It is in the public interest to promote school safety. Yet one of the following two pictures is a freaping joke.
Tell me which one?
The difference between working in whore house and for the Main Stream Media, is that a whore does not have lie to her mother how she earns her living. Being a journwhoreist means having no shame. Every thing the media reported other than the fact of a horrific school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut was needless and most of it was wrong. There was no public interest served by attempted identification of the shooter, and considerable harm down when the lame streamers identified the brother of the shooter as the perp. From Matt K. Lewis, Week:
It’s time to have a national conversation… about the media.
[…]
And when it comes time for moralizing, the media predictably assumes the availability of guns is the problem, without considering how journalists themselves might be contributing to the coarsening of our already-violent society.
Funny how the hoplophobic media continues to profess bewilderment that the so-called “Gun=Free Safety Zone” simply does not, and can not work, while spending much of the day in armed citadels mistakenly referred to as newsrooms.
So in who or what you trust to protect your freedom, a vibrant Second Amendment, or a journwhoreist the ilk of Walter Duranty.
It is Three in the morning, the nation is in crisis and the Secretary of State, and wanna be president Mrs. Clinton, has woman problemss, from Hill:
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton fainted and suffered a concussion, the department said Saturday. She is now recovering at home.
“While suffering from a stomach virus, Secretary Clinton became dehydrated and fainted, sustaining a concussion,” deputy assistant secretary Philippe Reines said in a statement.
“She has been recovering at home and will continue to be monitored regularly by her doctors.
Fainting befits a southern belle like say Scarlet O’Hara. It hardly befits a wanna be president.
Adam Lanze killed a reported twenty-seven people, himself include, in Newtown Connecticut. The hoplophobes are predictably calling for yet more gun control, as if gun control has somehow made Chicago safe.
Points:
First, the ever popular so-called “Gun Free Safety Zone” is neither gun free nor safe, from Glenn Reynolds, Useless Toady:
One of the interesting characteristics of mass shootings is that they generally occur in places where firearms are banned: malls, schools, etc. That was the finding of a famous 1999 study by John Lott of the University of Maryland and William Landes of the University of Chicago, and it appears to have been borne out by experience since then as well.
Gun laws do not deter people intent on breaking the law.
Second, Lanza had issues, fromAce, Ace of Spades:
Adam Lansa Was Autistic, Had Asperger’s, and Had a Personality Disorder:So says his surviving brother.

This is a very sticky question for any society. What we have here, it seems, was a Strange Young Man.
What do you do about Strange Young Men? The state can attempt an intervention, but that’s a nice, euphemistic way to say “interfere with their lives for no better reason than the fact that they act oddly.” Most people who act oddly or are socially inept are perfectly nice and law-abiding. (I’m one of them.)
On the other hand, you can strictly observe their freedom to be odd ducks, and suffer the occasional calamity when it turns out that this particular odd duck was the one you should have checked on.
Third, Lanz was over dosed on the culture of self esteem, where is more important to feel than it is to be good I call Mike Huckabee the Dope from Hope, but heck even dopes have their day. The Dopesterr has one Igor Volsky’s knickers in a twist, from Stink Progres:
HUCKABEE: Well, you know, it’s an interesting thing. We ask why there is violence in our schools, but we’ve systematically removed God from our schools. Should we be so surprised that schools would become a place of carnage because we’ve made it a palce where we don’t want to talk about eternity, life, what responsibility means, accountability? That we’re not just going to have to be accountable to the police, if they catch us. But one day, we will stand before a Holy God in judgment. If we don’t believe that, then we don’t fear that.
Lanza would not have gon one his murder spree had known of and obeyed the Golden Rule: Do onto other as you would have do onto you.
From NBC News, via Nice Deb:
Embattled U.N. envoy Susan Rice is dropping out of the running to be the next secretary of state after months of criticism over her Benghazi comments, she told NBC News on Thursday.
