Funny how we don’t see that being directed at Mrs Clinton’s cutout.

I can’t stop thinking about this picture, and I confess I find it really upsetting. And, no, it’s not because I don’t have a sense of humor. I like to think I have a well-earned reputation for often irreverent, sometimes ill-advised humor. But I’m not laughing now.

Clinton’s sexual partners, voluntary and otherwise.   In fact am sure that Mrs. Clinton would have consented to being groped in person, had it but been made a condition of employment.

Snow, freezing rain, grey skies, just plain yuck, miserable driving, freezing my cheeks off… yep. Gotta be the holiday season. I know I’ve not put up any Christmas light shots, but that’s mostly because there hasn’t been enough snow to take one. The snow sets the lights off so well.

Lots going on, let’s get to it.

• Without question, we’ll all be adding a new word to our vocabulary… we’ll all be learning how to pronounce ‘Blagojevich‘. The irony of the day must be that Blagojevich ran on an anti-corruption platform.
• Joyner over at OTB, by way of a WaPo article, points out that Blago was threatening the Tribune, too.
  

  As media analysts question the continuing relevance of newspapers, prosecutors are charging Blagojevich in an extraordinary scheme to silence critics at the state’s largest paper — even as they were urging editors not to undermine the investigation with premature disclosures.

  As it is, Blagojevich is likely going to spend a long time in jail and the Tribune is going bankrupt.

  Well, yeah… but why did the Trib not scream bloody murder? Frankly, that they played along, and held their silence speaks to me of being part of the problem. You know full well they’d not do so were a republican involved. Say, George Ryan, for example. they oughta be very glad indeed they’re going chapter 11 is the worst of it. And as for the WaPo, weren’t they nodding with some degree of approval, along with the Kossacks, as Obama’s thugs excluded Fox news from their election activities?

• The Politico examines the (known) risks to Obama on this Blago thing.  I’m unconvinced all the elements have been accounted for yet, though. As Scooter Libby showed us, the investigation can be unpredictable. The Democrats seem quite willing to dump on Blago, and just now, we see Obama calling on Blago to resign, apparently in hopes of making the case go away sooner. Apparently, they remember the nature of other such investigations, and are less than thrilled about the same weapon being now aimed at THEM. Well, they’d better get used to it.
• We mentioned a three month tax break here a few days ago. Glenn Reynolds does so today, and says, aptly enough:

  Well, yeah.  It’s painful to put it that way, but in reality, that’s what it comes down to, in more ways, I think, than Glenn is willing to say.

•  Does anyone seriously think the Big Three are going to be able to solve their problems in three months, without the Unions disappearing outright? Another question to file under ‘Unions are killing America’.

• Speaking of which, how’d they manage to get almost all the way through a Haj without something blowing up taking a few dozen people with it?
• OK, if he didn’t have time to find himself a girl, how is it he had time for this? Can you say “Super-Geek”? (Shudder)

If my Chevy dealer were selling this Senate seat, he would point out that it’s hardly been used, Barack Obama having barely sat in it.

I’ve been watching the events and reax from the arrest and indictment of Rod Blagojevich,-(D) (The owner of what is possbly the worst rug I’ve ever seen… and given Sam Donaldson, that’s saying something…) I have begun to wonder just what it is we have here, in a larger sense.

This Ain’t Hell suggests:

Do I blame Obama? Nope. I’m sure he’s not poltically inept enough to know anything about it.

Frankly, I’m far from convinced on this.  Under the usual standard of “What did Obama know and when did he know it”, it strikes me as nearly impossible that Obama didn’t know what this guy was doing, on several levels. At it’s most basic, we have the process of elimination argument…. “How can one dance around that issue so exactly without knowing it exists?”.  However, the argument that Obama knew full well what was happening goes deeper yet, something which ABC News, acknowledged, today:

Asked what contact he’d had with the governor’s office about his replacement in the Senate, President-elect Obama today said “I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening.”

But on November 23, 2008, his senior adviser David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Chicago and said something quite different.

