Mrs. Clinton Makes Her Stand

Mrs.  Clinton, the clueless one, who is billed by her husband, as some sort of “World Class Genius” , and calls herself tough, finally found somebody  she was had the backbone which to stand-up against..

Mrs. Ciinton stood-up to Micheal Moore:

Two months ago, Rolling Stone magazine asked me to do a cover story where I would ask the hard questions that no one was asking in one-on-one interviews with Senators Clinton, Obama and Edwards. “The Top Democrats Face Off with Michael Moore.” The deal was that all three candidates had to agree to let me interview them or there was no story. Obama and Edwards agreed. Mrs. Clinton said no, and the cover story was thus killed.

Why would the love of my life, Hillary Clinton, not sit down to talk with me? What was she afraid of?

Standing up to Moore is not exactlly like standing up to Hugo Chavez, the Mad Moolahs of Iran, or even the National Education Association, but for the woman who yearns to be our nation’s Coward-in-Chief, it is one small step.

Micheal, don’t take it personally  Mrs. Clinton is not trying to snub you.   She is afraid of all questions.   Courage is just not Mrs. Clinton’s department.

The latest news from Iowa? According to Zogby’s latest—and I quote: “Sen. Fred Thompson…has seen a late-breaking surge.” (Rich notes the same poll below.)

What’s going on here? My guess is that there are whole lot of Iowa Republicans who have about the same attitude that David Limbaugh displayed in his column yesterday:

Fred is the only [candidate] I don’t have major reservations about….I find his lack of “fire in the belly” refreshing. He strikes me as one of the few presidential candidates since Ronald Reagan whose primary motivation is not personal aggrandizement but rather serving and leading the nation in very troubled and dangerous times. I see him as almost being drafted into this project, and his refusal to drool publicly over the prospect of becoming the most powerful man in the world is positively delightful.

That said, he needs to make a more convincing case to the voters, which will require a greater display of enthusiasm that he views these as both perilous and promising times and that he is the best man, overall, to navigate the ship of state through these times.

So, Fred, please, as distasteful as it may be to you, it’s time to step up and prove you want it.

Iowa Republicans, in other words, have wanted Thompson to do them the courtesy of actually campaigning—and now they’re beginning to realize that he has.

Don’t get all self-important, there, Peter. I know the press likes to think itself the center of the Universe, but that’s not what’s happening out here in the real world. The real story is that people have finally gotten round to looking, really looking at the frontrunners in the field and finding them seriously wanting, as we have here at BitsBlog for some months.

Don’t be shocked if Thompson comes up big, tonight.

I hate argument by analogy, but here it goes anyhow.   I think honest conservatives can agree that no candidate is the next Ronald Reagan.   Fred is certainly not.   

However if Fred is going to win, and the country needs Fred to win, he going to have to run like the Gipper.   Reagan won dispite, and not because of the press.  The media wants a democrat president and will do what ever it takes to get the weakest possible republican nominee.   Hence the media’ love affair with John McCain eight years ago, their affair with Mike Huckabee and their return to McCain.

Oh, spare me the lectures about torture, and spare me the self-righteous legal sanctimony attached to the idea that someone actually did what needed to be done to save American lives. What was the purpose of maintaining those tapes, given that the event was fully documented?  So they could end up on youtube for someone’s political leverage? And of course, exposing the CIA operatives…. whose identities, when Valarie Plame was all the rage, they screamed should not be revealed. Funny how that concern melts away when there’s Republicans to bop off.

And spare me the nonsense about how Congress poking around this is a good thing. The bottom line is Congress is motivated not by some concern for their fellow man but to whip up the frenzy for the purpose of political revenge against a President they’ve been flat out desperate to get some advantage on for eight years.

A FANATICAL Pakistani cleric told The Sun yesterday of his chilling dream to turn the world Muslim – by force if necessary.

Qari Hifzur Rehamn, 60, spoke openly of imposing Islamic law’s stoning and beheading on Britain – as Pakistan was rocked by unrest over the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

He warned: “We want Islamic law for all Pakistan and then the world.

“We would like to do this by preaching. But if not then we would use force.”

