Nightly Ramble: They’re Both Correct, a Lot of Bull,Next Came the Hispanics, Reno, Rezko, And the Reject

• I see where Romney and McCain are trading insults, both saying to one another, that they’re liberal. Of course, long term readers of this blog will understand something many other have not yet… they’re both correct.
• I hear there’s a lotta bull in Cincinnati
• Tottne talks about our last Mission in Falujah  Remember, the left is trying to tell us this is not progress.
• Well, after alienating blacks on South Carolina, you could pretty much expect to see Hillary Clinton pandering to Hispanics, and perhaps even trying to fake speaking Spanish. This would be true regardless of the pressure currently being put on her by the Hispanic groups on her statements about ‘shipping them back’.   She’s eben back and forth over the line on this topic sooften the line itself is showing the wear and tear. What wasn’t expected was Obama trying to strike first by proposing and promoting the idea of driver’s licenses for illegals. I wonder if he’s not just done the dog, here. OK, yeah, he talks about linking such a proposal to tougher legislation on illegals within the first year.  How Clintonesque of him. Didn’t Bill Clinton offer tax cuts within the first year, and go back on the promise within 48 hours of assuming office?
• Not to suggest that such nonsense only happens on one side of the isle, and I know we’ve mentioned this guy before, today, but did you know that  John McCain’s Hispanic outreach director is a Mexican Citizen?
• Janet Reno has endorsed Hillary Clinton.  No surprise. I hear, though, that support is a little shaky.
• Tony Rezko has been arrested. What will be amazing is the number of people photographed with him, that say they don’t know him. Democrats, mostly. Again, this is Chicago, we’re talking about.
• OK, so Krugman is convinced, as he is every time someone not a Democrat is in the White House, hat the economy is in shambles. Well, let’s review a few things. Personal income is up to the tune of 6%.  Before the stimulus package, real GDP is projected to grow 3.5% in 2008, and the likelihood of recession is at 10%. With the stimulation offered the last week or three, those numbers look remarkably better still.  Indeed, we’re looking at a large economic growth curve for 2008.  If you’re concerned about the prime mortgage mess.. the one the Demorats in Congress caused trying to ‘help the poor’, let’s consider that the total capital outlay even if they ALL go belly up is 0.3%. That’s hardly worrisome.  More at the WSJ, today.  Too bad Krugman has to deal with nasty facts that don’t fit his myopic worldview, huh?

As Bit warned, Senator Oldsmobile has endorsed Barack Obama.   Otherwise stated,  misogynist drunk fails to endorse misogynist Clintons   It seems hard of imagine that any behavior would become too repulsive for a Kennedy.  Yet that the Clintons have even managed that.   You would not have thought it possible.

Putting victims in jail.   A woman complained that she spend a night in jail because her husband/boy friend beat her.  She woman called the police.   When she failed to press charges,  the police jailed her for filing a false complaint.   It was not the first time she has called the police.   She feels she does not want to file a complaint because that would result in a temporary restraining order and she believes she would have no place to live.   I do not condone domestic violence.  However women who continue to tolerate being abused aggravate and frustrate me.  The are limits to what we as society can do when the woman refuses to help herself.  Now tell why do we need a dependent woman, and enabler, as commander-in-chief.

In a civilized society, a rapist-in-chief, like B.J. Clinton would never be let back into power, or even near the White House, without an armed escort.

1) McCain seems to have conned a lot of Republicans into thinking he’s transformed his position on immigration–for example, Victor Davis Hanson, author of “Mexifornia,” who now writes about “McCain’s won’t-make-that-mistake-again changed views on closing the border.” This even though it’s obvious to anyone paying attention that McCain hasn’t altered his ultimate support for legalization of illegals (once he’s declared the border “secure”). One reason we know this is because he’s said it–he said it again on Meet the Press yesterday, when asked if he’d sign the McCain-Kennedy “comprehensive” immigration bill as president if it came to his desk. Answer: “Yeah.”

No kidding.

And frankly,  I think this the worst of his transgressions, going into this election.  I can certainly understand him popping off on Rumsfeld, but I don’t have to like him for it. But this open borders nonsense, as Michelle has been mentioning for days now (And I note David echoing this morning) …. is unforgivable.

What I do not understand is VDH buying into it.  Even assuming Hanson’s very generous (to the point of intentional blindness) read of McCain is correct, what we have is McCain trying to dishonestly play both sides of the street, given some of the articles up on Hernandez’ web site.

And even assuming McCain denouncing these views, we then have a question of our ability to trust him to stick to the new respect for secure borders…. and not go marching off Maverick Lane, back down to Open Borders Boulevard.