While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a “kingmaker,” Axelrod said, “I know he’s talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them.”

Now of course Axlerod’s been backtracking, saying he mis-spoke. I don’t think so. As an example, from the same ABC article:

But there remain questions about how Blagojevich knew that Mr. Obama was not willing to give him anything in exchange for the Senate seat — with whom was Blagojevich speaking? Did that person report the governor to the authorities?

And, it should be pointed out, Mr. Obama has a relationship with Mr. Blagojevich, having not only endorsed Blagojevich in 2002 and 2006, but having served as a top adviser to the Illinois governor in his first 2002 run for the state house.

In the Democratic gubernatorial primary that year, then-state sen. Obama endorsed former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris. But after Blagojevich won, Obama came around enthusiastically. At the same time, meanwhile, Axelrod had such serious concerns about whether Blagojevich was ready for governing he refused to work for his one-time client.

According to Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., Mr. Obama’s incoming White House chief of staff, Emanuel, then-state senator Obama, a third Blagojevich aide, and Blagojevich’s campaign co-chair, David Wilhelm, were the top strategists of Blagojevich’s 2002 gubernatorial victory.

Emanuel told the New Yorker earlier this year that he and Obama “participated in a small group that met weekly when Rod was running for governor. We basically laid out the general election, Barack and I and these two.”

Denials that there was a relationship between Blago and Obama are thus exposed. Yeah, OK, the picture helps, too. They show us, at the least, the type of people Obama’s been filling his smallest circles, with, as if the Ayers and Dorn Bomb Show wasn’t bad enough.

This goes deeper though, and into, I think, questions of criminality. Why did Axlerod refuse to work with Blago in his campaign? (Which given Obama’s relationship with Alxerod would seem to go to the question of how he seemingly so neatly avoided the issue for all appearances. He must have known, and publicly turned a blind eye to it. )  Obama’s denials and Axlerod’s backtracking not withstanding, there’s an awful lot of smoke here for their not being any fire. A lot of crossed career paths, a lot of parallel ideologies, etc.. and in Chicago politics, well you get the idea. Just the kind of thing where Fitz will do well.

Oh, that’s another thing; The timing  of the indictment.

The investigation is open, now, before Obama becomes President.. and since it was opened thus, Obama can’t shut it down legally once he becomes President.  Which means, of course, that all these questions will in fact be answered. However that falls out, it cannot be good for Obama. I suspect we will see some of his inner circle doing the frog march in the next couple years… yes, I said years. Fitz may not be fast, but as Scooter Libby will tell you, he’s thorough. As such a second term for Obama ay already be in jeopardy. Interestingly, Fitz is in the position of having been praised by the moonbat left for the work done in that case. They’ll have a hard time, I suspect raising hell about his conduct here, particularly if they don’t want to be seen as applying their usual double standards.

And I’m going to point out something here, which occurred to us when we heard Hillary Clinton got State and solidified when we heard Blago had been arrested…; As I’ve said elsewhere Her getting State was an expedient move… under the heading of ‘keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.” That said, though, and given the long period of back and forth, between the time we heard she was going to get it, and a small flurry of meetings between Clinton’s people and Obama’s…  we pretty well know each side there got something they wanted, for her to be in that position.  State came to Hillary Clinton at a price…not a price of money so far as we know, but a price, just the same. How much of a stretch is it, though, from what Obama did in that case, to the outright selling of a Senate Seat as Blago did?

Frankly, not much.

Indeed, it seems all of a piece, in terms of operating style. Very Chicago. That’s a style that a Chicago girl like Hillary Clinton (Born and bred there) would have understood very well indeed.  The lines of discussion for the next four years would seem to have been drawn by these events.

Oh… and remember, gang, these are the people we’re told can handle our healthcare, our money, our lives.

McPhillips, pipes up over at Q&O in the comments ether and raises a great point on a slightly different topic, which I think I need to bounce off of, here.

