Court to Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner: Do Your Job

Interesting news from The Darke Blog:

A 3-judge panel of the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals recently vacated a temporary restraining order which would effectively make Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner follow the law – and do her job – in preventing election fraud. Tonight, the full court decided to hear the case en banc, and has reimposed the TRO. This is great news.

Well, it’s OK news, anyway. And as one of the comments at Darke Blog suggests, this is a quite vicious and complete smackdown of Brunner and the Democrats. (Here’s a PDF of the ruling) But Brunner was breaking the law before…and for idealistic reasons… she’s wiling to break the law to get Democrats elected. What makes anyone think that’s changed now, and she’s going to willingly do her job at this stage?

Personally, I figure if this thing ever gets a real investigation, we’re going to find that there was and is an organized effort to get Democrats into office by way of vote fraud.

• Honorable Mention at OTB’s Caption contest. Yeah, I said a Nuclear Joybuzzer.
• I come back to find ACORN in the news. Again. And I see Glenn keeping tabs on it. And the Wall Street Journal. And Fox.  And Michelle has a big post up on the point. Good. It’s about time that ACORN was revealed as the corrupt org it is. What’s making me smile at the moment, though, is the connections being drawn in the news to Barack Obama. Again, I say, it’s about time… past it, rather, that people started figuring this stuff out. Boortz, this morning, gives us an example. Says he:
  

  So we have yet another ACORN outrage story. This time we have a family in Connecticut who is shocked to learn that their 7-year-old daughter had been registered to vote by ACORN. Then we learn that the girl may have been registered by a “drug-addicted relative.” Gee, that makes me feel a lot better.

  I have to say I’m not comfortable with the numbers of registrations being offered fraudulently. I mean, look, it’s true, we’ve caught some of the fraud, before it turned into votes. But how much of this fraud is turning into Democrat votes? It’s not like they’re not trying to turn the fraud into votes counted. Thanks to the efforts of partisans like the Ohio Secratary of state, we’ll never know until it’s far too late. I think it obvious, that’s what they’ve got in mind.  I think it telling that the false registrations are going four to one Democrat.  Boortz notes this too.

  The plan here is to flood voter registration offices with so many applications that it will be impossible for the registration officials to decide which are valid and which are not. The goal is chaos on election day – and Democrats ready to raise the roof if anything is done to seek out unqualified voters and send them home.

  Yes, I think Boortz is correct. No, I’d not put it past ACORN. Nor, I think you should know, do I put it past the Democrats to be making an organized effort to win this election via fraud. I think, though, it speaks to the level of confidence they have in their ability to win the election via legal means, that they have to employ such methods as we’ve described here.

• OK, yes, it’s the National Enquirer. Yes, nobody else is covering the story. Yes, there’s a Clintonista running the place.  But given that on three occasions in the last six months by my count, they’ve managed to scoop the MSM with accurate stories that seriously damaged Obama’s campaign,  you really have to wonder about this. Dan Riehl describes the story this way:
  

  .Okay, to summarize – from the time he was a child until he was a young man, I guess, Barack Obama drank whiskey, wrote dirty limericks, read poetry and, um, was counseled by a sexual deviant, child molester, rapist of children? That about cover it? And in his book he said it had a lasting effect on him? .

  Well…. actually, I don’t wonder at all. I believe it.  Here’s the thing: Of late the National Enquirer has shown itself to be of greater trustworthiness than has Obama, or the remainder of the MSM.  Look, gang… this is not piling on, nor is it blaming the victim. I don’t recall Obama ever once claiming victim status at the hands of Davis.  I’m not about to blame someone for such misjudgements at age 10.

  The question being asked, however, is have those abilities improved since he became an adult.

  One assumes, for example he was an adult when he called the not so Rev. Jerry Wright his freind and mentor.

  Similarly, We must assume he was an adult when his ghost writer gushed over how Davis was his mentor.

  We must assume he was an adult when he started dealing with Tony Rezko and Bill Ayers. And so on, and so on.

