How to Get Homosexual Books Out of Your Child’s School Library

On both sides of the pond, concerned parents complain about books targeting school children which promote willful homosexual behavior, as if it were  normal.   The parents complain and  the school boards ignore. 

Now good news, Mike Pechar, Jawa Report, has found a way for concerned parents to get the filth of their children’s school libraries:

(Bristol, England) Two books (image) targeting 5-year-old children with the homosexual agenda have been removed from schools after Muslim parents complained.

This is the same country that has Christians, Jews, Hindus and others regularly complaining about school curricula while achieving slower and less-satisfying results

Concerned parents need to claim to be Muslim.   Heck, if it works, it works.

Addendum:(Bit) It’s always amazing, what happens when liberal goals, which generally are not based in anything which passes for logic to begin with, start butting heads with each other.  The result, of course, is illogic compounded. The sparks that fly are usually enlightening, and are always at least entertaining.

That way for example lies the battle between gender feminism, and racial identity, as provided by Obama and Clinton. That way lies, as another example, the battle between the greenies, waging war for things like Wind power, and the old line liberals like Ted Kennedy, moving against a wind farm in his family playground.

And so on. This business David cites is merely one more such example.

What we should be frightened of is that when this kind of ideological battle happens, almost invariably what falls out is the answer that is more damaging to Western culture. As in this case.

Billy notes the story of Hillary Clinton and the Nixon impeachment. This one’s been brewing for quite a while, as Billy notes correctly… and Ed Morrissey confirms in the process of quoting Dan Calabrese:

As Hillary Clinton came under increasing scrutiny for her story about facing sniper fire in Bosnia, one question that arose was whether she has engaged in a pattern of lying.  The now-retired general counsel and chief of staff of the House Judiciary Committee, who supervised Hillary when she worked on the Watergate investigation, says Hillary’s history of lies and unethical behavior goes back farther – and goes much deeper – than anyone realizes.

Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy’s chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman’s 17-year career.

Why?

“Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.”

Billy, for his part, points out, correctly:

David Brock reported the four-corners of this story in his 1996 book, “The Seduction of Hillary Rodham”, replete with cites from Zeifman.

I completely understand that Brock is long personna non grata on the right, but the fact remains that his book is still the premier document expounding who and what she really is.

Well, frankly, Billy, I don’t think Brock scratched the surface on that one. One of the reasons Brock is in such hot water with the right these days… even his writings prior to his ‘Paul on the Damascus road’ moment… (IE; when he got bought off) …is, people will forever wonder what it is he was holding back… that we never really got the full depth of what he discovered in his investigations.  Like, for example, the depth of sleaze surrounding Hillary Clinton.

And what none of you cover at all.. and what should frighten you more… … it certainly does, me…  is the number of people who figure Hillary Clinton did correctly in terms of Nixon, and who will take these charges against her, not as a problem, but as a badge of honor.

I’ve pointed out many times in the last month or so, the number of people who lined up behind Jeremiah Wright, because of, not in spite of, his overt racism.  Why? Because of his skin color. I pointed to links to Obama, OJ Simpson, Rodney King,  William Jefferson, and so on… all of their positions bolstered in the minds of the mindless because those mindless happen to be of the same grouping… in this case, the same racial identity.

Same thing with Hillary Clinton, only this time the grouping isn’t racial in it’s makeup, but rather, is made up simply of people of the far left. They’ll defend her tooth and nail on that basis, for being on ‘their team’… though they’ll never overtly call it such.
What makes all this so interesting, now, though is watching what will happen when these two sub-groups… the racial grouping and the liberal grouping, go head to head against each other. I say this because in the end, it’s that fight that brings this little tidbit from the 70’s up , just now. Without that fight, this Zeifman thing would never have seen the light of day. I take this as an indication of just how serious the war in the Democrat party is, just now. It doesn’t helpthe simplicity of the judgement that of the two, Clinton is the more centrist… which of itself should be a warning sign about Obama.