Obama spent twenty years — most of his adult life — as a congregant at a church (Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago) where the teaching is explicitly based on “black theology.” For those unfamiliar with the discussion hereabouts, “black theology” is both racist and black supremacist.

A white politician who belonged to an equivalent white racist church would have been justly hooted off the national stage in a heartbeat.

All true.  But here’s where I bounce off Martin’s point and to the topic of this post;  If the idea that Obama was unaware of what was going on in the church he’s spent his entire adult life in, and what their teaching was stretches credulity, how are we to take his claims of innocence here, when clearly, he’s up to his eyeballs in the Chicago political scene, and has been so since the day his career was launched in Bill Ayers’ living room??

Another day in the detereioration of America.

• I see Gore and Obama meeting today, to discuss plans.  One wonders if they’ve been talking to the Military. Does it trouble you that Obama is also talking about the future of auto makers within the same framework as talking to Gore?  It should.
• And did you know it’s snowing in SouCal? Did you know our oceans are setting records for how much cooler they are?  So, why is Obama talking to Gore, again? Do not make the mistake of thinking theirs is a goal that’s on the up and up… that they’re not all about eradicating Capitalism. Until you lean that one point, none of the rest of this is going to make any sense to you at all.
• With all the focus today on Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and his corruption,  maybe we ought to break this out a little.
  • One can’t help but wonder if this arrest wasn’t delayed. That question becomes particularly potent when one looks at the amount of linkage between Blagojevich and Tony Rezko… and Tony Rezko to Barack Obama.
  • OTOH, by bringing the indictment now, means that the prosecutor can’t be removed by Obama once sworn in… something Obama might have done had the indictment occurred after he was sworn in.
  • One also wonders, if the procecutor in the case, Patrick Fitzgerald…(Yes, the same one that went after Scooter Libby) isn’t going to loose some of the respect he’s obviously built up among eth Kossacks  from that Libby case. Ater all, he’s cutting very close indeed to the Chosen One when he starts looking seriously at Rezko.
  •  If you’re curious, Smoking Gun has the indictment, if you’re interested. 
  • One wonders what this means to the folks over at Republic Windows and Doors?
  • Additionally, what will happen to his threats against Bank of America?
  • At the very least, what will get revealed in this is Obama’s wilingness to turn a blind eye to the corruption he encountered, Fitz denials’ of this point not withstanding. Obama’s understanding of these specific charges, how can anyone NOT know this guy’s crooked?
  • My guess is we’ll have a new Gov in Illinois soon, since that Senate seat needs to be filled, and nobody wants an appointment now from Blagojevich. The stain will always be there, truthful or not, that the seat, whoever Blagojevich appoints, went to the highest bidder.
  • Someone posted Obama’s Senate Seat on Ebay. It’s been removed, of course.
  • Question’s going to come up who else was bidding for the seat. Jesse Jackson Jr roars to mind, since his name was among the first. Bubby Rush, as well.
  • Wanna have a little fun? Let’s see how often  the Dinosaur media runs stories about all of this, that avoid mentioning that  Blagojevich is a Democrat.Remember, mention of Party affiliation was never a problem with George Ryan.
• Speaking of corruption… The fix is in for Charlie Rangel. Forget about this ethics cloud ousting him. As the saying goes, he’d have to be bedding a dead girl or a live boy to be ousted. Past that, Nancy’s got his back. What about “Draining the Swamp”, Nancy? Maybe you meant you were going to remove Republicans? Must be, because it’s obvious that crooks are OK by you. Of course given how long  Blagojevich has stayed out of the noose, it seems reasonable to ask if this sin’t standard democrat fare.

So, the Caddy Escalade is the most stolen car (?) in the country? First off, I’ve got a news flash to ABC news… it’s not a car.. (No damned wonder the Dinosaur news agencies are in trouble, if they can’t tell the difference) … but secondly, what the report doesn’t dare mention is what part of town they’re being stolen FROM. And of course they don’t dare mention how much ‘bling’ is attached. Let’s suggest, quietly, that the ones being stolen are not exactly bone stock.  And yes, my own vehicle, also not a car, was on the list… as the LEAST stolen… the Buick Rainier. Set ’em side by side, and you tell me… why the difference? It’s all Image, of course.

