Correct. And it all meshes, all too comfortably with all politics of all the people around the man.

Oh… and shall we look at Obama’s book for confirmation? Fine. We turn to page 100 and 101 where we find:

It’s very clear, he’s never grown out of those realationships or the politics that sprung from them.

There will be of course by those seeking to deny such connections for their own reasons. Perhaps hoping to slip this guy in under the radar?

• Is there doubt in anyone’s mind that this incursion into personal freedom is going to happen, if/when Democrats get into power?  Of course, consider the discussion about rationality we had yesterday… some idiots consider this a good thing.(Shake of the head)
• Boortz is on freakin’ FIRE today.
• Yeah, I gotta agree, Billy, that IS lame  in today’s world. I wonder, though, about the reasons behind it; Are they something unique to South Africa?
• There’s still questions about Dodd and campaign funding. If Dodd were a Republican and guilty of one Iota of what we know about him, the Democrats would be making his behavior a campaign issue.
• Stumbled over this one while looking up something else. If we’re to believe this poll, more Americans know about Joe the Plumber than they do about Obama and his ties to ACORN. Here comes the ‘educational’ aspects of all this again.
• They found Jennifer Hudson’s Nephew. Dead, of course.  I don’t suppose I need to comment on this; The raw facts do a fair enough job for the readership of this blog. But note the distinction I make. See, I wonder how many will take the points out and I find obvious, as such.  Not enough, I expect.
• Spam.  I’ve recently done some serious work to eliminate trackback and comment spam from BitsBlog. Cost me several hours to get rid of the sludge that had built up. Between the two, I eliminated over a million database lines, all of which were spam. Took me most of Thursday night and into Friday morning.  (For those who don’t know, every post, every link, every comment, everything on this blog is run on an SQL database. The HTML that make up what you see, doesn’t exist as such. What you see as HTML is generate when you ask for it, based on what is in the database.) Think of the scope involved here!  That 1 million figure, given I have around 10,000 posts up, in total, means that every post we’ve ever put up had an average of 10 spams attached to them… each. Now that I’ve got that huge pile cleaned out, I’ve started to turn my attention to automated bloggers and linkers who I consider to be spammers as well.  It’s the noise level of blogging, I suppose, but that doesn’t mean I have to support their act with my bandwidth and put up with the sluggish site performance because of their nonsense.  Mostly, I’m finding an IP ban solves a lot of problems. But that amounts to ‘whack a mole’, and I’m not overly happy with the game.
• Why isn’t KCJJ having it’s operating pulled? They should be gone. Remember, I spent a few years in the business. Time was, if I got behind a mike and encouraged illegal activity,the station would be off the air by FCC fiat before the echo died.   I’m telling you, gang… I thought the place one of the best staions in that area of the country. But I’m convinced now they should be gone. Mind this is not political in nature. We’re talking about them clearly encoruaging illegal activity… a clear violation.
• Speaking of radio, I’m reminded by NERW’s Scott Fybush, that Mercury Radio’s ‘War Of The Worlds’ first was broadcast 70 years ago this week. I remember listening to a tape of that show back in the Junior High school library, and being riveted by what I heard.  After one listening, I could easily see the panic such a broadcast would create. And there’s a connection, there, between the effect that broadcast had, and the effect of a slanted news media has, even in today’s supposedly far more cynical world.
• So now we have lawyers who are watching out, supposedly, for our voting rights, who turn out to be Obama donors? Gee, that gives me warm fuzzies that they’ll be unbiased, huh?
• Something weird in Iran. Frankly I don’t accept what they’re telling us about Ahmadinejad. Becoming ill ‘from stress’?  Sorry, I don’t buy it.
• You guys ARE aware there’s a drug war going on in Mexico as we speak, right?
• I spoke earlier today about the attacks on Joe the Plumber. Apparently, info on him was gathered on government computers.  So, perhaps my saying that Obama didn’t have the power of government behind him was a bit off the mark.Why do I get the idea that those tapping those computers are union members?  There’s a teaching moment involved, here.
• Someone’s pulled the plug on the drain. Gas costs are down over 50 cents in around 10 days. I’m seeing prices on FlyingJ… my usual fuel-’em-up spot, at below $2 a gallon in some places.  Oil’s at $63 as of this morning, and likely lower by now. Speculation is we’ll see it in the $40’s shortly. All this is happening a little faster than I said it would, even.
• I was sorry to see news of Anne Pressly’s passing. If she was known as a big Obama backer, the press would be going wall to wall with the story.  I wonder how this will play out.
• Recall this morning, how I mentioned silencing the opposition? Remember I drew compaisons to Crazy Uncle Hugo? Well, it seems he’s still on that path. And who is to stop him, now?
• And speaking of that article, this morning Megan McArdle says :
  

