This is really a follow-on to an earlier discussion..
In past writings, I have alluded to the existence of an objective truth. Objective right and wrong. Objective good, and evil. I have lamented in those writings the fact that we seem totally unable as individuals as a collective as a country as a culture to identify evil. The very concept seems to have been erased from our collective conscious, and certainly it is being regulated out of existence.
I have also sought, in these writings to avoid overt leanings on my Christian faith, to establish these grounds on the secular and the logical. However, in the doing I have come to notice something with increasing frequency. That being, that the more logical an atheist is or the agnostic is in seeking to identify objective good and evil, right and wrong, the more they tend to parallel what believers already know on an instinctive level.
I notice for example the conflict in agnostics and atheists in their quest to separate church and state their logic brings them to the point of admitting that a believer has had the labels correctly positioned on right and wrong all along. Yet. because those positions echo what the church says, the instinct of the atheist is to dismiss them, and often to use the power of government to prevent us as a people from adopting them.
Rather reminds one of the old tale of all about the cat and the buttered toast. Buttered toast always falls buttersidedown to the ground, and cats always land on their feet. Power. The atheists and agnostics come to the conclusion that the church had it right all along, if you can’t bring themselves to admit that discovery. Round and round it goes. It seems we have discovered another inexhaustible source of power.
I say this not to insult. Indeed I respect the logic involved. It takes some serious logical power to arrive at the position were talking about. Where I have the problem is where simply because the church agrees with their conclusion and always has, they resist that solution. They resist the only logical conclusion to draw. It’s rather like a drowning man refusing a life preserver because it’s the wrong color.
You can call the discovered parallels I shared here, experience, or you can call them I suppose heavenly dictates. Either way, the parallel exists. I believe however that the difference in reaction is because of man’s natural tendency to want to live without anyone or anything ruling over him, including God.
You have to give P.T. Barnum, Jr., b/k/a Donald Trump credit. Barnum, Jr. has a flair for the dramatic. Barnum, Jr. has just thrown an immigration bomb(*) into the national discussion, from Donald J. Trump:
(New York, NY) December 7th, 2015, — Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on. According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing “25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad” and 51% of those polled, “agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah.” Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women.
Mr. Trump stated, “Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life. If I win the election for President, we are going to Make America Great Again.” – Donald J. Trump
As events have shown, in Boston and now San Bernardino, we either are unable or unwilling to vet Muslims, who in turn kill their hosts. For example, the Deportment of Homeland Security had eighteen months to vet Tashfeen Malik yet were apparently unable to discover Malik’s association with violent radicals, The same associations the lame stream media uncovered in matter of days. Barnum is right, our immigration system is broken, or not being used.
Unlike his fellow circus barker, Dim Won, b/k/a Barack Obama, Barnum’s proposal would actually work. Dim Won wants to ban people on the “No-Fly List” from obtaining firearms. Malik was not on the regime’s “No-Fly List.” Dim Won doesn’t want to protect you. He wants to take your guns On the other shoe, Malik couild not have killed anybody in San Bernardino if she was still in Pakistan. Give one to Barnum, Jr.
I stand with Trump in so far as to his opposition to unvetted immigration. Where do you stand?
[*] Unlike the Tsarnaev brother’s bomb in Boston, Barnum, Jr’s bomb is purely figurative. Not that expect the lame streamers to make note of the difference.
This report should put an end to ethanol as a fuel once and for all. Forbes reports that it is of little or no benefits to the environment, and ultimately is useless. Don’t say David and I haven’t been telling you this for years now
It has been said that location is everything. Well not always. President Barack Hussein Obama resorted to giving a speech from the Oval Office, the site for example for President Reagan’s Challenger speech. Sadly Obama, a/k/a Dim Won, is no Gipper. Obama, the insipid, resorted to his teleprompter and gave yet an other uninspiring detached from reality speech. And Eric would say, in other news the Sun also came up this morning.
The former University of Chicago visiting lecturer, who bills self a professor of constitutional law, but who does not hold a law license, is obsessed with destroying the Second Amendment. Obama, a/k/a Dim Won, seems to believe that constitutional rights can be abolished by the whim of the executive, as in his oft reported chant that those of the “No-Fly List” ought not to have guns. When that is debatable opinion. Sadly for Dim Won under the Constitution constitutional rights can abolished by mere execution decree.
Yet, just how much faith does the regime place in her “No-Fly Lists?”, from Washington Free Beacon:
At least 72 employees at the Department of Homeland Security are listed on the U.S. terrorist watch list, according to a Democratic lawmaker.
Rep. Stephen Lynch (D., Mass.) disclosed that a congressional investigation recently found that at least 72 people working at DHS also “were on the terrorist watch list.”