Christian Bando is dead at 49.

Let’s see, here. Mother lost custody of him because of what the courts decided was a dependency on drugs and alcohol. And Christian, with his mother as a shining example,  dies of exactly that, 49 years later.

Take a close look at the Hollywood lifestyle and the misery that goes with it. If you’re going to take advice on how to make the world a better place, take it from people whose lives are not riddled with one thoughtless, risky, destructive choice after another.

Trouble can come to any family; but Hollywood too often seeks it out. Celebrity is everything; rebellion is celebrated even when it’s damaging; and traditional values that have stood the test of time are given about as much respect as tissue paper. It’s a prescription for troubled lives. I feel especially sorry for children raised in Hollywood. That’s why I note the death of Christian Brando with sadness — not because he was a saint — he certainly wasn’t — but because he didn’t stand a chance.

I am impressed by the Michelle Malkin’s army.   One of Michelle’s readers nailed John McCain for having open borders and anti-security advocate Dr. Juan Hernandez on his campaign.

A few facts.

Dr. Juan Hernandez is a Mexican citizen. 

Hernandez is on the John McCain campaign’s staff, as Hispanic Outreach Director.

Hernandez agrees with McCain’s positions on immigration.

Hernandez believes in open borders and that Mexicans and Americans of Mexican descent should think Mexico first.   To be blunt, Hernandez is not first an American.

Hernandez supports illegal immigrants stealing Social Security numbers.

The Boston Globe is reporting that Teddy “Hang a left off the bridge” Kennedy will be endorsing Barack Obama on Monday.

WASHINGTON — Boston Globe– Senator Edward M. Kennedy will endorse Barack Obama for president tomorrow, breaking his year-long neutrality to send a powerful signal of where the legendary Massachusetts Democrat sees the party going — and who he thinks is best to lead it.

Kennedy confidantes told the Globe today that the Bay State’s senior senator will appear with Obama and Kennedy’s niece, Caroline Kennedy, at a morning rally at American University in Washington tomorrow to announce his support.

That will be a potentially significant boost for Obama as he heads into a series of critical primaries on Super Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Well, frankly, that’s overly generous, I think.  The best Obama can hope for is that such an endorsement doesn’t cause his chance too much damage. AFter all, a country wanting to get away from someone whith a legacy of philandering and covering it up, can hardly do better by taking the advice of someone who actually killed a woman in that process.

I keep thinking about Martin Luther King’s admonition on the content of character. There is an aspect of Obama which is positively in accord with that, which is the fact that people in this country want socialism now. In this aspect, Obama’s political character is the “content” in demand. There is, however, far more than that going on in the breasts of the whoopers at the street level. I don’t think that they would be jumping up and down for him so hoppily if he weren’t so progressively slick. Consider that Walter E. Williams could never attract this kind of attention. Hell; Bill Cosby wouldn’t even be able to do it.

Nature of the beast. The frenzy needs be replaced, one for another, to the precise degree the first candidate has lost his or her appeal. Think if Obama had lost, he’d not be ignoring it, now? Look at Edwards, and his reactions… at least, those you can find. His losing fight doesn’t fit the mantra, either, ya see…

And, of course given that these are Democrats we’re talking about, only the positive side of it is going to be mentioned in the MSM. And there’s the key.

Understand; I’m not convicned the PEOPLE want socialism, as much as the media is feeding the desire.  Think they’d be making noise about Hillary Care, if the press wasn’t chanting that mantra daily?   As much noise as Cosby made over the years, as regards individual responsibility, (God Bless him!) the press wouldn’t pay much attention to him, not because he didn’t have a following, not because there weren’t people who agreed with him… LOTS of people… but because he didn’t chant the socialism mantra.

This kind of ignoring the reality of the situation is of a piece, I think, with the delusional denial you speak of with Hillary Clinton and her loss in South Carolina. It doesn’t push the ball toward the goal of socialism, so it gets ignored. The group guilt you speak of can also be accounted for, this way.

Barack Obama,  think of him as toast.  Just a few weeks ago Obama was the candidate who happened to be black who won in whiter than table salt Iowa.   Now Obama is the black candidate who won South Carolina..  The Clintons have transformed Obama from a candidate who was black to a black candidate.   Obama won Iowa in large part because he was not running as a black candidate.   After Obama won South Carolina, B.J. Clinton compared Obama to Jesse Jackson.

In the wake of Monica, B.J. used the Reverend Jackson to redeem himself.   When B.J. needed to saved, he used Jackson as his savior.  When B.J. wanted to smear  Obama as a black candidate, B.J. used Jackson.  With the Clintons, everybody is expendable.   Welcome to the club Jesse.