  Wondering if we can’t prosecute the person who exposed the campaign’s error smacks of police state tactics. Yes, I still support Obama, and I have no reason to think that the error was deliberate. But that doesn’t mean that I think the Obama team has a right to have its errors protected from public exposure. . . .   Actually, Megan, as we pointed up here this morning, you have many reasons to think the ‘error’ deliberate. It fits a rather long and less than savory pattern. It’s about time you woke up, and stopped enabling that Marxist. It’s not like the signs haven’t been out there, Lady.

• Yeah, I know… Syria. I don’t know as there’s anyone who has really been watching this thing develop who didn’t figure on Syria being in play directly sooner or later, since it’s more than obvious they’ve been in lay behind the scenes forever. As Bruce points out, this is where most of the AQ morons are coming from now.
• No, Mikey, I’ve said for years that this whole thing is an educational process. Now consider, please… they call terrorist bomber and socialist Bill Ayers an ‘educational reformer’. Do the math.

Joe the Plumber. You remember the story. Obama rolls up to his house one day. Joe plucks up his courage and asks a question of Barack Obama, the subject of which Mr. Obama would apparently rather not discuss. Result?  Joe gets attacked by the press, the unions and the Democrats. In short, they try to pummel Joe into silence. The message: Silence all opposition.

David Freddoso. He writes a book asking the same question Joe the Plumber did, about Obama, and many others with it. He also writes well respected artciles in places like the New York Post asking questions about links to criminals such as Tony Rezko.   What happens when he tries to make an appearance on a Chicago radio station? The station is bombarded with threatening phone calls.   The  same one David Freddoso himself has been getting.  Oh, and of course the ‘fairness doctrine’ gets floated .The obvious message here is that Freddoso must be silenced, or at least discredited. The message: Silence all opposition.

Stanley Kurtz, writes a book raising serious questions about Barack Obama, his historical connections to terrorists, to socialists, and to socialism. On that basis, he raises serious questions about his intentions for the White House. As with David Freddoso and Joe the Plumber, he becomes as with the target of goon squads trying to silence. him.  The message: Silence all opposition.

Jerome Corsi. Another author who asks pointed questions of the same tone as Kurtz and Fedrosso.  He goes to Kenya to investigate reports Obama was born there. He is arrested and deported  by the president of that country… a man with ties to Barack Obama, at least  some of which are legally questionable. The message: Silence all opposition.

WFTV reporter Barbra West… a former adjunct to Peter Jennings, and no conservative, she, in her polite and steady style asks some questions of Joe Biden… Obama’s running mate…the answers to which Mr Biden would apparently rather not discuss. Biden demonstrably lies in direct response. Rather than that, camp Obama turns the tables and tells the station they’re cut off form any further contact with the campaign, and suggests they may be cut off after the election, as well.

 “This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election,” — Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign.

The message: Silence all opposition.

Ya know, it seems like we’ve heard and seen this pattern before.  Say, for example, Hugo Chavez and RCTV, or if you’d like a more historical point of view, Stalin’s use of the Cheka, to eliminate all opposition. There are others; Mao, Castro, Hitler are prominant among them. It’s no longer a matter of words, that David and Michelle and a host of others have correctly pointed up, but the actions as well.