  Apparently, then the answer to the question is ‘no’, those abilities have not gotten a bit better. Since Obama’s entire claim at legitimacy for the office of POTUS rests on his supposedly ‘superior judgements’, this report, in combo with the remainder of the judgement issues we’ve explored here and wlewhere,  would seem quite important, indeed.

• LGF has noted what it calls Ugly Misogyny at the Official Obama Blog Site Anyone who thinks this is a new thing for Democrats has obviously nt been at the Democratic Underground of late.
• I predicted last night that the scandal surrounding Florida Democrat Tim Mahoney, would be quickly swept under the rug. Fox was the only one I saw even mentioning the story, so I may have been more right than I knew.
• Let’s see. An all -time-record up day on Wall Street yesterday. Another huge up day today. Is it OK to blame Bush?
• Obama has said he will meet with Iran with no preconditions. Now he’s denying what he said, of course but that’s normal. He’s a Democrat, after all. But now, Bruce notes, Iran has set preconditions for a meeting.

Are some of Barack Obama’s supporters dumber than an unbaked brick?   From the evidence furnished, the answer appears to be yes.   Fom the Sister, Howard Stern, the shock-jock of considerable ego and modest talent, has produced the video clip of the campaign:

I can’t say how representative Howie’s sample is, but these voters didn’t appear too hard to find.

As longtime readers will know well, I have never been impressed with Paul Krugman, except in the extreme negative. As an example a comment from a few months ago:

I‘ll open this by saying that by rights, and in a sane world, Paul Krugman should be hammered flat on economics, and drummed from his perch at the New York Times. However, let’s admit this isn’t a sane world, and Krugman and the New York Times deserve each other.

The only thing that keeps Krugman in the Tofu is the GED’s that still think he’s impressive. Most other folks, not so much. Of course there’s the hard left that worships on his altar, but they’d worship anything that mouthed what they want to hear. Krugman certainly does that. In both cases, Krugman knows where his target audience is, and writes to them. But the relationship between Krugman and truth is non-exsistant.

Of course, now over the weekend, the leftists posing as economists got together and tagged Krugman with the Nobel prize for economics. Billy points out this morning that it’s not really a Nobel prize at all, by way of a link to Skip Oliva.

That point said and aside, it does strike me, though, that the recent traditions at Nobel are being kept by this offshoot. Find the farthest left crackpot, and laud him as some sort of visionary. We saw it for example, with Al Gore.  You may recall I had a few choice words for that nonsense, as well, as has David, both listed here.

Jonah correctly points out that the defense of the man by his fans has always taken on a certain quality of crazy.  It boils down to, as he says “I’ve always found his columns persuasive so his academic work must be right too.” Well, it may well be that such columns prove persuasive to those who lean that way already and are disinclined to do the actual research work.

It seems to me this comes down to practical application, if nothing else. Our current economic situation… the direct result of the socialism Krugman pushes in his written work,  came upon us unmarked and unheralded by Krugman. Shouldn’t someone of such vission have seen this big a wave coming?  The sheer impact of the thing would seem require at least an ‘oops’ from the man, after the fact.  Now, as a rule, I tend to not read Krugman, anymore, so it’s possible that he’s addressed these current concerns, and I’ve missed it. But I will for the moment and barring proof otherwise, assume I’m not in error, here, and say he’s not so much as made mention of the whole thing in public, and if he has, he’s certainly not laid the problem at the feet of socialism as we have here at BitsBlog.

So, what can be said of an economist who misses predicting an economic event the size of the recent crashes? Perhaps given that the crashes are the direct result of policies he pushes, one might say he was a political  hack. Look at the BitsBlog link from last August, and you may note I did more than just that. But looking at the recent list of Nobel recipiants, we’re left with the idea that leftist political hacks are exactly the type of inDUHvidual who seems to get honored as a matter of routine by the Nobel people.

What, in turn, then, does that say about the Nobel people?

In January, Mrs. Clinton proposed a mortatorium on mortage foreclosures.   As surely as natural fertilizer is aromatic, BO denounced Mrs. Clinton’s proposal.

In San Antonio on Tuesday, Obama said that Clinton’s foreclosure freeze was potentially “disastrous,” rewarding “people who made this problem worse” by benefiting banks that profit from high mortgage rates.

