I see no justification in the use of deadly force here. So why did District of Columbia police officers shoot at Miriam Carey. You watch the video and tell me:
Carey evidently had medical issues. However at the time the DC shoot at her, she was a not threat to the public.
Reax, from RT:
When it emerged that the woman shot dead by police on Capitol Hill was a depressed single mother, questions surfaced as to why police fired a stream of bullets at an unarmed driver who had an eighteen month old baby in the back of her car.
New details surrounding the death of Miriam Carey are swiftly changing the story’s turn of events: originally, one in which she was accused of being armed and confronted by police heroics during a government shutdown, into one about over-zealous police gunning down an emotionally-troubled woman in front of her child.
The police posed a greater threat to the public than Carey.
Maybe summary executions are the emerging Obama Care protocol postpartum depression.

The Snark of the Day, from Ace:
The, uh, demographic factors are being referenced. As soon as “Capitol shooting” made the headlines, some people imagined this had to be a story about a right-wing Tea Party gun nut. If that had been the case, this story would have gotten wall-to-wall coverage for weeks. Morning Joe would have been a three-hour telethon for gun control Friday morning. Chris Matthews and Piers Morgan would have been blaming the NRA.
But no, it’s just a crazy woman in a car who got shot by the cops, and the media will decide this is not an important story. Move along
Hat tip: RS McCain.
The political word of the day, from Urban Dictionary:
barrycade
1. A barrier (usually temporary) that exists for no reason.
2. A barrier erected for political reasons.
“Dude, Obama barrycaded the park.”
“Hey, let’s put up some barrycades to keep those World War II veterans away from the open-air World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., in order to try and score some cheap political points.”
Barry barrycades a monument he did not build.
Dirty Harry Reid opens his mouth and inserts his foot, video:
Dirty Harry asks what right the House has to pick and choose what to fund. Well Dirty Harry may not have copy of the Constitution, or maybe he is simply illiterate. I care not which. However Smitty does have copy of the Constitution and does now how to read, from Other McCain:
All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.
So who knew squids could write so well?

The Snark of the Day
Did you hear the one about the democrat congressional candidate who told a rape joke?
Apparently nobody else did either, from the Washington Examiner.
Mr. Waterfield, repeat after me. Sex change is impossible. Genital mutilation is not sex change. If you are born a female, you will die a female. Just a fact, from Bruno Waterfield, Telegraph:
Nathan, born Nancy, Verhelst, 44, was given legal euthanasia, most likely by lethal injection, on the grounds of “unbearable psychological suffering” on Monday afternoon.
Wim Distelmans, a cancer specialist who carried out the euthanasia, is the same doctor who late last year gave lethal injections to congenitally deaf twins who were frightened they were also going blind.
“I was the girl that nobody wanted,” Mr Verhelst told Het Laatste Nieuws newspaper in the hours before her death.
“While my brothers were celebrated, I got a storage room above the garage as a bedroom. ‘If only you had been a boy’, my mother complained. I was tolerated, nothing more.”
Mr Verhelst had hormone therapy in 2009, followed by a mastectomy and surgery to construct a penis in 2012. But “none of these operations worked as desired”.
I suspect that Nancy Verhelst would be alive today if she had been allowed to be the girl that she was, and some demented physician had not attempted to play god and pretended to make her into a boy. God make Nancy a girl and shame on those who think they can alter the work of God.
The charge of the geriatric brigade, from Leo Shane III, Stars and Stripes
WASHINGTON — Wheelchair-bound elderly veterans pushed aside barricades to tour the World War II Memorial Tuesday morning, in defiance of the government shutdown which closed all of the memorials in the nation’s capital.
The four bus loads of veterans — visiting from Mississippi as part of a once-in-a-lifetime Honor Flight tour — ignored National Park Police instructions not to enter the site as lawmakers and tourists cheered them on.
An octogenarian mob. God bless!
In response wot what he would offer to avoid a government shut down King Barack Obama is reported to have uttered:
“When you say what can I offer? I shouldn’t have to offer anything.”
Obama has insisted that the ruled class have to be stuck with Obama Care. Is it too much to ask of King Barack to make his exchanges work?
Greedy politicians have learned how to raid pension funds and savings account to sate their endless lust to spend other people’s money, from Michael Snyder, The Economic Collapse blog,
Now that “bail-ins” have become accepted practice all over the planet, no bank account and no pension fund will ever be 100% safe again. In fact, Cyprus-style wealth confiscation is already starting to happen all around the world. As you will read about below, private pension funds were just raided by the government in Poland, and a “bail-in” is being organized for one of the largest banks in Italy. Unfortunately, this is just the beginning.
The antidote to government that raids private monies held in public institutions is keep your money in private places, like mattresses and mason jars. Anybody brighter than Andrew Cuomo economic prosperity is impossible without public trust in both the government and financial institutions. No trust means no investment which leads to no generation of wealth. A Cyprus style bail-in is a stop towards third world poverty. Without investor deposits, there would be no banking system.
How apt, the fake republican, John McCain, hires the fake doctor, Elizabeth O’Bagy, via Byran Preston, PJ Media:
Sen. John McCain has hired Elizabeth O’Bagy, the Syria analyst in Washington who was fired for padding her credentials, The Cable has learned. She begins work Monday as a legislative assistant in McCain’s office.
They deserve each other.