‘But’, I hear you say, ‘Obama doesn’t have the power of government behind him, as these others did!’

That’s true.

So far.

But think for a moment; Obama and his people have already shown their hand. What will they do once they do actually have the power of government behind them? Do you really consider that the silencing of opposition by government is a thing so far out of reach for people who have done what they’re already on record as having done?

In the interview mentioned above, and shown at this blog over the weekend,  Barabra West asked Biden about the obvious similarities between Obama’s stated policies and Marx.  With the obviously Stalinist response to all and any opposition, the question takes on a far more obvious and ominous cast. And the truth of the matter seems obvious.

Since a week ago when I last posted on this topic, Books For Soldiers has been able to raise another $4,000! Thank you for all you’ve done so far, including passing this word along to others!

They still need another $13,500.  The good news is, the organization’s directors, who had given them until October 31 to raise a total of $70,000 ($56,500 raised so far) or face closing, have extended this deadline to November 30!  That’s still only 6 weeks away.

Ya know, I can’t help thinking on Billy Beck as I read Mark Levin this morning:

I’ve been thinking this for a while so I might as well air it here. I honestly never thought we’d see such a thing in our country – not yet anyway – but I sense what’s occurring in this election is a recklessness and abandonment of rationality that has preceded the voluntary surrender of liberty and security in other places. I can’t help but observe that even some conservatives are caught in the moment as their attempts at explaining their support for Barack Obama are unpersuasive and even illogical. And the pull appears to be rather strong. Ken Adelman, Doug Kmiec, and others, reach for the usual platitudes in explaining themselves but are utterly incoherent. Even non-conservatives with significant public policy and real world experiences, such as Colin Powell and Charles Fried, find Obama alluring but can’t explain themselves in an intelligent way.

Think about this phrase of Levin’s…: “abandonment of rationality” in light of another discussion on rational thinking, and the varied definitions of it that we’ve just had recently, and you’ll understand what Levin is missing in the quote above. It may not be rational to him… or to you or I… But to the people he mentions, well, that seems to me a different discussion. And that touches the discussions of rationality I’ve had with Billy over the years, too, including concepts of education on such things. Levin gets that part right. That aside…

The thing Levin is not considering is that in the true sense, these were never conservatives in the first place. They were, and remain, centrists.

Colin Powell

Powell, as an example has had his conservative bona fides questioned since day one, and correctly so.  HIs loyalty to conservative ideals was never the best, even as observed by centrists like George Will, for example. (Which is why the subtle shock in Will’s voice when he declares the bloody obvious… that Powell chose Obama based on race… (Video) is so laughable.

These Centrists, Powell among them, came in on the coat tails of a centrist named Bush and with the end of his kids’ second term, they see the exit signs glaring red in their faces. So, being centrists… IE with no real idealogical foundation, but rather being measured by a finger gauge in the wind, they move on to the next source of power for them. In this case, Obama. True, Obama… and Biden for that matter… come down to their left, but who cares, as long as they manage to have some power for themselves, that little thing about the country surviving really doesn’t much matter, right?

It should be noted that Powell, often the subject of hateful statements on the net vis a vie Iraq, is now suddenly elevated to a favorite son in the eyes of the same people. Suddenly he’s credible in the eyes of the left. (There goes that question of team playing over rational thought again.)

Their support of Obama at this stage is easy enough to explain… What finger-gauge centrist wouldn’t see that experience of Powell’s as a clue on how to maintain their power and influence after a change of party in the White House? Bottom line: Rational for who? The country, or their own position and power, in what remains of it?

I should, perhaps, inject a little rational thought into this discussion, by making the point that this kind of irrationality is the kind of thing we open ourselves up to when we as Republicans fall in behind centrists who don’t really operate within the realm of what we stand for.  Remember, Reagan didn’t win over Democrats by becoming one of them, but rather by the weight of his arguments and actions… and by the national disaster Jimmy Carter wrought… were they forced to the right.