The fact is that Bill Clinton is not and never has been a great vote-getter, certainly not for other candidates.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – AP- Barack Obama routed Hillary Rodham Clinton in the racially charged South Carolina primary Saturday night, regaining campaign momentum in the prelude to a Feb. 5 coast-to-coast competition for more than 1,600 Democratic National Convention delegates.Former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina was running third, a sharp setback in the state where he was born and scored a primary victory in his first presidential campaign four years ago.About half the voters were black, according to polling place interviews, and four out of five of them supported Obama. Black women turned out in particularly large numbers. Obama, the first-term Illinois senator, got a quarter of the white vote while Clinton and Edwards split the rest.

Fox is calling it a rout. They report at this writing that Obama got 51% of the vote, and Hillary Clinton got 29%.  Edwards got 20% That’s with 7% reporting. I’ll be interested in seeing the rest of the state.

There was no one more proud to be both an American and a Marine, than Rafael Peralta.

That much is obvious when you read the man’s whole story, as McQ posts it this morning.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (Jan. 23, 2008) â?? Coalition forces killed 15 terrorists Tuesday and Wednesday during operations targeting al-Qaeda networks north of Baqubah.

One of the most amusing things about this election season is the creeping realization of the left that what we’ve been saying on the right about Bill And Hillary Clinton all these years was correct.  You can see the re-assessment process in their eyes when the subject comes up. You can almost hear the wheels turning in online conversations.  None of them, however has been more amusing than the specter of Jonathan Chait, in the LA Times, hardly a bastion of right wing thought, taking note of it all, and trying to blame it all on the black guy:

The sentiment seems to be concentrated among Barack Obama supporters. Going into the campaign, most of us liked Hillary Clinton just fine, but the fact that tens of millions of Americans are seized with irrational loathing for her suggested that she might not be a good Democratic nominee. But now that loathing seems a lot less irrational. We’re not frothing Clinton haters like … well, name pretty much any conservative. We just really wish they’d go away.

It sounds like the Democrats in general and Chait in particular, are willing to admit what we’ve been saying about the Clintons all along, but given what they’d be accepting they were complicit in, they’re unwilling to go the whole route. Surber does a decent job of listing the lies Chait and his type were spreading throughout the 90’s:

Chiat – who is our moral and intellectual superior simply by calling himself a liberal – is coming to grips with something everyone on the right knew 10 years ago.

And yet brave people like Matt Drudge, like Lucianne Goldberg and like Linda Tripp still were brave enough to speak the truth to power.

They did not make up the sex scandal.

They did not make up the perjury.

They did not make up the coverup.

Ah yes, the coverup. Whatever happened to that Watergate era mantra from the left that the coverup is worse than the crime?

It was replaced by the preposterous mantra sex is private.

Tell that to Mark Foley, Larry Craig, Newt Gingrich …

Really. You can see the truth dawning on Chait as his brain recovers, albeit slightly, from Clinton fever:

Am I starting to sound like a Clinton hater? It’s a scary thought. Of course, to conservatives, it’s a delicious thought. The Wall Street Journal published a gloating editorial noting that liberals had suddenly learned “what everyone else already knows about the Clintons.” (By “everyone,” it means Republicans.)

Not at all; I submit they were including what few people were under the category of “responsible Democrats”, anymore.  (Hint, that doesn’t include you.) You may recall there was a small minority of them all through the 90’s who decried the animals the Clintons were. You ignored them, and instead championed the Clintons, made excuses for their misdeeds, and generally told the world to pay no attention to the woman behind the curtain over there… and the outright criminality, the lies, and other misdeeds.

Old habits die hard, though, as Chait aptly demonstrates:

So maybe the answer is that the Clintons would have smeared their opponents in the 1990s, but lying is unnecessary when the other party is doing things such as voting to slash Medicare to pay for a big tax cut for the rich.

(Oh, pleeeaaaasssssseeee)

It’s knee-jerk, anymore, isn’t it? The Democrat loyalists simply cannot stop themselves from chanting the mantra, even when it’s been proven false, and it’s loudest proponants are proven liers… a status which even Chait is now willing to consider. They recognize the Clintons and their behavior is a problem, but they can’t stop the behavior (Lying, in this case) even in themselves. Then again, not lying, or getting caught at lying, would be grounds for dismissal from Chait’s main gig, Sr. Editor at The New Republic, right?

You dug your own grave on this, Chait. You and the rest of the Democrats. The signs were all there.  And we told you all about them for over a decade. It was all a vast right wing conspiracy, though, remember?