“If nominated, I am now convinced that the confirmation process would be lengthy, disruptive and costly – to you and to our most pressing national and international priorities,” Rice wrote in a letter to President Obama
Reax:
And any anger she feels toward Republicans for her misfortune is misdirected. There is only one person she should be mad at for losing her the plum position of Sec. of State, and that’s the guy who sent her out there to lie on the Sunday talk shows like a ridiculous hack, making her ineligible for the job.
I doubt that Frenchy Kerry will be much of an improvement. I do believe that Elmo is available.
Fauxasquawa, a/k/a Lying Lizzie, b/k/a Elizabeth Warren, the first self-proclaimed Nive American to be elected to the United States Senate, Elizabeth Warren will Not Serve On Committee On Indian Affairs. It seems that even Dirty Harry Reid is not so stupid as to believe that Fauxasquawa is really a Native American.

The Snark of the Day is fake, but classic:
“Intelligence officials working with DHS and the Lansing Michigan police department have confirmed that the violent acts that occurred were due to a disgusting right-wing video posted on YouTube. I strongly condemn the hateful message in the video and we are looking into who may be responsible. We have some early reports that the video was posted by someone connected to the Koch brothers, but as of now we are not sure if they are directly involved.” the President said.
Andy H. Lonely Conservative.
The Thug of the Day is Max Read. Actually thug is too nice of a word to describe a reprobate like Read. If Read were man enough to be a real thug, he be willing to do his own dirty work. Instead Read cheers from the sidelines, while pro-Obama union goons do Read’s dirty work, from Gawker:
Do We Really Have to Condemn the Union Protestor Who Punched Fox News Comedian Steven Crowder?
[…]
I have a third solution: Steven, stop whining, take your licks, and accept that getting hit in the face is a hazard of inserting yourself in the middle of an argument between billionaire-funded know-nothing ideologues and people whose livelihoods and stability are being threatened by the insatiable greed of the super-rich and the blind extremism of their wooden-headed political allies. In exchange, liberals will buy you a band-aid for the cut on your forehead and re-iterate that Punching Is Bad. Sound good? Send your answer on Twitter.
No Mr. Read, you don’t have to condemn anyone or anything. The choice is is yours and yours alone to make, as the consequences your actions are your alone to bear.
The Bitsblog Thug of the Day is Tony Cummings.

Hat tip and more: Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit.
That is Steven Crowder’s face at the end of Mr. Cummings fist. President Fifty Seven States condemned Michigan’s new right to work law even before it was signed into law. So far, the White House has been silent Mr Cumming’s violence. Will the president ever say if he had a son it would look like Steven Crowder?
An examination of the culture of failure, rom Daniel Miller, Mail (UK(:
A professor at the University of Texas has sparked outrage by claiming black and Hispanic students are failing academically because they have been raised in single parent homes usually by females.
Law professor Lino Graglia was talking to the BBC when he said he could ‘hardly imagine a less beneficial or more deleterious experience than to be raised by a single parent, usually female, uneducated and without a lot of money.’
He said the average black performance on SAT test is 200 points lower than that for the average white student and that among the black population almost three quarters of children are now born outside of marriage.
[…]
In response the League of United Latin American Citizens demanded he resign issuing a resolution which stated: ‘Graglia believes that minority students come from a culture of failure.
‘He knows nothing of our culture and has never crawled down from his ivory tower to find out
His lack of respect for the students who sit in his classes is unacceptable. His contempt for our leaders is intolerable.’
Reax, katievs, Ricochet
Why Is This Controversial?
To make any cultural progress you must reject the left’s meme that somehow, someway, all cultures are equal. If all cultures are equal no culture is better than any other culture. Which so say that culture in say Austin, Texas can be no better than that in the antebellum South
So what does Professor Graglia’s attitude towards blacks and Latinos have to so with their SAT scores? Not a damn thing.
If stable families and adequat5 income do not contribute to a child’s success in life, what is the need for any social welfare program?
IF stay at home fathers do not contribute a damn thing to their children’s success, they all ought just walk about the door.
Barack Obama is both a highly credentialed but very uneducated man. Have been inflicted by indoctrination in lieu of education, Obmaa now seeks to indoctrinate our youth.