The regime deems that these seventy-two plus individuals are too untrustworthy to be allowed to fly, too untrustworthy to be allowed to own a gun, but somehow can be trusted to defend our nation’s security. On what planet does President Obama reside?
After watching Obama last night, I am led to believe that my initial assessment of him was correct.
The only way anything he has done since the moment he came on the scene makes any sense whatsoever is if its running through the filter in the quote above. Only when we accept that statement and accept that he has been actively working against America and its interests, does any of this make sense.
I suggest it’s time for us to act appropriately with him.
Me, elsewhere today…
Look, even assuming that this was a botched FBI operation, it exposes the fact that the policy of allowing devout Muslims into this country without culturally assuming them, is a drastic mistake. Whatever finally set these two off, it’s clear that they were prepared to do battle against non Muslims eventually. On the basis of this alone, the idea of assuming that all cultures are equal is exposed as garbage. The idea that all people share our values, including life and liberty, is garbage. The idea that we should trust people who actively work against those values in our society is garbage. The idea that we should be disarming our population is garbage. All of this was exposed in San Bernardino and so many other places, that it amazes me that anybody still arguing for these things.
It’s all quite easy I’m sure to point the finger at law enforcement which is charged with the responsibility of enforcing Obama’s policies. But I wonder if it’s occurred to any of the usual suspects that the policies themselves are problematic?
Hillary Clinton, author of the book “It takes a village to satisfy my husband” is finding out that the issue of her double standards when it comes to her erstwhile husband, is not going away anytime soon.
Two weeks ago, Hillary Clinton tweeted that “every survivor of sexual assault deserves to be heard, believed and supported.” Of course we had to assume that she wasn’t referring to the many women who accused her husband Bill of violating them.
At a campaign event in New Hampshire on Thursday, a woman in the audience asked Hillary if believing all “survivors” meant believing Bill’s accusers as well, including Juanita Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey and Paula Jones. Hillary’s response: “I would say that everybody should be believed at first until they are disbelieved based on evidence.”
Of course that the question comes up of itself suggests that they’re not being disbelieved as Hillary Clinton and the remaining Democrats in her camp might have hoped.
The issue that Bill Clinton is a horndog of the first order, is well beyond the discussion stage at this point. That the vast majority of Americans believe those accusing him of sexual assault, is equally beyond the discussion stage at this point. Which, in turn, refreshes our memories of the fact that Hillary Clinton is a liar of the first order, untrustworthy, and certainly not worthy of the Oval Office.
Whom do you believe is the sane one, United States Attorney General, Loretta Lynch:
“My message not just to the Muslim community but to all Americans is ‘We cannot give in to the fear that these backlashes are really based on,'”
Or Pamela Geller, citizen blogger:
What backlashes? Americans have been slaughtered at a Christmas party in the cause of Allah. This is sharia enforcement. This is sedition by the Obama administration. This should not be the response of the wholesale slaughter of American “unbelievers.”
There has been no violent backlash against Muslims, yet. However a regime which prefers to pander to Muslim hypersensitivities rather than protect the lives of American citizens will surely provoke a backlash.
In a conflict between First Amendment rights and the hypersensitivities of a disgruntled population, Lynch as constitutional duty to protect the constitution right of free speech.
The Snark of the Day, unknown FBI agent, CNN:
“I think one thing that’s clear though, is that… none of these things occurring have anything to do with climate change.”
Video:
The confused messages coming out of the White House these days are becoming even more confused as the facts on the ground increasingly don’t fit the scenario the left has been pushing.
San Bernardino’s police chief confirmed that the mass shooting at a county Christmas banquet did not look like a spontaneous attack due to the amount of planning, devices, weapons and tactical gear involved.
Chief Jarrod Barguan told reporters in a late-night press conference the shooting suspects, both killed in a gunbattle with some 20 officers at the end of a pursuit, have been identified as Syed Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27. Farook was a U.S.-born citizen; the chief wasn’t sure of Malik’s background. He said he had no information on whether either had a criminal record.
Barguan said there was a relationship between the two; CBS News reported that the pair had been married for two years. CAIR said earlier that Farook and his wife have a 6-month-old baby.
Farook was an environmental specialist at the county health department. He had attended the Christmas party last year, and this year left the party early “angry” under circumstances that led police to the Redlands residence. The Daily Beast reported that Farook’s mother lived there.
Initial reports indicated there may have been as many as three shooters, but the police chief said officials are “pretty confident” there were two.
Yeah, well there’s a couple of things about that that nobody’s gotten into yet. Did anybody for example notice that this was a Christmas dinner?