John Venlet notes that the FBI is reportedly conducting investigations into 1300 mortgage fraud investigations, more or less. Says John:

While the FBI may find a few prosecutable mortgage lending fraud cases, what will mostly be brought to light by their investigations will be the foolishness of the underwriting guidelines utilized by the subprime lending industry, and the unethical, but not illegal, methods which were utilized to suck subprime borrowers in.

I’m not so sure, John, that you’re placing the blame in the right spot. I think what we have here is the law of unintended consequences, where government is concerned, poking it’s head up again.

Look; Let’s remember, that this whole thing started when the legislation was created with one major goal in mind… evening the percentages of lower income people who were able to own homes. This attempt was the direct result of the race hustlers complaining about ‘equal rights’.  What we’re seeing, here, and what nobody… and I mean nobody, is willing to admit to, is the idea that there may have been reasons other then racial discrimination, or discrimination based on all the other usual hot buttons, at the root of why these people weren’t getting loans…. like for example, the bak got the idea somehow that the people that didn’t get loans, didn’t, because they couldn’t pay for the loans.

What I’m suggesting is that the banks, statistically,  were correct, and had the situation in hand until the government came along. The proof if the point is this subprime meltdown itself, which in turn is the direct result of government meddling.

Is not lending based on race, or whatever, right? Of course not. But maybe racism wasn’t the issue, after all?

Well, don’t hold your breath, waiting for anybody to say this publicly; They don’t want to be the focus of  the race hustlers.

• Turns out that the upgrade I’m planning for this weekend, itself needed a few upgrades as a prerequisite. For example, I use an automatic upgrade package, which needed updating. All that’s been done. I must say, WordPress is getting easier to run, anymore, despite it all. Now i we could get some utils to touch up the database…
• I see William “Cold Cash” Jefferson won one in his fight to stay out of jail… though he didn’t win much…James over at OTB wonders just a bit at the slow pace of this case. I tell him:
  

  You didn’t really think this was going to be allowed at front and center during an election cycle, now, did you?And I can’t help but think that his re-election and the ardent defense being put up down there is part and parcel of what we have been seeing with Obama/Wright/liberation theology, et al.

  There’s no doubt in my mind that Jefferson, were he white, would be smelling up a jail cell somewhere. You tell ME; How many white folks would not only get to stay in office but get re-elected, after being caught with a half million dollars of bribe money in the freezer, and then tell me this isn’t yet another case of racial identity trumping fact. Similarly, there’s not a shred of doubt in my mind that Obama, were he white, would not have even made it to the status of ‘also ran’ in this election. Tell me how many White folks with an equal lack of a record of accomplishment to Obama’s…. particularly those with 20-year ties a screeching racist, as Obama has,…. would be a half step away from a presidential nomination. In both cases, Jefferson and Obamathey are where they are not because of the facts of their respective cases, but because of their racial identity, and folks supporting them for this alone. I think most people are above this kind of ‘us’ vs ‘them’ racial mentality, and thank God for them…… but there’s enough of ’em out that that are not above it, to make my statements alarmingly true.  OJ ring any bells, Gang? Same thing, different scenario. Rodney King? Same thing. And all of it is reflected rather clearly ini the attitude projected in the work of Cone, and Wright.

• Bruce, it’s like I said last night; It”s a mark of the degree of desperation the Democrats are feeling just now, when they say that Al Gore is the better of the three situations. And here’s the thing; His poking his head out of oblivion just now to announce $300MUSD of someone’s money going to support his global warming nonsense….. think that wasn’t timed? I’m telling you; It was set up to mesh with whatever developed in terms of a presidential run. No, I don’t think he’ll make it even with that boost. Still, I wouldn’t put his trying past him… nor would I put it past the Democrats who are watching this trainwreck of theirs unfold. At the moment, they’re looking for anything that’ll float. And what better floatation device then a hunk of wood?
• I see where Hillary Clinton is having a little difficulty paying her health insurance bills. I mean, this stuff is just rich….