Rehamn, 60, spoke in the Pakistani town of Kahuta as the call to prayer echoed over the dusty streets.

He is Imam of the town’s fundamentalist religious school or madrassa, where classes for kids as young as nine include Jihad or Holy War and barbaric punishments.

His teachings are frightening enough. But his mosque lies in the shadow of the secret bunker where Pakistan produces nuclear weapons.

And when asked if it would be right to nuke British infidels, he laughed and answered: “Probably.”

Do you even begin to understand what’s what, here?

Rehamn, in a flowing grey beard and turban, explained Islamic, or Sharia Law as we sat surrounded by some of his 250 students.

He said: “Adulterers who are married should be buried in earth to the waist and stoned to death.

“Homosexuals must be killed – it’s the only way to stop them spreading. It should be by beheading or stoning, which the general public can do.

“Thieves should have their hands cut off. Women should remain indoors and films and pop music should be banned.”

Where are the homosexual extra rights groups on this one? Where are the Feminist groups on this one? Why are they not heaping praise on George W Bush and the Republicans for pushing back into the stone age this kind of nonsense in Iraq and Afghanistan?

IRVING, Texas —AP- Police continued searching for a man suspected of shooting his two teenage daughters, including one who called 911 about an hour before officers found them dead in his taxi, police said.

Yaser Abdel Said, 50, of the Dallas suburb of Lewisville, is accused of shooting Sarah Yaser Said, 17, and Amina Yaser Said, 18, in his taxi Tuesday night and abandoning it in a parking lot, leaving them to die.

Police have not released a motive for the shootings, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported in its online edition Wednesday.

Yeah, well, we both know what went on here. A so-called “Honor killing”.

Police described Yaser Abdel Said as about 6-foot-2, weighing about 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black turtleneck shirt or sweater, a brown coat and tan pants. He is believed to be armed with a handgun, police said.

 In a surprise move Britney Spears legal team has quit. Their motion filed today to be relieved as counsel to Spears, attorneys at Trope and Trope have also revealed a range of new witnesses scheduled to be deposed in her ongoing custody battle with ex Kevin Federline.

Meanwhile the gossip pages are filled with word that Paris Hilton and  the aforementioned Federline are an “item”.

Oh, yeah, these kids are gonna be normal. What kind of life are these kids going to have? Certainly not normal by any stretch.

I’ve said it before and I will it again; there are certain among the species that should not breed.

Once upon a time, “Swift boat” denoted an obscure military vessel, but thanks to the activities of this group it has come to represent movement conservatism’s penchant for ruthlessly (and effectively) smearing any and all political opponents, from a sitting senator and war hero to an 11-year-old boy with a cranial fracture

Hayes bellyaches the Swift Boaters were effective, but fails to mention that the Swift Boat contribution paled in comparison to the ‘rats sugar daddy, George Soros:

The December 1, 2003, USA Today quoted Soros’s worth at “about $7 billion,” of which Soros had pledged “$15.5 million to anti-Bush, anti-conservative groups … giving $10 million to Americans Coming Together, $2.5 million to MoveOn.org, and $3 million to the Center for American Progress.” Soros was then in the process of “writing his own anti-Bush book. The Bubble of American Supremacy, a critique of the president’s foreign policy,” which hit bookstores in January 2004. [5]

Mike Huckabee spent his day fighting back against Rush Limbaugh, who says Huck isn’t a conservative. He then went on to detail several new government welfare programs.

John McCain battled the age issue, saying at Age 78… what he may (Or may not) be eight years from now, he’d have the stamina for the job… and also saying he’d answer more questions after his nap. If only they could keep the “Secure the Border’ people quiet, he might be able to get a little shuteye.

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney, whom McCain called a pig just recently, was making headway against the charge he had grunted derisively in reply. And speaking of spending, Romney is still stinging from Rudy Giulianni’s charges that government spending in his state grew by 8% in the 4 years he was in office.

And for his part, Giulianni is still on record against the line item veto which would be the single biggest boon to cutting government spending ever.

Oh… and yes, of course there’s Ron Paul, apparently for no other reason than for the entertainment factor. What’s a sitcom without a loony, after all?

