big shoes to fill,”

Guv, I don’t know how to break this to you, there is something big about Mrs. Clinton, but it is no where near her feet.

As for Kristen the Toad, there is absolutely nothing in the Second Amendment which pertains to hunting:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.  

The purpose of the Second Amendment is not to enable armed citizens to threaten the safety of peaceful and law abiding deer, but rather to protect the free citizen from the tyranny of the state, be the tryant, King George the Third, or Charlies  Schumer.   Free citizens have the right to bear arms.  Serfs do  not.