  • Then there’s the story about Chelsea jogging around the World Trade Center when the Islamic terrorists attacked on 9/11. Wasn’t true. Chelsea was nowhere near the trade center. Where did Hillary get this story? Did her daughter make a mistake and tell her that she was out jogging? Hardly. There was no basis at all for this lie. None. This was Hillary trying to make herself a part of this tragic story .. telling a bold lie in order to bring to herself just some of the sympathy felt for those who suffered actually losses in this attack by Muslim goons.
  • How about Monica Lewinsky? Do you really think that the whole story was just made up by some “vast right wing conspiracy” to discredit her husband? Come on now. How many so-called “bimbo eruptions” had Hillary handled before Monica came huffing along? She knew what a whore-dog her husband was, yet she sat there and prattled on about a right-wing conspiracy. Just another lie.
  • Then we have the Sir Edmund Hillary thing. Yeah .. her mother named her after the first person to climb Mt. Everest. Problem is, nobody had heard of Sir Edmund Hillary when Hillary Rodham was born. A lie.
  • Remember Bill Clinton pardoning those Puerto Rican FALN terrorists as he left office? Hillary was running for the Senate in New York at the time, and the Puerto Rican community was demanding these terrorists be pardoned. Hillary – the woman so involved with everything Bill did in the White House – says she didn’t know about the pardons. Right.
  • Oh yeah … Hillary wanted to be an astronaut. Remember this one? She wrote NASA to find out how to apply, and she says they wrote back saying that they “don’t take girls.” Sally Ride was about three years younger than Hillary when she became the first U.S. woman in space. Do you believe that NASA actually sent that letter to Hillary.
  • Then there’s this biggie. The Rose Law Firm billing records. This wasn’t an inconsequential lie designed to enhance her image. It was a lie to cover her rear end. Investigators wanted her billing records from the Rose Law Firm to see if she had done any work on a tax scam known as Casa Grande. She claimed – under oath – that she didn’t have those billing records, that she didn’t know where they were, and that she frankly doubted that they existed at all. Well .. it turns out they did indeed exist. They were found in her private quarters in the White House two years after she swore under oath that she didn’t have them. Not only were they found, but they had her handwriting and fingerprints on them. This particular lie was a crime. She was never prosecuted.
  • Moving right along to the soccer lie. The story here was supposed to be that Hillary was on a junior high school soccer team and had a confrontation with the goal tender from an opposing team. If I remember the story correctly, the opposing goalie told Hillary that she didn’t like white people. Oh yeah .. like high school soccer goalies just spontaneously blurt out their hatred for white people during a soccer game. The problem here was that the school Hillary was attending didn’t have a soccer team. Another lie.
  • Hillary says she didn’t give the order to fire the White House travel office staff. Staffers remember the exact words she used: “Fire their asses.” She then had their asses and all their belongings unceremoniously dumped on the Ellipse behind the White House.

  Do you begin to understand who we’re dealing with, here?

• Of course Obama’s been caught in a lie or three of late, also. Ken Vogel over at  The Politico notes one of the biggies. Look, let’s face it, both the Democrats have disqualified themseves from the White House. Not that such is going to stop idiots from giving them the reinds of power…
• An honorable mention in the OTB Caption Contest. I’ve already come up with several zingers for the one coming up on Thursday. I dunno…Sometimes I just catch a wave with it….

[Mario] Cuomo said he’s surprised by the cold shoulder he’s received so far from the candidates, especially from Obama, since he has agreed to meet Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad without preconditions. If the Democrats are willing to negotiate with foreign leaders, Cuomo asked, why not each other?

Funny, Barack Obama has sworn to negotiate, without precondition with our nation’s enemies, but he will not negotiate with his fellow democrat and fellow member of the Senate Mrs. Clinton.  Why does BO think Mrs. Clinton is less trustworthy than say Hugo Chavez?