Move over “Cold Cash” Jefferson, yet another democrat is in legal trouble, Pete Williams, NBC News et al:

WASHINGTON – Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested Tuesday on charges of conspiring to get financial benefits through his authority to appoint a U.S. senator to fill the vacancy left by Barack Obama’s election as president

Note this scandal is linked to the Office of the President Elect.   These are the emoluments Blagojevich suggested:

The Department of Justice alleges that in exchange for the Senate appointment, Blagojevich discussed obtaining:

• a substantial salary for himself at either a non-profit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions;

• placing his wife on paid corporate boards where he speculated she might garner as much as $150,000 a year;

• promises of campaign funds — including cash up front;

• a cabinet post or ambassadorship for himself

Note, sounds like business as usual in Illinois.   The Senate needs to make it part of Attorney General designate Eric Holder’s confirmation to extract a promise from Holder not to interfere with Peter Fitzgerald’s investigation.

Also as cabinet post or ambassador ship can only come from the President, we need to know what the Office of the President Elect knew, and when.

Note how Blagojevich’s first suggestion sounds like BO’s appointment to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, and the second sounds like Mrs. BO’s position with a Chicago hospital. 

Yes, business as usual in Illinois.

Dennis Yost, 65, the lead singer of the 1960s soft rock group the Classics IV, died Sunday at Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio, of respiratory failure, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

he Classic IV had a series of hits, including “Spooky,” “Traces of Love” and “Stormy.”

Yost, a native of Detroit, played drums and sang. He was an original member of the band, which formed in Jacksonville, Fla., where Yost was raised, in the early 1960s. In 1967, the band relocated to Atlanta, and a year later they had their first national hit with “Spooky.”

A year later “Stormy” was a hit, and “Traces of Love” made it to No. 2 in 1969. That same year, the group had a top 20 hit with “Everyday With You Girl.”

Buddy Buie, co-writer of the group’s songs with guitarist J.R. Cobb, said: “Dennis had an incredible voice — just a great voice for love songs.”

No joke, that. There was a sound that was a serious part of radio then to now, and certainly ended up being a major part of the Atlanta sound, following in the footsteps of people like Billy Joe Royal, Joe South, Tommy Roe, and so on.

Buie, for his part, along with Cobb, went on to be founding members of the Atlanta Rhythm Section, so I suppose you could say Yost and the band actually started the flight paths of two very popular bands.

I could go on and on. The point I’m making here is that our new president, the Congress and all Americans must come together to solve these problems. This is not a time for the left wing of our Party to draw conclusions about the Cabinet and White House appointments that President-Elect Obama is making. Some believe the appointments generally aren’t progressive enough. Having worked with former Senator Obama for the last two years, I can tell you, that isn’t the way he thinks and it’s not likely the way he will lead. The problems I mentioned above and the many I didn’t, suggest that our president surround himself with the most qualified people to address these challenges. After all, he was elected to be the president of all the people – not just those on the left.

Qualified, for what, on what planet.  For example Mrs. Clinton’s foreign policy credentials were so weak, the BO was openly mocking them during the campaign.   Now Mrs.  Clinton is slated to be BO’s secretary of state.    I, for one, am not buying it, and neither is Jane “I love Joe LIeberman” Hamsher, Firedoglake:

People on the left are not looking at Obama’s appointments with a jaundiced eye because they think he needs to apply some liberal orthodoxy litmus test.   They have legitimate concerns that people like Geitner, Summers and other Rubin acolytes created this mess, and it’s reasonable to ask why they’re being appointed to get us out of it.  While some of us want to give Obama a chance to fulfill the promises he campaigned on and work with the staff of his choice in order to do so, we’d have to be a bunch of intellectually dishonest kool-aid swilling freaks to pretend  his economics team didn’t have some troublesome baggage.

And after the past eight years, it’s a bit much to stomach someone saying “just shut up and trust me, because I know better.”