We got where we are by ignoring that lesson, after Reagan, when we elected Bush 41. Remember; Bush was added to Reagan’s ’80 ticket to give some centrist reach to Reagan, not because Bush was a right wing ideologue.

The last 30 years, or so, would seem to raise questions on the rationality of electing a VP to the top slot, simply because he’s held the second VP slot for eight years. Certainly the Democrat learned that lesson in ’68 with Humphrey, and again later on with Gore.

As to where to go, then, based on all of this; There is no doubt in my mind at all that John McCain is the lesser evil in the choice before us, and he has my vote on that basis. But… next time around… what say we offer actual conservatives? If the centrists want to ride along, that’s all well and good, but in no way should they have the leadership of the party again, if this country is to survive as such for long. Think of it this way; If center and left are all we have to choose from, and compromise is always the way of things, which way do you suppose the country is headed?

demanding he prove his American citizenship – and therefore qualification to run for  president – has confirmed he has a recording of a telephone call from the senator’s paternal grandmother confirming his birth in Kenya.

The issue of Obama’s birthplace, which he states is Honolulu in 1961, has been raised enough times that his campaign website has posted an image purporting to be of his “Certification of Live Birth” from Hawaii.

But Philip J. Berg, a former deputy attorney general for Pennsylvania, told the Michael Savage talk radio program tonight that the document is forged and that he has a tape recording he will soon release.

“This has been a real sham he’s pulled off for the last 20 months,” Berg told Savage. “I’ll release it [the tape] in a day or two, affidavits from her talking to a certain person. I heard the tape. She was speaking [to someone] here in the United States.”

He said the telephone call was from Obama’s paternal grandmother affirming she “was in the delivery room in Kenya when he was born Aug. 4, 1961.”

Berg said he’s pursuing the issue because of “the most important document in the United States,” the U.S. Constitution.

“Nothing is more important than enforcing the Constitution,” he said. “The Constitution’s provisions are very small for qualifying for president. One, be over 35, and he is. Two, be in the country 14 years, and he has been. Three, be a natural-born citizen. He is not.”

OK, look, I know there’s been a lot of back and forth on this. But frankly, the question is still an open one. The Snopes arguments against the charge particularly, seem to me to be rather circular in nature, at one point suggesting that we’re to take at face value the rather obvious forgery placed on their website as fact.

Similarly, Fact Check, and their claims that ” FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship.” is the most odious of all, given that FactCheck is run by the Anneberg Foundation, the links of which to Obama have been pretty well established. They’re hardly an unbiased observer.

Sorry. I’d like to see the real one. Until then, this is still an open question.

How woefully unprepared is Barack Obama to be President?   Republican administrations are expected to deal with old rude hags like Helen Thomas, and have.   On the other hand, the Obama campaign can not handle simple questions from a local reporterette, video.

Why did Barack Obama’s campaign cancel a WFTV-Channel 9 interview with Jill Biden, wife of Sen. Joe Biden? The campaign cited “an unprofessional interview” WFTV’s Barbara West did Thursday with Joe Biden. In a statement Friday, Adrianne Marsh, Florida spokeswoman for Obama’s campaign, said the station, in talking with Sen. Biden, was “both combative and woefully uninformed about simple facts.” Marsh said West’s insistence that Obama was an organizer for ACORN was “100 percent false.”

Watch the interview.   West was polite, not combative.  She asked simple direct questions.  The only insults were on the part of Joe Biden.   I seen numberout republican press secretaries go toe to toe with Thomas without the bellyaching coming from the Obama campaign.   If Barack Obama can not stand up to an American reporter, how is he going to stand up to an American enemy.

Yes this is a rehash of what Bit posted,  (Video and all) But if both Barack Obama and Joe Biden can melt down over a question posed by a local reporterette, both me Bit can talk about the subject.

It’s time questions like this get asked.
