With all due respect, does anyone care who John McCain endorses?

William A. Jacobson, Legal Insurrection

As you may deduce from my quote editing, I only deem the Professor half right, this time.     Frankly  for  the record, this is the only McCain in the arena, of which I give a damn.

From Sharyl Attkisson, CBS News:

Documents obtained by CBS News show that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) discussed using their covert operation “Fast and Furious” to argue for controversial new rules about gun sales.

[…]

ATF officials didn’t intend to publicly disclose their own role in letting Mexican cartels obtain the weapons, but emails show they discussed using the sales, including sales encouraged by ATF, to justify a new gun regulation called “Demand Letter 3?. That would require some U.S. gun shops to report the sale of multiple rifles or “long guns.” Demand Letter 3 was so named because it would be the third ATF program demanding gun dealers report tracing information. On July 14, 2010 after ATF headquarters in Washington D.C. received an update on Fast and Furious, ATF Field Ops Assistant Director Mark Chait emailed Bill Newell, ATF’s Phoenix Special Agent in Charge of Fast and Furious:
“Bill – can you see if these guns were all purchased from the same (licensed gun dealer) and at one time. We are looking at anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long gun multiple sales. Thanks.”

On Jan. 4, 2011, as ATF prepared a press conference to announce arrests in Fast and Furious, Newell saw it as “(A)nother time to address Multiple Sale on Long Guns issue.” And a day after the press conference, Chait emailed Newell: “Bill-well done yesterday… (I)n light of our request for Demand letter 3, this case could be a strong supporting factor if we can determine how many multiple sales of long guns occurred during the course of this case.”

Reax, Bob Owens:

The Department of Justice used Operation Fast and Furious to manufacture gun crimes, and then used those crimes to argue for more gun restrictions. If this sounds eerily like the cliche of a mob protection racket to you, you’re right on the money. This is racketeering, and those DOJ officials responsible needs to face a criminal trial under RICO statues.

Time for Eric Holder to do the perp walk.

Frédéric Bastiat in his 1850 essay Ce qu’on voit et ce qu’on ne voit pas:

Have you ever witnessed the anger of the good shopkeeper, James Goodfellow, when his careless son happened to break a pane of glass? If you have been present at such a scene, you will most assuredly bear witness to the fact that every one of the spectators, were there even thirty of them, by common consent apparently, offered the unfortunate owner this invariable consolation—”It is an ill wind that blows nobody good. Everybody must live, and what would become of the glaziers if panes of glass were never broken?”

Now, this form of condolence contains an entire theory, which it will be well to show up in this simple case, seeing that it is precisely the same as that which, unhappily, regulates the greater part of our economical institutions.

Suppose it cost six francs to repair the damage, and you say that the accident brings six francs to the glazier’s trade—that it encourages that trade to the amount of six francs—I grant it; I have not a word to say against it; you reason justly. The glazier comes, performs his task, receives his six francs, rubs his hands, and, in his heart, blesses the careless child. All this is that which is seen.

But if, on the other hand, you come to the conclusion, as is too often the case, that it is a good thing to break windows, that it causes money to circulate, and that the encouragement of industry in general will be the result of it, you will oblige me to call out, “Stop there! Your theory is confined to that which is seen; it takes no account of that which is not seen.”

It is not seen that as our shopkeeper has spent six francs upon one thing, he cannot spend them upon another. It is not seen that if he had not had a window to replace, he would, perhaps, have replaced his old shoes, or added another book to his library. In short, he would have employed his six francs in some way, which this accident has prevented

Dim Won, a/k/a Dumbo b/k/a Barack Obama, from RCP:

“Layoffs too often became permanent, not part of the business cycle. And these changes didn’t just affect blue collar workers. If you were a bank teller or a phone operator or a travel agent, you saw many in your profession replaced by ATMs and the internet,” President Obama said at a campaign event in Kansas.

Dim Won speaks in Kansas, but thinks he is in Texas and uses economic theory discredited over a century and half ago.   They do teach economics at Harvard.    Not that Dim Won ever spent a sober day in a college class room.

Ice cutting used to be big business.  That is until some joker invented the refrigerator.   Does anybody propose to trade their frig in for an old fashioned ice box?    Will Dim Won forgo air conditioning in the White House?