It is our opinion that the Clintons, both B.J. and Mrs., are chronic, habitual liars.   The pattern of Mrs. Clinton inability to tell the Truth can be traced at least as far as 1974.  Steve Gilbert, Sweetness &  Light,  has unearthed a nine year old article on Mrs. Clinton by Fred Zimmerman:

IN December 1974, as general counsel and chief of staff of the House Judiciary Committee, I made a personal evaluation of Hillary Rodham (now Mrs. Clinton), a member of the staff we had gathered for our impeachment inquiry on President Richard Nixon. I decided that I could not recommend her for any future position of public or private trust.

John Lott online at Fox this morning, puts a slightly different angle on things than the Democrats want spread round:

A little perspective on the economy would be helpful. The average unemployment rate during President Clinton was 5.2 percent. The average under President George W. Bush is just slightly below 5.2. The current unemployment rate is4.8 percent, almost half a percentage point lower than these averages.

The average inflation rate under Clinton was 2.6 percent, under Bush it is 2.7 percent. Indeed, one has to go back to the Kennedy administration to find a lower average rate. True the inflation rate over the last year has gone up to 4 percent, but that is still lower than the average inflation rate under all the presidents from Nixon through Bush’s father.

Gas prices are indeed up 33 percent over the last year, but to get an average of 4 percent means that lots of other prices must have stayed the same or gone down. On other fronts, seasonally adjusted civilian employment is 650,000 people greater than it was a year ago. Personal income grew at a strong half of one percent in just February.

Despite all that, this last week, Barack Obama proclaimed “As most experts know, our economy is in a recession.” Hillary Clinton made similar staements last fall. Yet, as any economist knows, a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative growth, and we haven’t even had one single quarter of negative growth reported.

Correct. It’s always amazed me how the perception of Democrats, as to the condition of our economy, changes in relationship to where we are in the election cycle, and who is currently in power.

Now, you want a resession? Try Jimmy Carter. Whcih, come to think on it, in a policy perspective, means either one of the two Democrat candidates.

Chelsea Clinton continues her family tradition of campaigning without honor.   Miss Clinton refuses to answer legitimate questions about the character of the candidate for whom  she is endorsing and campaigning.   Allah Pundit, Hot Air, post the video. here  This is not acceptable.  If Miss Clinton is unwilling to discuss the character or Mrs. Clinton, Miss Clinton should withdraw her endorsement and resign from the Mrs. Clinton’s campaign.  

Miss Clinton, questions as to your mother character, or lack thereof same. are not going a away.  Learn to deal with them, or exit the arena.   I don’t care which.

• I wasn’t exactly goig through withdrawal symptoms over the weekend, while the site servers got moved physically… but damned near that. At least a dozen times I saw something that screamed out to be written up for the blog, and opened an editor only to remember that the blog wasn’t up, and I couldn’t post it anyway.Aside from the idea that they didn’t just build another plant then cut to it, (I know, expensive) the only complaint I have is they changed the database location for the backend of this site without bothering to tell anyone. My first indication we were up was that the site started telling me it coldn’t see the database. (Oh, Great)  I managed to locate it on another server, by doing a little reverse engineering. Cost me about an hour of downtime that wasn’t nessesary..
  The time-base issue as I mentioned yesterday was my own bloody fault; I forgot I made the ‘we’re going down’ post sticky, and so when it showed up at the top, I assumed the database server was hosed. Of course, I was on the phone to them about this when I remembered the problem and fixed it.(Cuss, squirm)I ran a backup on the system last night; Usually takes around 3 hours. Last night went in about 1/3 of that time. Not too bad, given the size of the place. So I guess it was worth it.I noted our hit counts were a bit off; not unexpected after 48 hours or so of downtime. Then, I noticed that site connectivity was going on and offline for a while around 6 eastern, this monring. I suppose they’re still moving stuff around… routers, mostly. I find this a little annoying. I mean, I’m no stranger to server room moves, having run a few server rooms myself and having particiated in several moves involving both those environments and others. I’m sympathetic to the techs, there, trust me. Been there, done that. But they might have made me a bit happier had they informed us connectivity would be a bit spotty for a while. Given my background, I’d have even understood it, though I wonder if most of the rest of their customers would have.