President “Present” is losing his battle to sell the public the idea of buying into Obama Care. So when the home team is losing, reach across the ocean to manufacture a phoney outrage, from the Bureau of Concocted Outrage, from Jezebel:
Guido Barilla, the chairman of the world’s largest pasta company, made some crazy, ignorant, and idiotic statements about gay people in a recent radio appearance. Great, now we have to worry about our pasta being actively anti-homosexual because nothing can be easy and the whole world is going to hell in a hand basket woven from Barilla spaghetti.
Her alleged evidence, source:
The chairman of pasta company Barilla went on a Radio24 program to explain the company’s apparent position against depicting gay couples or families in its advertisements. “I would never do (a commercial) with a homosexual family, not for lack of respect but because we don’t agree with them. Ours is a classic family where the woman plays a fundamental role,” Guido Barilla said. The executive also told the program’s hosts that “if the gays do not agree, they can always eat pasta from another manufacturer,” which prompted a swift boycott from advocacy group Equality Italia
The cited quote does indeed show Guido Barilla to be politically incorrect, sobeit. However Jezebel characterized Barilla’s remarks as “crazy, ignorant, and idiotic.” Simply stated, Barilla said that his company policy was not to feature same-sex couples in the company’s advertising. Jezebel is not disputing the accuracy of the remark. Rather Barilla appears to accurately state the policy of the largest selling brand of pasta in the world. It would be more apt to describe Barilla’s policy of one that works quite well.
And you thought liberals were pro-choice. Speaking of choice, Stacy has apparently made his:
OK, tomorrow we must all go to Food Lion and buy Barilla pasta. Every single box they have in the store.
Moreover, Stacy is not merely content to buy Barilla. He is selling it.
The ‘rate have a new talking point, to oppose Obama Care is to engage in terrorism. As if the Tea Party was going to hire thousands of IRS to enforce their will. Meanwhile ever faithful Algore sings a different song, but the tune is the same, Ace:
Now They Tell Us: New York Times Editorial Announces It Was A Mistake to Take the Mann Hockey Stick “Seriously”
You may wonder why such a statement would be made in the New York Times.
Well, not because they’re giving up on the Cult of Angry Gaia. No. What’s happened is that given the 15 year long hiatus in temperature change, certain proofs that the Science Is Settled You Guys have to be tossed out in order to save the rest of it.
In the editorial, the author argues that the Hockey Stick was always silly and therefore we shouldn’t be misled by reliance upon it.
Consider the source, from Abby D. Phillips, ABC News:
Al Gore Accuses GOP of ‘Political Terrorism’ With Shutdown Threat
Algore is just mad because he been caught tossing dummy environmental wacko hand grenades for what fifteen yeras.

The Snark of the Day, from James Taranto, Wall Street Journal:
Bloomberg stipulates that an ObamaCare policy will, at least for the young, be expensive (they are “least capable of affording it”) and offer minimal benefit (they are “least likely to use it”). You can’t “see the value” of such a proposition, because it’s a bad deal.