Fred Thompson, meanwhile, keeps answering problems with specific ideas that make sense, almost never gets called out for his facts being wrong, and yet the press ignores him. Perhaps because among the whole mess of them, Thompson is the only conservative?

Micheal Niflis, Oregon Live, writes of his deranged hatred of people. 

Regarding the “bounty of babies” (Dec. 15), nothing could be more irresponsible — even disgusting — than superimposing a baby boom on top of our global warming crisis. That’s more gasoline on the fire.

It’s incredible that so few understand and are alarmed by the very high probability that humans will very soon be extinct if we don’t greatly reduce the number of people depending on the planet’s limited life-support systems

If Niflis honestly thought  that people were t he World’s problem, he’d be obligated to reduce the population by one.

I get a chuckle how these loud self-professed Christians think so little of trespassing.  It seems their version of the Bible does not prohibit stealing?

Charlie says was face to face with the suspect. “He just stare and looked at me for a minute. I cocked it back and then, all of a sudden, he laid it down on the counter and put all the money down

Armed citizens are free citizens and freedom is something to feel good about.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Mike Huckabee may have finally gone too far.

After running an unconventional, surprisingly strong and sometimes strange race to the top tier of the Republican presidential campaign, the former Arkansas governor topped himself Monday with a campaign stunt that smacked of hypocrisy.

He called a news conference to unveil a negative ad that he had just withdrawn from Iowa television stations because, he told a room full of journalists recording the ad, he had a sudden aversion to negative politics. Quite a convenient epiphany.

“If people want to be cynical about it,” Huckabee said, “they can be cynical about it.”

If he loses Iowa‘s caucuses, New Year’s Eve will forever mark the day Huckabee blew it — the day a crowd stopped laughing with the witty Republican and laughed at him.

Well, look;

While I doubt Huckabee will really pay a price for this one… (Of itself anyway, though it will add to his resume)… it is in the end Huckabee, himself who is being cynical… I daresay it’s the kind of cynicism that has hardly been seen before in any candidacy, with the possible exception of Hillary Clinton. I am reminded of a classic Daffy Duck cartoon called “To Duck or not to Duck”:

Noted over at Samzidata: Paul Marks makes a point I’ve been making:

 This morning Fox and Friends concentrated on three candidates in relation the Iowa caucuses on Thursday night: the two lead candidates in the polls, Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney – and John McCain… this was in spite of the fact that Senator McCain is not in Iowa (he is in New Hampshire) and that Fred Thompson is ahead of John McCain is most of Iowa polls.

This is a part of pattern: last night Fred Thompson was on Fox News Sunday, but in the panel discussion, later in the show, the panellists ignored Fred Thompson. He is attacked by people, including me, for not going on enough television shows – but when he does go on what he says is ignored, so perhaps I see why he does not clamour to go on. Yesterday morning Fox and Friends, like the rest of the media, was busy laughing at Fred Thompson’s comments about not being obsessed with politics: “If one is not passionate about campaigning one should not run for office,” was the message of the media.

But what sort of person is passionate about the political process? Not getting things done – but the process of gaining votes. Of going around pretending to be close personal friends with lots and lots of people one has never met before?

Fred Thompson is in the middle of a 40 town Iowa tour – so he is hardly lazy. And he does go on television shows – thus dealing with critics, such as myself, who attacked him for not going on enough shows. But what sort of person would enjoy all this?

A lunatic. Someone who was interested in office for its own sake – not as a means to reduce the size and scope of government.

Well, that’s pretty much the point I was making the other day. One can easily understand why Thompson isn’t overly happy about showing up for this stuff. And it all meshes rather nicely with what he’s been saying, all along.
And I think Paul’s correct as regards Fox. So much for the myth that Fox leans right… they have a genuine conservative in their midst, and ignore him in favor of the RINOs like McCain, who don’t even bother to show up in the state.

“Fire in the Belly”, ok Fred is a little short in this department.   Yet Mrs. Clinton has an extreme case of Fire in the Womb”  but is dumber  than a sack of potatos.   Fred is rational, sane, has understanding of the power and role of government  and has a grasp of the real world in which we live.   Who else comes close?   Joe Biden and John McCain to some degree.

We need a leader and not a cheerleader. ?