The point I would make is that the novelist and the historian are seeking the same thing: the truth — not a different truth: the same truth — only they reach it, or try to reach it, by different routes. Whether the event took place in a world now gone to dust, preserved by documents and evaluated by scholarship, or in the imagination, preserved by memory and distilled by the creative process, they both want to tell us how it was: to re-create it, by their separate methods, and make it live again in the world around them.
From Paul Mirengoff Powerline:
Controversy is brewing over new Common Core State Standards in English that call on public schools to emphasize the reading of “information text” instead of fictional literature. According to the Washington Post, English teachers across the country are upset by what they consider the government’s effort “to drive literature out of the classroom.”
[…]
Consider that one of the “informational texts” recommended as a replacement for, say, Great Expectations is “Executive Order 13423: Strengthening Federal Environmental, Energy, and Transportation Management.” Students would thus study government propaganda in English class (this Executive Order was issued under President Bush, but it is still propaganda — a political sop to the environmental left, as Stanley Kurtz shows).
Reax from Rob Port, Say Anything Blog:
So, in exchange for federal dollars, schools are being forced to replace Huckleberry Finn and Silas Marner with readers of political essays about the virtues of government health care.
Education is supposed to be about teaching kids how to think, and literature is an important part of that process.
This policy is about teaching kids what to think.
States need to take back education.
Education can only strive to teach how to seek the truth and hopefully find it. As Foote not4d above the truth may be figurative or literal. One such figurative attempt to find the truth, from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain a.k.a. Samuel Clemens (1835-1910), About:
I didn’t rightly know what to say, because I didn’t know whether the boat would be coming up the river or down. But I go a good deal on instinct; and my instinct said she would be coming up — from down towards Orleans. That didn’t help me much, though; for I didn’t know the names of bars down that way. I see I’d got to invent a bar, or forget the name of the one we got aground on — or — Now I struck an idea, and fetched it out:
“It warn’t the grounding — that didn’t keep us back but a little. We blowed out a cylinder-head.”
“Good gracious! anybody hurt?”
“No’m. Killed a nigger.”
“Well, it’s lucky; because sometimes people do get hurt. Two years ago last Christmas your uncle Silas was coming up from Newrleans on the old Lally Rook, and she blowed out a cylinder-head and crippled a man. And I think he died afterwards. He was a Baptist. Your uncle Silas knowed a family in Baton Rouge that knowed his people very well. Yes, I remember now, he DID die. Mortification set in, and they had to amputate him. But it didn’t save him. Yes, it was mortification — that was it. He turned blue all over, and died in the hope of a glorious resurrection. They say he was a sight to look at. Your uncle’s been up to the town every day to fetch you. And he’s gone again, not more’n an hour ago; he’ll be back any minute now. You must a met him on the road, didn’t you? — oldish man, with a –“
Alas poor Huck may be a bigot. However through his words, he does reveal the truth of his time. There much more truth to gleamed from Juck, that from a USDA list of invasive species. The purpose of reading of Huck Finn is not to agree with him or admire his, but rather to think and form opinions of him.
Some current polling, and what it means as regards the election… and it’s an angle I see nobody else exploring.
The poll in question is pointed to by Dan Halper, over at The Weekly Standard… and their shocking ignorance of what the poll says about the candidate Kristol and company backed, speaks volumes.
A new poll conducted by Politico/GWU/Battleground finds that 76 percent of Americans favor “Cutting government spending across the board.”
Fifty-nine percent of Americans registered to vote strongly favor the “across the board” cuts and 17 percent “somewhat” favor the cuts. Only 13 percent strongly oppose “across the board” spending cuts, and 10 percent “somewhat” oppose the cuts. Two percent are unsure.
The obvious issue with these numbers, is that they fly in the face of the recent election. Are we realy to believe that the same people who voted in a dyed in the wool socialist, who ran a campaign on his dramatically increased government spending, did so because they wanted to see spending cuts across the board?
If we assume, (and we must, for the moment) that both the polling and the election results are both valid and free of fraud, then there’s got to be another reason for the obvious disparity between the election results and the polling data.