A “blanket freeze,” Obama added, might “drive rates through the roof for those trying to buy or refinance. Experts say the value of homes will fall even more, and even more families could face foreclosure.”

Today, BO again demonstrates Geraghty’s law, “[BO] calls for 90-day moratorium on foreclosures:”

TOLEDO, Ohio – Democrat Barack Obama proposed more immediate steps Monday to heal the nation’s ailing economy including a 90-day moratorium on home foreclosures at some banks and a two-year tax break for businesses that create new jobs

BO is simple to figure out.  His opponent’s idea are rash, stupid, reckless and irresponsible.   Whereas his are brillant, or so sayeth BO.

What BO is proposiing to to do the liberal thing, and spend other peoples’ money.  Rather than having the public buy up the bad mortages, an idea of which I less than thrilled about, BO simply proposes to the banks eat the bad ones.   BO sees and obligation on the part of bank to make risky loans, but little oblgation the the mortagees to actually repay the debt they incurred.   I concur with BO’s thought’s of January, and you?

This is getting interesting:

Rep. Tim Mahoney paid $121,000 to a former mistress who worked on his staff and sued him after he threatened her job when she tried to end the relationship, former and current staff aides told ABC News on Monday.
Mahoney, D-Fla., won his congressional seat in 2006 after Rep. Mark Foley, a Republican, was forced to resign in the wake of a scandal involving a congressional page.

According to ABC News, Mahoney, who is married, started an affair with Patricia Allen while campaigning against Foley on a morality platform. Allen came on to his staff after he won the election in 2006, but when complaints about the alleged affair surfaced, Mahoney moved Allen to the campaign staff, aides told the broadcast network.

ABC reported Allen tried to break off the affair after learning Mahoney was supposedly cheating on her and his wife with other women. In response, he threatened her job, ABC reported.

“You work at my pleasure,” Mahoney told Allen in a taped Jan. 20, 2008, telephone call played for Mahoney staffers, ABC reported.

House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel spoke to Mahoney in early 2007 about his personal conduct, FOX News confirmed Monday. Emanuel formerly headed the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the panel charged with electing Democrats to Congress.

Sources told FOX News that Emanuel did not know the woman was a staff aide or that payments were being offered to her until informed by ABC News.

“Upon hearing a rumor, Congressman Emanuel confronted Congressman Mahoney, told him he was in public life and had a responsibility to act accordingly and appropriately, and urged him to do so. They had no further conversations on this topic,” an aide to Emanuel said in a statement.

Bull cookies. The idea that Rahm Emanuel was even brought in speaks to the idea that he was running cover for Mahoney. Indeed, another feed from ABC puts it this way:

According to the ABC story, senior Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives, including Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), the chair of the Democratic Caucus, have been working with Mahoney to keep the matter from hurting his re-election campaign.

Leaders like, Nancy Pelosi, for example?

Which leads us to another question: Where’d the money for the payoff come from? Campaign contributions, per chance?

The idea that this occurred in Palm, Mark Foley’s old district, raises another question; Will the Democrats, and the press be as vigorous about getting Tim Mahoney out of office as they were about Foley?

Obviously, the answer is no, since we see in the ABC story that the Democrat leadership has been trying to sweep this under the rug.

Can we depend on the press to be running stuff on this case every hour on the hour as they did in the case of Foley?

We, no, we cannot, since it’s been going on for some time now and we’re just now staring to see some mentions of it.

No, this stuff is going to be swept under the rug, as it has been with EVERY Democrat scandal in recent memory.

• Oh, speaking of Billy… I’d say “culturally tenderized” is as apt a description for the educational process I’ve been talking about, as any I’ve ever seen. What happened to her is alas, a microcosm for what’s happening to the country as a whole. This, however, is far more basic than a situation of learning about various areas of the country. This is a teachable moment about how not all cultures are equal, or even good. For example; Is it possible that the lower ninth was left to fend for itself because enough people  saw the place for what it is?
• Verdon and I are often in disagreement.  This isn’t one of those times.