Nope – they’re not happy and the reason they’re not happy is what they projected on to the Obama “change” mantra isn’t turning out to be what they “hoped” for, is it? Can Obama screw over the extreme left?

“I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment,” Obama said at a news conference. “Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven’t indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word.”

I do take BO at his word, for what is word is worth, a Bongo Buck twenty-five.   Common sense and common law says that free citizens have the right to carry arms.   Serbs do not   Are we to be citizens or serfs?

A cold, cold Monday, today. Buffalo had 14 degrees, this morning. Syracuse had a low of 5. My truck struggled to life this morning, and then after advising me it was 16 outside… (Making my driveway the garden spot in the state).. that there might be ice possible. Always helpful information, that truck. I can’t complain. Years ago, I had one that your name would have to be Petty or something to get it started on a cold morning.

• Heck, Billy, I called the oil price crumble long before August… both here and at Q&O.  Of course none of the drooling morons who called me out on that… including Erb,  never showed up to point out I was right, either… not that I expected it.  It’d be nice if someone reminded them, though. At the moment, I’ll say I didn’t expect the price to drop quite as low as it has. I figured we’d bottom at $2/gal for gas. I paid $1.67 at Irving, NY Saturday night. While cheaper than everything else around here, that’s not really that far off the national average of a $1.85.  I’ll tell you this; I don’t expect this to last, given Obama. In fact I fully expect I’ll have my camper in the driveway most of next summer because taking it out will be too freakn’ expensive.
• And while I’ve got you, Billy, I have to say that I wonder if that “prank phone call” didn’t light a fire under Pakistan to find and arrest someone they say was involved with the Mumbai attacks. Don’t go reading too much into this; I’m not convinced anyone was motivated to do the right thing, here.. I don’t trust that the arrests made weren’t just for show both to India and the west… but at the same time, I wonder if that overt show of effort wasn’t made because at least for a while, Pakistan took the prank threat seriously… long enough to get the wheels moving. I dunno, but I wonder a little.
• True to form, we’re now starting to hear that the problem for the Big Three isn’t the unions are too strong… it’s because other car makers aren’t unionized yet. Apparently the trick ts to make sure misery is spread around. And yes, that’s how I view Unions; misery imposed.
• Speaking of unions, did you see this in Chicago? They’ve killed the golden goose and then blame everyone else? Sorry, no… I have no sympathy at all for them.
• Buyer’s remorse is apparently becoming more prevelant than ever among the left. Apparently there’s no amount of compromise these idiots will take… As I suggested when presdient Bush was trying to satisfy everyone with a centrist cabinet. I wonder, though just how ‘right wing’ some of these appointments are. I look at the list of people he’s appointed and no matter how I look at it, it still comes down way, way to the left. So, there’s really two things going on, here. First, Obama is clearly trying to thorw  the right off the scent by SAYING he’s appointing center to right people. And the left? Well, there’s no satisfying them anyway.
• Speaking of The Chosen One, did you see the Meet The Press interview over the weekend? Orwell, in his wildest fantasy couldn’t have gone farther away from reality.

No. It turns out that our economy grows best when the benefits of the economy are most widely spread. And that has been true historically.”

  Actually Reagan showed us rather differently. But as for what Obama means, here’s the translation: “What I want to do is spend more taxpayer dollars on the roughly 40% who pay no income tax whatever. And of course, I’ll soak the rich for it.” That by definition is not only class warfare, it’s dishonesty, as well. Boortz note the same thing, this morning, and says:

  ” …part of what I’m hoping to introduce as the next president is a new ethic of responsibility where we say that if you’re laying off workers, the least you can do when you’re making $25 million a year is give up some of your compensation and some of your bonuses … That kind of notion of shared benefits and burdens is something that I think has been lost for too long, and it’s something that I’d like to see restored.”

  Restored how? By government edict? What are we heading for here, government control over executive compensation? Maybe government control over ALL compensation. Yeah .. that’s the ticket, isn’t it? We’ll let the private sector continue to own and operate the businesses, but we’ll put the government in control of setting all salaries.