  So, we’re back, but may be up and down a bit for a few days, yet. Pardon our dust, and all that.

• Thinking about brining the trailer home sometime this week. Still too darned cold to do any prep work, but the ground where it’s stored is kinda soft; I’d just as soon not leave it there much longer.
• Apparently Mugabe is on his way out, based on elections there over the weekend. With any degree of luck, they’ll have him at the end of a rope, shortly.
• Been playing with Ubuntu 7.10 on one of my older systems, here. Nice, actually, for what it does. Running it on a 700 with 512mb of RAM. Not much, but it was handy. Amazingly enough, it doesn’t do badly in that restrictive environment. I have no doubts about it being a productive system. What I wonder is, if we’ll end up to the point where a similar amount of commercial level software will be available for it. At the moment, I’m trying to connect it to the database that runs this blog. Make my life a lot easier, that would. Ubuntu comes with the Gnome UI. I’m currently wondering what the KDE UI looks like, too, (It’s available in Kubuntu) but I’ll get to that. One of the advantages of having a lot of ‘toasters’ around; You can play like this.
• I see where the usually liberal-whacko HuffPo is noting that WalMart has dropped something on the order of 45 superstore building plans, and can’t explain it. (Oh, granted, the writer, someone called Al Norman, who proudly mentions he’s working for a group called ‘sprawl-busters’ (Gee, a Democrat, ya think?) takes credit by way of the group.. but the group has been around a long time, and it seems unreasonable to me to assume that their success ratio would suddenly change so rapidly. (Don’t throw your arm outta joint there, AL, OK?) Perhaps a look at the economy is worthwhile. When the economy is down, is when places like WalMart do best, whereas the higher priced places lag. When the economy is poor is when Wal Mart suffers. Obviously, what I’m suggesting is that they’re seeing an improved economy on the horizon.
• Did you know that today is Gordie Howe’s 80th Birthday? I didn’t. If you have to ask who Gordie Howe is, never mind.
• I’m with you here, Billy, and I have two within shooting distance, you should pardon the pun… though in all honesty, I gave up in their stuff a long time ago. Altogether too greasy. I’m fond of Pontillo’s, myself. Or, Dorians, if I’m out Syracuse way.
• Oh, speaking of Beck,I saw this over at SnuggHarbor.And yes, Guy, I agree, that Connie nails this one. Credit where it’s due, and all of that. Yet I suspect that were Beck to try what she proposes, on some of HER arguments… and he has, in the past, she’d boot ’em off. Oh, wait… she already did. The point I’m making is her targets appear, when looked at in the long term, to be selective at least.
• Much is being made, just now, of the Vatican admitting there are more Muslims than there are Roman Catholics.  However, there are currently about 38000 denominations of Christianity. The Roman church was the biggest of these, but it’s population has been dropping YOY for a number of years, now, whereas the other denominations have been increasing in population YOY for the last decade or so, at a somewhat faster rate than the Roman churchhas been dropping. It seems logical to conclude that the news from Rome is less than the surface arguments we’re seeing now, make it.

  Last week, Obama made a speech in New York where he blamed lobbyists, greedy businessmen and complacent Washington politicians for creating “an ethic of greed.” He says that this “greed” of the evil rich has led to today’s “foreclosure crisis.” Then Obama traipsed off to the Manhattan headquarters of Credit Suisse for a fundraiser.

  I mean, you can’t make this stuff up!! 

• And while we’re on the subject of Obama, I find it amusing he’s straining so hard to get Hillry to quit the primary… which, by the way is the only way he can win without it going to the convention floor.  Look, gang, if Obama can’t stand a little heat from Hilalry Clinton, how do you suppose he and his will fare with, say, Iran?