Iran has issued her terms for face to face to face meeting with the United States,

TEHRAN (FNA)- Vice President for Media Affairs Mehdi Kalhor said on Saturday that Iran has set two preconditions for holding talks with the United States of America.

In an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency, he said as long as U.S. forces have not left the Middle East region and continues its support for the Zionist regime, talks between Iran and U.S. is off the agenda.

It is the Americans who are in dire need of reestablishing ties with Iran, he underlined.

I must say, I’ve had running disagreements with you on and off in the past, most of which haven’t been worth bothering with… but this is so far out there I have to say I’m disappointed.

You’ve gotta be kidding, or perhaps you’ve just not had your coffee yet. The title of your post should be “Incoherency”.  Even absent the statements of the “New Party” themselves, trust me Ann, the rest of us out here  know socialists when we see them, even if you apparently cannot… and the left end of the Democrat party is a reasonable place to start to look for them. Barack Obama, being the farthest left candidate the Democrats have ever fielded,  is a socialist.

The New Party was not intended to be mainstream, it was set up by socialists who want to pass themselves off as mainstream. Major difference. That philosophy, by the way, is likely the best explanation of Obama’s tactics and public statements you’re likely to see on the web.

Ann, may I suggest you get out of Madison? The liberals up there are dulling your senses as to what is and is not mainstream American, and what is and is not socialist. On your way out, you MAY want to do some investigation into the history of the party:

In other words, Ann, these are socialists trying to dress up as something “new”. Their big problem was that the Democrats didn’t lean far enough left.  Such is Obama, himself.

• First things first: Honorable mention at OTB’s Caption Contest for the boss. I liked John’s Birth control one, myself.
• Stocks went nutzoid this morning. going up nealy 700 points in two hours, then spent the rest of the day dwindling… albeit more slowly. It appears there’s support around 7800 or so.
• Great quote, Billy… and  it goes directly to my point of last night’s Ramble, about this being an educational process.   Oh.. and if you’re ready for this, Billy, I actually got feedback, busting on me because I was spending so much time ‘trying to beat Billy up”. Clearly, there’s someone who doesn’t know you very well. Or me, for that matter. 
• Oil’s down to $79 as of this morning.
• Boortz this morning, links a Washington Times article,  diving deeper into the activities of Obama in Iraq…we reported here a month back… with Obama  trying to sway foriegn policy.
• Speaking of Boortz, he mentions this morning, that of the large numbers of fraudulent mortgages out there, are in the hands of illegal aliens. As I explained to my wife, this morning this kinda thing is exactly why I’ve been screaming about closing the damned borders. I can’t go on the basis that the Democrats are so stupid they didn’t figure this problem wasn’t going to come back and bite us. It’s becoming inescapable that it’s been planned this way. As Boortz points out, and rightly:
  

  But here’s some history to consider. We know for a fact that there are states out there, like California, that knowingly allow illegal immigrants to buy homes. Guess who you can thank for that aiding that little scheme? ACORN. Yes, ACORN. Barack Obama’s very favorite … Take a look at this story from November of 2005. Here’s how it begins: “For many, it’s the American dream: owning a home. With the recent spike in housing costs, it’s become more difficult for many Valley families to qualify for a home loan. But some local banks are giving out loans, and they don’t even require a social security number.”Isn’t that amazing?! No Social Security number. That would be code for “making a loan to an illegal alien.” What they actually end up using are Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, or I-TIN, to secure these mortgages. While these numbers are supposed to be for foreign-born residents who live legally in the United States, it is common knowledge that these numbers are used primarily by illegal aliens.

  Moving right along … the article tells a little story about David the illegal immigrant. When David, a criminal, wanted to get a home, who did he go to for help? ACORN. The article says, “The Valley non-profit group Acorn is helping people like David. They set him up with Citibank in Fresno, where a social security number is not required.”

  Remember, gang, Acorn are Obama’s people.  Combine that with the story we ran here this morning, and the vote fraud etc etc and we start getting a picture of how we’d be under an Obama presidency.