  By the way … do you know what you call an economic system where the means of production are privately owned but controlled by government. No, it’s not socialism. Under socialism the government owns the businesses. And it’s not capitalism. Under capitalism ownership and control is private. So … what’s the word? A very few of you know … and the rest of you are about to find out. It’s the “F” word. Fascism. So .. what does that make Obama?

  Bootz naled it. That’s exactly what we’re dealing with… and it doesn’t take a great deal of reserach to note that is exactly Hitler’s idealsim at work, here. Hitler never was a lover of capitalism, in spite fo what you may have heard. From an end user perspective, there really isn’t more than a hair’s difference between Hitler and Marx, in the end. Not taht they don’t each have their supporters.

• Speaking of ol’ “One Nut”, by the way, Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio, Nobel wonk that he is, has informed us that the Internet might have stopped Hitler. I see where he’s going, but I’m not so sure. I look at Obama’s rise to power, and what he proposes to do with/to our counry and II can’t help thinking that at best,  Le Clezio’s pronouncement is about to be put to the test. The similarity is frightening.
• Now why would Amsterdam be shutting down it’s red light districts? Apparently, what has happened is they got a reminder why such things were outlawed in the first place.
• I see a lot of traffic on the right about the USSC declining to hear the Birth Certificate case of Barack Obama. Almost universally, they seem happy about the case being turned down. I’m not convinced it’s a good thing, myself from several angles.  For one thing, if I was Obama, I might want the air cleared, assuming that I actually had a valid Birth cert. There’s no denying the case has grown legs in public opinion, and the public interest, to say nothing of Obama’s… would have been well served to have the matter fully read into the record.  I’m not convinced we should be quite so dismissive of the charge, or those bringing it. Obama may possibly be well proven to be eligable for the office of POTUS, but I have yet to see such an argument presented, from ANY corner, particularly Obama’s. In any event, If he is in fact eligable for the office, is it really so much to ask for him… or anyone else running for the office, for that matter, to prove it?
• Hey, Glenn, I expect whisking Rockstars out of security lines is for security purposes. Hard to maintain order when there’s a lot of mulling around the star seeking autographs and whatnot. Annoying, sure, but understandable from a security point of view.
• The Media is losing interest in Global warming. Apparenty, the government doesn’t beleive the Global Warming nonsense, either.
• According to sources, the New York Times is preparing to borrow quarter billion dollars, more or less, against it’s Manhattan site.  Who’s dumb enough to sign off on that loan?
• The Miami Herald is up for sale, too. I’m starting to wonder, which city will be the first, sans a city newspaper?
• By the way… has anyone noticed we’ve not seen any news flashes about the approval ratings of congress of late?
• I know David already blogged William “Freezer” Jefferson lost his re-election bid. But I find it interesting that even the local papers down there are noting Jefferson lost in a district specifically redrawn to give black voters an electoral advantage… a point they wouldn’t dare have made before the election, or had he actually won the thing. That’s a big enough story in it’s own right. Perhaps the more frightening story, here is it was still a close one.
• Speaking of close ones that are scary, the story of the suppsoedly missing Frankenvotes continues, by way of Mark Hemmingway.
  

  The latest official tally shows Norm Coleman with a 192 vote lead in Minnesota’s senate race. Yet, Marc Elias began the Franken campaign’s latest conference call by announcing that they are still ahead by four votes according to their unnofficial counting methodology (which I explained here)..

  Yeah, well, about that… it’s a bitch, complainnig the election was ‘stolen’ from you, if you’re not spreading the idea that you’re actually ahead. And since they’re not going to rule on any of this until the 16th, you know they’re going to keep making those noises until then.

  It’s like I keep saying, most recently with “Saint Andrew the Incontinent” the other day,  this is about self-justification. Keep re-writing history and the meanings of things until you’re considered ‘Normal’. Gotta pay more attention to Maggie, I think.