Secondly, did anyone notice that California has four years outlawed the firearms that were being used? Apparently, the gun control advocates trying to use this for their own political justification don’t understand or hope that we don’t understand the laws were already on the books to prevent this kind of thing. Apparently, laws don’t work.
Thirdly, did anyone notice that this was yet another gun-free zone?
And of course 4th, and most importantly… does anybody seriously believe that this attack was not inspired by Islam?
I’m seeing a lot of sound and fury in this morning surrounding the idea that the attack in San Bernardino looks an awful lot like ISIS, and pointing out rather derisively and perhaps correctly so that the president has told us that Isis is contained.
To me this shows a total lack of understanding of the independent mind. Obama, for his part considers that centralization of power is the answer to everything, and therefore has no idea how to deal with independant actors.
Moreover, we’ve been spending so much energy and time on the idea wait he was a government employee, and environmental specialist? attacking one extreme Islamist group or another, that many of us including the president still don’t understand or perhaps just don’t want to admit that the problem is Islam itself.
I suggest that unless and until we come to that understanding, this is a problem we’re never going to solve.
Addendum:Eric
Wait, one more thing. He was a government employee, and an environmental specialist? Well maybe Obama has a point when he says that global warming causes terrorism, huh?
And finally, wasn’t it just a few days ago when the president told us that there was no indication of any terrorist plot anywhere in the homeland?
Addendum 2:Eric
Me, elsewhere…
Regardless of any other input to this situation, the problem comes down to Islam. You’ll notice that I didn’t say “the problem comes down to *radical* Islam”, because I have come to the view that *there is no such animal*.
That religion, that culture, that way of life dictates precisely the action that we saw in Paris and in San Bernardino and so many other places. In the end, and frankly who the hell cares what specific set these two off? The only reason we would care about that is if we were interested on walking on eggshells so as not to offend them. The common thread that runs through all of these is basic Islam. So long as our government insist on treating all cultures equally, we will have this problem.
The recent horrid events in San Bernardino, to say the least are confusing. However, Bob Owens has shed some light on to the subject, from Bearing Arms:
A 28-year-old Muslim health inspector named Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, were identified as the sole actors in yesterday’s attack on a Christmas party in San Bernardino, California.
[…]
Despite the obvious “elephant in the room,” authorities have refused state that the attack is Islamic terrorism.
Gee another Muslim, the Religion of Peace, which nothing to do with terrorism, and a recent immigrant from a Muslim country, engaged in yet another act of “work place violence.”
Fish gotta swim and liars have to lie.
I never bought into the media fable that somehow Barrack Hussein Obama, a/k/a Dim Won, was smart. For one Dim Won has gone to great lengths to hide his college manuscripts and there no evidence of Dim Won achieving any academic honors. However it not so much that Obama is not an intellect, but more that he has become a babbling idiot, especially when if goes to his favorite tar baby the weather.
Ben Shapiro published eight idiotic statements made by Dim Won. Now Dim Won has topped, or is bottomed, himself, quote:
“I think that as the science around climate change is more accepted, as people start realizing that even today you can put a price on the damage that climate change is doing — you know, you go down to Miami and when it’s flooding at high tide on a sunny day and fish are swimming through the middle of the streets — you know, that there’s a cost to that.”
Video:
The lame streamers were hell bent on attempting disprove Donald Trump’s claims of seeing Muslims cheering on Nine Eleven. Will the lamers even attempt to find Dim Won’s fish?
Ted Cruz has the lame stream media’s knickers in a twist. Cruz has identified a democrat party interest group to wit convicted felons, video:
ABC Breaking News | Latest News Videos
The same media which claims to adore science. It proclaims the myths of anthropogenic global warming and the rape culture are based on science. Now Cruz cites an academic study and the info babe tried dismiss a study as a mere poll.
This is not to say that Cruz made a slam dunk case. However, the info babe made no arguments that countered Cruz’s assertion.
The Snark of the Day, Barrack Hussein Obama:
“With respect to Planned Parenthood, obviously, my heart goes out to the families of those impacted, […] I mean, I say this every time we’ve got one of these mass shootings; this just doesn’t happen in other countries.”
Hat tip and BSWK: Nice Deb.
So spoke Obama in Paris “Charlie Hebdo” France. Face the facts, Obama is a moron.
The Snark of the Day, Robert Oscar Lopez, American Thinker:
You know you’re desperate when your slogan is “We Will Not Surrender to Six Strips of Black Tape” or “Woodrow Wilson Was a Racist!” When you’re fighting adhesives or people who died ninety years ago, you will quickly learn: to agree to fight such a battle is to lose it by default.
Liberal politics has gone full Seinfeld, the politics of nothing.