• Speaking of Acorn and Vote fraud, guess which party benefitted from Acorn’s vote fraud by a 4 to 1 margin?
• And we see Acorn’s fingerprints all over another 4000 confirmed cases of voter fraud in Houston.
• I think I should point a couple things out, about vote fraud charges currently under consideration. Joyner points up yesterday, (Ironiclly, in an article about registration levels in Indy being at 105%…) that registration fraud doesn’t equal vote fraud.  IE; we can’t PROVE that registrations submitted fraudulently, are being used to generate actual votes. He points out that the ones being caught in the system certainly are not. However, that argument seems a little thin, to me, for several reasons.First off, we have Ohio, where the Secretary of state…a Democrat, and of whom, Obama is quoted as saying he’s comfortable with having her counting votes, who had to be court ordered to filter out the fraudulent applications.  Her level of compliance with that order would seem a question mark, given the law there, along with common freaking sense, would make such a ruling unnecessary at the off. Clerly, she wasn’t interested in removing the Democrat-leaning ACORN fruad from the voting system.  That’s one example we know of, and I have no cause to think we won’t find similar situations elsewhere.Secondly, Any group that can slip these large numbers of fraudulent voter applications into the system isn’t going to have much in the way of problems getting actual fraudulent votes on the boards. We’re talking about bureaucratic incompetence, at least and in some cases, such as Ohio, we’re talking about the apparent aiding abetting outright vote fraud.And remember, these large numbers we’re seeing reported on, are only the ones we KNOW about. The numbers of the ones we’ve found out about suggest an iceberg scenario, with the obvious fraud being merely the tip of the ‘berg.  Who knows how many fraudulent registrations are being used to generate fraudulent VOTES?
• Glenn points out Rand Simberg at PJM saying that even to his supporters, Obama is a question mark. I wonder, looking back, if that lack of real understanding isn’t why he’s as successful as he is.
• Speaking of Glenn, he says, this morning:
  

  OOPS: Obama’s Staff Slips Up With Muslim Outreach. “The Obama campaign said it was a mistake for an outreach coordinator to join a meeting last month attended by leaders of two controversial Muslim groups as it seeks votes from large Muslim populations in swing states. . . . Participants included leaders of the Council of American-Islamic Relations and the Muslim American Society, which have been cited by the government in the past for ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.”

  Yeah, well what I didn’t mention in that article of this morning regardsObama’s ties with Odinga… Odinga is seeking the expansion of Sharia law there in Kenya… a point Obama and his peope unquestionably know about. So, a mistake here? Their big mistake, I think, was letting people find out about it. Past that, it’s all planned, folks. As I suggested in that article about Odinga… the similarities are too long to be coincidence. 

• As a final thought for tonight… I really need to get the trailer ready to go… I sometimes wonder if even Reagan could salvage the country at this point. Now, mind, I’m not just talking about the election, but it certainly is an indicator of what our nation is up against, in terms of socialism and it’s consequences, including the amount of flat out lies and fraud being spread in support of it. Add to that the lack of education about our country and our culture, which is the key support element. and is exactly why we should conisder the spectre of a Billy Ayers as an ‘educational reformer’ to be as the finger of doom.   As I said to Billy last night,  Is there anyone left on the planet who doesn’t understand that the elections tilting ever father left with the Democrats offering socialist moral midgets such as Bill Clinton and Barry O, and the Republicans offering mere centrists is the result of a decades long educational process? What have we offered to counter it? Clearly… Not enough.  Have we so lost our national soul that we’re overcome by socialist driven fraud? It’s more than beginning to look that way.  Trust me when I say I take no pleasure at all from saying this, but there it is. the dispicable fraud of socilaism itself aside, there’s a lot of fraud pushing us in that direction.  Frankly, it makes me wonder about our survival as a country.  As I said above, it’s become inescapable that things are going as they are because of a plan… such a perfect storm could hardly have been so perfectly effective in putting us in a box, by mere chance.   Angry? You bet I’m angry. But mostly, I’m sad, at the moment.  This is, dear reader, the direct result of the proclivity of taking all political angles and movements as equally valid, under the ‘we’re all Americans’ BS. Clearly, some of us are not… and they’re getting the upper hand at the moment. I suppose some lessons need re-learning.