Now suppose, just suppose, I claimed to have had a long affair with Chelsea Clinton. Perish the thought. However, on the basis of the claim would Tina Brown consider me fit to offer my opinion on Clinton’s baggage, as a television reporterette:

Now  put the shoe on the other foot Neo-Neocon asks:

But this Daily Beast interview with Ginger White seduced me (as it were) into reading more, and then writing more. It’s a cautionary tale of—well, of something, or perhaps many things, although I’m not entirely sure what they all are.

Mostly it’s the fact that a person can spout off to the press these days (the Daily Beast is operated by Tina Brown and owned by Newsweek) and say virtually anything without proof, and it will all be printed as long as it’s about a person the MSM wishes to eliminate. One would think that Cain had been destroyed enough already, but apparently the Beast desires to humiliate him still further by publishing White’s criticism of his wife’s self-denial, White’s speculation that he had many mistresses besides her, and, in perhaps the unkindest cut of all, White’s lack of sexual interest in Cain (she alleges she thought about grocery lists during sex).

According to Tina Brown et al Heman Cain having an affair with an admitted slut, to wit Ginger White,  disqualifies Cain from the presidency,   If  that is the case, then how does the act of being a slut render White a legitimate critic of  presidential candidates>   If sleeping with a slut renders a person unfit to be president, it also renders the slut unfit to present themselves as a  judge of presidential candidates.

With Brown, you don’t expect much, and Brown does not deliver much.

What me worry! fFrom Joel Stegel, ABC News:

Critics of President Obama felt little holiday cheer after the president did not thank God in his Thanksgiving-themed weekly Internet address. They immediately took to Twitter and the Internet to voice anger and disbelief.

“Holy cow! Is that one screwed up or what?” columnist Sherman Frederick of the Las Vegas Review-Journal wrote in a Thanksgiving-morning blog post.

That was then and this now, from Terence P. Jeffrey:

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama said in a speech delivered Thursday evening that Americans should ponder the words of Jesus Christ this Christmas season and make their actions conform to them.

“So long as the gifts and the parties are happening, it’s important for us to keep in mind the central message of this season, and keep Christ’s words not only in our thoughts, but also in our deeds.”

Reax from Ed Driscoll, PJ Media:

“When former social secretaries gave a luncheon to welcome Ms. Rogers earlier this year, one participant said, she surprised them by suggesting the Obamas were planning a ‘non-religious Christmas’ — hardly a surprising idea for an administration making a special effort to reach out to other faiths.”

– The New York Times’ profile of Desirée Rogers, the former Obama White House social secretary, December 4th, 2009.

Barack Hussien Obama seems to have no particular use for Jesus, except as a political prop to win elections.    If Dumbo, b/k/a Obama, wants to be an atheist, or whatever, that purely his own affair.   However Dumbo should not feign  Christianity or crass political purposes.

Phyllis Schlafly has endorsed Michele Bachman, from Des Moines Register:

Social conservative Phyllis Schlafly has endorsed Michele Bachmann for president and is urging Iowans to caucus for her, Bachmann’s campaign told The Des Moines Register tonight.

In a written statement, Schlafly says: “Most important, Michele has the courage to be a leader among her peers. She is a real champion in speaking up for values we care about. Michele is a woman of faith and the mother of a beautiful family. She has a 100 percent pro-life record and is a strong supporter of traditional marriage.”

Mrs. Schlafly is not merely a conservative activist.   She was the most influential American woman of the previous century.

Clarice Feldman quits her day job to write a new adult drama, from American Thinker:

The story’s about Buffy, a tanning studio worker who loses her position as a result of the administration tax on tanning operations. She’s kind of a klutz so the only other jobs she can find when the soap opera begins — working in an exercise studio or waitressing are out of the question. In the first episode she trips on the Pilates equipment and some barbells fall and knock her out . Understandably, the owner is afraid of his increased insurance tab should he hire her to work there, and she doesn’t get the position. At the restaurant, she fares no better. On her first probationary day, she trips again and spills platters of pasta primavera all over a table of thirty something lawyers all dressed in their best navy pinstripes. You can imagine he owner’s cleaning bill! And then , too, they were muttering about collateral damages, about how this would cause them to lose a million dollar account or something.

Stay tuned for the next exciting episode.