A study released this month by Cornell University’s Institute for Women and Work found that women hold less than 15 percent of board directorships and executive officer positions at the 100 largest publicly traded companies based in New York.

My initial reaction to both tripe like Daneman wrote and the Cornell study on which the article was based was — so.   It not that I don’t care.  Nobody a few in the media and on some college campuses care.    Women of certain age don’t care who is sitting on the board of Kodak or Xerox.   They would rather talk about their grandchildren. 

Was finishing off breakfast when a nice couple walking in.   Told Lou not to let Grace see the article, it was on the front page.   Grace she already read it and had things to worry about.  Don’t we all?

Which brings me to Kyle Smith who has column up about Susan Parker’s new book, “called “The Sexual Paradox.”   Smith, New York Post, “Equality Means Choosing the Job You Really Want:”

Pinker no longer finds anything particularly worrisome about the facts. She derides what she calls the “vanilla gender assumption” – one sternly defended by today’s angry Salon.com-brand feminist – that females should emulate male behavior until every field is 50-50 and every income disparity eliminated. What if the average female’s desire to care for others, to choose a job in which human interaction comes before income or power, to feel that there’s more to life than work, were simply seen as the unexceptionable norm? Reading Pinker’s book, you start to think that the freaks are those who work 80 hours a week in jobs they hate in order to brag that they beat the next guy – just in time to drop dead of a heart attack

Becoming the CEO of Fortune 500 company is the end result of a long series of decisions a person makes.    In my observation, executives tend to be workaholics, which I am not.   Workaholism is disease which tend to strike men for often.   On the other shoe, women get inflicted with that disease called balance.  Men are simply more likely to obtain pleasure from doing one activity to excess.

Which path would women prefer to take, the one which leads to taking about their grandchildren or the one that has them talking about the boardroom?

Is Barack Obama a middle of the road, moderate, politician who can bring the two Americas of John Edwards together?   In a word, no!   However BO plays one on the campaign trail.    Kenneth P. Vogel, Polito,

It is now apparent why BO is taking such pains to make his records from the Illinois legislature unavailable.

It is not merely that BO is morally unfit to hold any office of public trust.  BO’s level of dishonesty is Clintonian in magnitute.

It’s not the Bill Clinton-Al Gore party, which was strong internationalists, strong on defense, pro-trade, pro-reform in our domestic government. It’s been effectively taken over by a small group on the left of the party that is protectionist, isolationist and basically will –and very, very hyperpartisan. So it pains me. I’m a Democrat who came to the party in the era of President John F. Kennedy. It’s a strange turn of the road when I find among the candidates running this year that the one, in my opinion, closest to the Kennedy legacy, the John F. Kennedy legacy, is John S. McCain.

At Time, Michael Scherer complains:

He is not just condemning his party’s position on Iraq, or praising McCain, his long-time friend. He is condemning in sweeping language the very core identity of the Democratic Party as weak and extremist. This is a tried and true Republican theme, which traditionally has more to do with scaring independent voters than with actual reasoned debate of the issues.

There’s no other way to call this one, gang;
Liberman is correct, insofar as he’s identified qualities that the right has already identified in him, whichw as what caused them to object so earlier this year. He’s also identified a partisanship that Zell Millar saw back in 2000, as Scherer correctly notes. Where Scherer gets it wrong, of course is that this is simply a matter of revenge. This is yet another Democrat who has correctly identified what’s happened to his party. The thematic similarlity of Liberman and Miller’s comments noted by Scherer as orchestration, are in fact an accurate read on Lieberman’s part. Put another way, This is not about Liberman changing. This is about the Democrats changing.

This is a bitter pill for the far left to swallow. But, you know, it was just a few short years back, the Democrats were willing to offer a VP post to Liberman based n his integrity. Maybe the Democrats should take the man seriously based on that integrity. They won’t of course, so deep are they in their partisanship. However; to ignore his warning is to ignore many millions of FORMER Democrats, who made their escape from the party for the reasons enumerated by Lieberman.