The most obvious, is exactly the one I suggested a few weeks ago… and it’s a conclusion that Kristol and Barnes won’t like very much, I fear… and its one I’ve already pointed out… most recently when I reposted my complaints about Romney….
Remember, I said just the other day:
First, Obama won with a smaller number of voters than in 08. Indeed, Romney got fewer voters than McCain. Now, that should be no shock, since Romney, back in 08 was considered to be less conservative than McCain, himself being no conservative. That perception among conservative voters hasn’t changed with the passage of 4 years.
Clearly, the electorate of 2012 felt they had nobody to vote for. The problems with Romney as I list her in this bit from 2011, I more than suspect as being in the minds of conservative voters as they sat on their hands in even larger numbers in 2012 than they did in 2008. Had the GOP leadership heeded my call, we’d not have four more years of the Obama made disaster… a disaster I fear we may never fully recover from. The leadership of the GOP is unresponsive to the point of urgent need of finding replacement for the lot of them. It’s time to do that now. And yes, that means with the Tea Party folks. Because alas, I see no real conservatives elsewhere.
Conservatives sitting on their hands in large numbers in the last election is the only way to explain all of this. Yet, it’s the one conclusion the denizens of The Weekly Standard dare not draw, because it is they and people like them who have been urging us toward the mythical political center…. and who have been active in pushing out all vestages of real conservatism.
The people…as a whole are far more conservative than the offerings of the GOP and the consultant class driving them, have been offering. And its time this factor was taken seriously, and as a prime motivator in choosing candidates. Failure to seek out and promote real conservatives, not centrists, means only one outcome…The GOP will not win another election.
Bill and Fred; Are you listening, yet?
The Morsi lesson for Republicans by way of The Guardian:
President Mohamed Morsi has scrapped a controversial decree granting himself near-absolute powers, but insisted that a referendum on a new constitution would go ahead as planned next Saturday. The concession is unlikely to placate Morsi’s opponents. It came after Egypt’s military warned that failure to resolve a crisis over the drafting of the constitution would result in “disastrous consequences” that c
ould drag the country into a “dark tunnel”.
– The opposition called for more protests and accused Morsi of continuing to ignore the will of the people. “We call on Egyptian youth to hold peaceful demonstrations and sit-ins in all of Egypt’s squares until our demands are met,” the National Salvation Front said in a statement. Speaking to the BBC World Service, Ahmed Said leader of Free Egyptians Party and a member of the front, said: “This constitution does not represent Egyptians. We need to take time. He wants the constitution, because they want the parliament, they want the Shura council. It all has to do with the Muslim Brotherhood. They want to take over everything.”
There’s a couple of lessons for the American GOP, here… but before I mention then let’s understand that the positions held by Morsi and his opposition are not totally analogous to our own political situation. Let me be clear; Morsi is an animal that should be led out and shot. Publicly.
That said, it seems that at a very basic level, concessions made to your political opposition does not mean that your opposition is going to start liking you. Here in the states, that means that concessions to Obama and company, and this includes the press, is not going to make them like the GOP more. Does anyone remember 41’s no new taxes pledge, which he broke in a concession to the Democrats, who then used the increased taxes as a tool to defeat Bush. Secondly, take a cue, GOP from the opposition in Cairo… grow a spine and they’ll listen. No more concessions to Democrats. None. Indeed, there’s no reason to even be civil to them, anymore, anymore than they’ve been treating US with respect. Stand up and be counted as conservatives and stop apologizing and stop trying to lean to the mythical center. It’s that attitude that’s cost you the last several elections.
I know that Jason Whitlock, like is fellow members of the Klu Klux Klan, believes that blacks should not be trusted with guns. While in addition to disarming blacks, maybe Whit lock thinks blacks should banned from driving as well, from Karen Brooks:
(Reuters) – Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent was arrested for drunk driving and charged with manslaughter on Saturday after a car he was driving crashed and killed teammate Jerry Brown Jr, in the second tragedy involving NFL players in a week.
With over thirty thousand motor vehicle deaths per year, it is about time to ban the car culture. If there were no motor vehicles, each year over thirty thousand more people would be alive.