From Daily Mail (UK):

Repealing a ban on women drivers in Saudi Arabia would result in ‘no more virgins’, the country’s religious council has warned.
A ‘scientific’ report claims relaxing the ban would also see more Saudis – both men and women – turn to homosexuality and pornography.
The startling conclusions were drawn by Muslim scholars at the Majlis al-Ifta’ al-A’ala, Saudi Arabia’s highest religious council, working in conjunction with Kamal Subhi, a former professor at the King Fahd University.

The Dangers of Saudi Women Driving a Car

Do Saudi men really believe that if they give their females the right to drive that they will rush out their doors to have sex immediately, or worse yet, jump into a homosexual relationship? This is beyond ludicrous! Why don’t they just admit that they enjoy having their women locked up in their homes at their every beck and call and with no freedoms whatsoever?

Where are the gals from NOW in this bizarre controversy? Asleep at the wheel once again.

The Nags are out buying bicycles for third grade school girls.

New Gun Company Advertisement Compares Obama to Hitler, Stalin

The fact that gun control leads to government tyranny and mass genocide is well known by free citizens, yet strangely denied by liberal sheep.

You would think that comparing the Dim Won, b/k/a Barrack Obama to Adolph Hitler would inspire liberal wrath.   Apparently not.

Who says I never cite Morning Joe, video:

Reax, Karen the Lonely Conservative:

Tina Brown: Obama Doesn’t Like His Job, Doesn’t Know How to Exercise Power

Ace of Spades calls this the one Morning Joe transcript worth a few minutes of your time. Head over there for the pertinent parts. Or kick back and and enjoy the video below of liberal Tina Brown explaining how the “professorial” President Obama doesn’t like his job and has no clue how to exercise power. NewsBusters points out she’s not the first liberal to take notice.

I submit that the entire Morning Joe premise is wrong.  The MJ gang assumes the narrative was true, that Dumbo, b/k/a Barack Obama had some unique transcending talent, and for some reason, failed to utilize his talent a president.      My premise is much simpler,   I assert that Dumbo is,  snd has always been, a moron, and lazy to boot.   Prove me wrong.

For once Brown is not totally out to lunch. It not that Dumbo does not like his present job, to Wit President of the United States. Dumbo does not like any job.  There are two requirements for success. One is innate ability and the second is hard work. Obama has never demonstrated that he has any particular innate ability, nor any desire to work.

Dumbo has never applied himself to any of his various day jobs. He was a the editor of the Harvard Law Review, who never wrote any articles. A lawyer do did not try cases. a writer, with writer’s block, A state Senator who voted present, and a president noted for taking vacations and playing golf.

Them that can, go into business.  Those that can not settle for becoming politicians.    The nanny staters of San Francisco got out smarted by the suits from McDonalds from Karen, the Lonely Conservative:

The nannies in San Francisco thought it would be a good idea to ban toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals to force kids to eat healthier. Not only did the plan backfire, the kids whose parents used to just fork over a couple of bucks for the toy, and skipped the meal, now have to buy the meal to get the toy. SF Weekly explains:

When it comes to food, I am pro-choice.   If you don’t like the food at McDonalds,  don’t eat there.

Brian Tashman, Right Wing Watch:

On Monday, Massachusetts congressman Barney Frank announced that he will not seek reelection next year, and American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer decided to celebrate Frank’s retirement by attacking the congressman for being gay. On Focal Point yesterday, Fischer claimed that Frank may have used his prominent position to “influence” other men into becoming gay who may have later contracted AIDS. “This is a dangerous, risky, immoral, unhealthy lifestyle, and Barney Frank has been an open practitioner of a lifestyle that is condemning one young man after another to an early grave,” Fischer said, “this is not somebody to admire, this is not somebody to honor.” Fischer went on to say that Frank “modeled a lifestyle which is really a death-style,” wondering, “Who knows how many people were drawn or encouraged in some way by Barney Frank’s example to dabble in a lifestyle that eventually cost them their health and maybe even cost them their lives.”

I think Tashman has it backasswards. If Barney Frank’s lifestyle is at all malleable, Frank’s long over due retirement will only help to promote the cause of homosexual sodomy. Frank is a angry, demented old man. There is absolutely nothing about Frank which would suggest to anybody that they ought to adopt his chosen lifestyle. The less the public sees of mad and bitter homosexuals, like Frank, the easier it will to to sell the fiction that the homosexual lifestyle should  somehow  be considered to be normal.