I’d like to see a study at some point; How many, I wonder, of the supposed ‘middle’, which we have for a long time identified as actually being leftist, are in reality, Democrats who have been disaffected as Zell Miller and Joe Liberman have been?

And don’t misread my comments as praise for Lieberman. He represents, in my view, a leftward tilt to the Republican party it… and the country as a whole… can ill afford… as it absorbs an increasing number of disaffected Democrats… run out of their party by the increasingly Stalinist tilt. My friends, if there’s an indication of just how much control the whacko left has over the Democrat party today, it’s the number of people being run out of it, that are showing up supporting middle-left Republicans. People like Joe Lieberman, and those that have been voting for him, including in the 2000 election. In the end, it’s those people that this election is going to come down to… as well as deciding the future of the Democrat party; assuming it actually HAS one.

By way of John Hawkins’ Conservative Grapevine, we get news that backs something Ive been saying for weeks now. I’ve been saying that we’re about to see a massive price drop… that even exclusive of any major finds, that the fundamentals are not there for $70.BBS, much less $100+/BBL…. and thusfar if anyone dared comment, it was in laughter. Well, laugh THIS off:

In the next 30 days the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) will release a new report giving an accurate resource assessment of the Bakken Oil Formation that covers North Dakota and portions of South Dakota and Montana. With new horizontal drilling technology it is believed that from 175 to 500 billion barrels of recoverable oil are held in this 200,000 square mile reserve that was initially discovered in 1951. The USGS did an initial study back in 1999 that estimated 400 billion recoverable barrels were present but with prices bottoming out at $10 a barrel back then the report was dismissed because of the higher cost of horizontal drilling techniques that would be needed, estimated at $20-$40 a barrel.

It was not until 2007, when EOG Resources of Texas started a frenzy when they drilled a single well in Parshal N.D. that is expected to yield 700,000 barrels of oil that real excitement and money started to flow in North Dakota. Marathon Oil is investing $1.5 billion and drilling 300 new wells in what is expected to be one of the greatest booms in Oil discovery since Oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia in 1938.

And there ya go, gang. Exactly as it has in the past, the free market pops up and deals with shortages.When there’s money involved, people find a way to get it done. If there are shortages, it’s government doing. When free markets happen, shortages tend to disappear. It’s really that simple. (BBCT: Adam Smith)

Is there an oil bubble which is about to burst due the (re)discovery of this vast Bakken oil field?  No.

The question with the Bakken formation is how much oil can be recovered and at what cost.   It seems that the technology to recover the Bakken oil can  be developed considering the current price of oil    That could well deflate the bubble, not implode it.

Hume, on Friday: 

The left-wing blog Think Progress has had to eat its words after claiming presidential candidate John McCain plagiarized.

An entry posted Thursday – under the heading “Corrupt Establishments” – claims that McCain lifted parts of a speech given by retired Navy Rear Admiral Timothy Ziemer. During a Wednesday speech to the Los Angeles World Affairs Council McCain said, “When nations seek to resolve their differences by force of arms, a million tragedies ensue.”

The site compared that to Ziemer’s words, “War is awful and when nations seek to resolve their differences by fighting, a million tragedies ensue.”

The site listed three other instances where McCain copied parts of Ziemer’s 1996 speech. The problem is McCain has been using these lines since 1995. The site has since posted an apology saying, “It appears Ziemer’s speech may have been plagiarized from McCain… the senator used these lines before Ziemer… we regret the error.”

Only took a small riot to cause them to admit they got it 180 degrees off.

Now, note, please, how long it’s taken the rest of the left enders to catch on; They’re still at it. 

And as Calderone points out, the whole thing coulda been avoided, had they bothered to contact the campaign.  Of course, that assumes Think Progress” is after fact.

And by the way; Is this how the left enders respond when they can’t argue against the points being made… the question who it was originally MADE them?