Surfing the Washington Times, this morning, I happen across Andrew Breitbart.  I’d heard about the incident he writes about, here, but hadn’t given it much thought, until now.

Anyone who has attended a frat party will have an understanding of what they’re seeing here. And Breitbart has a firm grasp on all of the ramifications:

If the photo had exposed a Republican offender, there’d already be a full-bore media scandal and cascading resignations. MSNBC would be rearranging its schedules for a wall-to-wall 24/7 bonanza. Rachel Maddow would finally have her big story. Barbara Boxer, Patricia Schroeder and other righteous feminists would walk up the Capitol steps, reprising the time they tried to destroy Clarence Thomas – for nothing.

Yet so far there is no groundswell of feminist rage in the District of Columbia. The unnamed co-conspirator thrusting the beer bottle into the mouth of the designated secretary of state isn’t yet a household slur.

Instead, with the accused being a member of the protected Democratic class, we only have a quick peripheral debate. The mainstream media headlines soften the story’s implications: “Obama speechwriter Favreau learns the perils of Facebook” (CNN).

Next time, don’t share your coarseness with the world. It’s the technology’s fault.  

He’s correct of course. We males have spent a freakin’ lifetime attending sensitivity classes which have centered their existance on teaching us that as Breitbart says…

Every sexual harassment training manual makes exceedingly clear that this type of behavior is intolerable. If only former President Bill Clinton could offer his sage advice on sexual harassment and put this conundrum to rest.

If, for instance, President Bush’s former speechwriter Michael Gerson had been caught in flagrante cartone, he would have stepped down before the president could fire him. If not, the media, the feminist establishment and the Democratic Party leadership would have destroyed Mr. Gerson and Mr. Bush and crafted a “culture of harassment” umbrella descriptor to hang around the administration’s neck in perpetuity.

In GOP land, apologies and resignations are never enough.

However, the Democratic double standard on political correctness kicked in immediately as the feminist establishment, the media and even Mrs. Clinton herself came forth to save the fast-rising Obama wordsmith.

Can she fix it? Yes, she can.

And we can do some replacements vis a vie the cutout to illustrate the double standard even further. Imagine, for example that the cardboard cutout you’re dealing with is one of Condi Rice, Barbra Bush, Mary Kathryn Ham, Ann Coulter, or any number of those on the right. Why, it would never have been mentioned at all. Even the quick debate that ensued in this case, wouldn’t have occurred. Indeed, the whole thing would have been looked upon by leftists with silent approval.

(Aside… in my head, I can hear a Monty Python voice saying “Good morning, Mrs Cutout…”)

Breitbart dryly notes:

Mrs. Clinton ignored the sexism and sexual assault the photo projected and accepted Mr. Favreau’s apology through her spokesman Philippe Reines, who weirdly joked, “Senator Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon’s obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application.”

This is not the first time, of course, that Mrs. Clinton has saved a man from exceedingly bad behavior with women. In fact, it’s her signature skill.

Well, there is that. But why? To help her political aspirations. Had a noted Republican been groping her cutout in the photo, she’d have been screaming, too.

A bunch of drunks getting rowdy is news? No, of course not. But the reactions of the Democrat protected class, are an object lesson. As will be, alas, the reaction to Breitbart, for having the actual stones to even consider writing such an article where people might read it.

At the least, though Breitbart should be highly praised for resisting the tempatation to suggest that the carboard cutout had a better figure than the real thing, and is likley smarter.

It was 67 years ago, today.
I wonder at how much we as a people have forgotten.

The battleship in this picture, at the time of the attack, had something on the order of a million gallons of heavy fuel oil. It ended up on the bottom of the harbor…  Along with about half her crew. There is a dribble of oil that comes up from the wreckage that amounts to about a quart of oil per day.  It’s been doing that for all of these 67 years.  Sad, that we were unable to hold the memory as long as the oil in that tank held out.

You see, there were those in that day who figured that foreign powers such as Japan and Germany couldn’t threaten us.

I look at the current pacifist movement in the country today, and I wonder.