Eric Florack on November 29th, 2011

Buffalo, NY– I’m at the Erie County Medical Center, dropping off some furniture that I picked up at Elkhart IN. A nice little stretch of the legs. I’ll be back at the yard in a few hours and ready for my next adventure. This trip out west is likely a rare event, but I must say I woldn’t mind it happening more often. I’ve been getting a bit tired of New York City. That said I’ll doubtless end up there in the next day or two.

  • Leadership? Which way? I’m convinced, in talking and reading, that there is enough momentum in the rank and file of the GOP… and, after Obama,  many rank and file Democrats, for that matter, to put a real conservative in the White House and in most seats in both houses of Congress. That said,  I’ve also become convinced that the GOP leadership, which has been tilting increasingly to the left for generations now, is our sole roadblock to getting a real conservative in the White House. With the current GOP circles, the party of Reagan has become indistinguishable from the party of Obama. That’s the thing about compromise…. you meet the other fellows demands half way each time. If we meet the Democrats half way every time.. as we’ve been doing mostly since FDR, we end up going to where the Democrats want us, only more slowly. I fail to see a slow death as an advantage. The GOP leadership isn’t listening, still. I feat it may already be too late to save ourselves… which we won’t if we don’t get real conservatives in positions of power. And now.
  • Names?  I don’t know if it’s precisely true or not, but based on what I”ve seen, there must be a “Mud Creek” in every county in the country. Not very imaginative, though in most cases, descriptive.
  • Names and Christmas: We’re getting to that season, again. Christmas. It’s officially, a national holiday. Seems to me though that such a holiday simply will not pass constitutional muster today… particularly as the left reads the constitution…. particularly as regards separation of church and state… which really doesn’t exist in the constitution itself.  But think; Christmas being a national holiday is one of the best examples of how the leftist reading of the constitution is at opposition to what the actual authors of that constitution meant when they wrote it.  It’s interesting…. striking… that while the left and the supposed center will complain loud and long about how far to the right, the GOP has pushed our government and our society… a flat out nutty notion, if the facts be known… they tend to ignore how far to the left they’ve pushed us as a country and as a culture. Christmas is but one aspect of this, but a rather glaring one.  It seems to me that if we’re going to take the seperation thing as seriously as the left wants us to, what they’re really talking about is the removal of religion… of God… from American society.  I wonder; is removing the word “Saint” from all our cities and towns? What, after all, is a “saint” when leftist government gets ahold of it? Other than Obama and Teddy Kennedy, of course.  Are we to remove all religious names from hospitals?  Saint Mary’s here in Rochester. Divine Providence in Williamsport, PA,  Saint Luke’s in KC, and so on.  Look, let’s be honest… the reason this stuff is being pursued is not on constitutional ground at all, but rather because it pisses off small segments of our society who want to change our society… to get America to stop being American. To move away from the culture that made us the great nation we were.   What’s next? Telling the cities of “Columbus” (plural) to change their name because some people don’t like famous film makers? (Oh, yeah, the Italian Captain, too.. I keep forgetting)
  • Names and The Obama Legacy:  There’s a fair amount of blindness demonstrated on the part of the Black voter, daily.  One might even call it racism. Obama has been a bloody disaster by any objective measure, even in terms of advancing the fate of blacks in our cosiety….,and yet he still maintains a fair lead among black voters. A self-destructive thing, perhaps?  This suggests an interesting fate for him in the near future…It strikes me that just about every city in the country has a “Martin Luther King Blvd”. Almost without exception this runs through the worst section of each city.  Ironic, since most people who insisted on honoring his name, had so little in the way of clues about what MLK actually stood for. King, for all his efforts never really overcame poverty in those areas, because the biggest task…. changing the minds of his black followers… he was largely unsuccessful at. Sad, really. The moment he was killed…. people like Jesse Jackson stepped in and reversed what work King had been successful at, there.  I submit that many people will further insult the memory of MLK by insisting that streets in these same areas should be named after Barack Obama.  This seems to me more accurate, than the nods to MLK since it is the Obama philosophy…. which is really Marx in Black face… and which is the philosophy MLK spent his life fighting against…. and which have created the conditions under which people on those streets live.  Personally, I’ve taken to calling such neighborhoods “Obamavilles”.  That said, Poverty isn’t what it used to be, as Bruce points out this morning. Kinda gives a different read on the cries of ‘black poverty’, hmmm?
