Hare Brained Congressman Phil Hare ( IL – 17) proves his elevator never gets out of the basement, from Dan Karipides, Wizbang:

And we will see a terrible price that we will pay years down the road for letting our children down when they need us the absolute most. I’m not going to be part of that, so every minute that I have here is going to be spent debunking the myth that this country’s in debt and we just can’t spend.

And the video:

Spending money we do not have and blaming it on the children.

Chris Christie, not spending money New Jersey does not have, by Noah Kazis, Street Blog:

The largest federal transit investment in American history is on its deathbed, reports Andrea Bernstein at Transportation Nation. Three sources have told Bernstein that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is ready to pull the plug on the plan to double rail capacity under the Hudson River this week, though Christie denies his mind is made up.

Christie is leader.   Hare is an eggplant.

Deriding Portnoy, Steven Portnoym ABC News:

Derision of the president on his program is nothing new, but Rush Limbaugh’s tone today may have struck the ears of regular listeners as particularly disdainful, taking his contempt of the president to a new level.

The nation’s preeminent conservative talk radio host referred to Mr. Obama as a “jackass,” an “economic illiterate” and an “idiot, where capitalism is concerned

Cut the man some slack, from Dan Riehl, Reihl World ViewL

Jaysus, it may be the first time I was confident he was telling the truth. Obama called Kanye West, who is a jackass, a jackass off the record. Big deal.

If it had been Cheney he would have said, eff him. And I’d have liked that even more

Sorry Steve, no  deal.   If jackass is good enough word for Barack Obama to use as description,  it good enough to use to describe Obama himself.

For what it is worth, don’t believe it appropriate to call Dumbo, a/k/a Barack Obama a jackass.    After all,  jackasses have feeling.  Further Eric told me never to refer to Obama as an ass.   An ass has one useful function.

I Want A Promotion!

Published: October 5, 2010 – 11:00 AM Hey, Kevin? I think it’s time we once again reconsidered my title around these parts. After all, if Andrew Sullivan’s blog — which he apparently only sometimes writes, and other times lets his staffers write stuff under his name — can rate a “senior editor” of the “most important one-man blog in the world,” why can’t we have one, too? And why can’t I be that one?

My qualifications: well, I’ve been with the site longer and earlier than anyone but you

Senior writer?   Well I am a senior and I do write.

Dumbo’s Delusions, Michael Goodwin, New York Post:

Barack Obama has gone from a failing president to flailing at ghosts. Even allowing for desperate times, his desperate measures are a national embarrassment.

Emancipation? Give us a break.

With each passing day, his denunciations of dissent and inflated claims of economic progress turn off the independent voters who will decide the midterm elections. He is ignoring the sensible advice to listen to the majority of voters and build a governing coalition.

Usama bin Laden, stand-up comic, via Steve Gilbert, Sweetness & Light:

CAIRO – Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden called for the creation of a new relief body to help Muslims in an audiotape released Friday, seeking to exploit discontent following this summer’s devastating floods in Pakistan by depicting the region’s governments as uncaring.

It was the third message in recent weeks from al-Qaida figures concerning the massive floods that affected around 20 million people in Pakistan, signaling a concentrated campaign by the terror group to tap into anger over the flooding to rally support…

If bin Laden wants us to spend less money for defense, he  should first stop waging war on the Wsst.

If the Arabs want more charity, let them spend some of the petro-dollars for relief rather than palaces and golf courses.

Sanchez the Clown – out, Spitzer the John – in, from Kenneth Lovett, New York Daily News:

When Eliot Spitzer’s rehab hits high gear Monday night with his new CNN talk show, most viewers will remember him solely as “Client 9” in a high-end hooker scandal.

More on One Nation rally, I was reading about last weekends labor rally.   One picture had me flummoxed the end to war and the creation of jobs.    Was perplexed by just what economic model they were using, or more apt,  just what planet they were from.   I mean it not like government keeps jobs looked in some hidden locked to be dispense ala  food stamps.

The fact is that labor is a commodity, a product of human  endeavor which has value.   Business buys commodity, like McDonalds buys hamburgers, when they expect they can resell the commodity at a profit.    A business will not purchase a commodity, say labor, if they do expect to garner a profit, in this case selling the fruits of  the purchased labor.

Well Doug Powers, posting at Michelle Malkin, found this gem from Reason Tv,  from a somebody called West Texas Boy.

Jobs are a byproduct of healthy industry. They are not a goal in and of themselves and they most definitely are not something the government itself should be trying to encourage or create.

Note the original is not exactly in the language of Milton Friedman, and it is definitely Not Safe for Work or in front your mother,  Reason Tv,

From Gas2, comes the news of what the Obama Misadministration is now pushing:

The Natural Resources Defense Council issued a statement that the EPA and DOT plan to push through regulation that demands automakers get a fleet-wide fuel economy average of up to 62 mpg by 2025.

To which he adds: “sounds good to me”… this labeling himself a complete fool .

As the brainless author in his own article points out, we haven’t even gotten to 35 MPG yet… And look at the devastation that the current “green” initiatives is causing. Mort Zuckerman:

The headline unemployment number underplays the disaster. The 9.6 percent quoted does not reflect those who have stopped looking for work since mid-2008—that would give a rate of over 11 percent. Private incomes remain about 5.4 percent below the level of the third quarter of 2008, a dramatically bigger drop than in any previous postwar cycle, when private incomes never declined at all.

The true figure of our jobs predicament is 17 percent: the combination of the unemployed and the underemployed—those who can only find part-time work. That 17 percent is the highest figure since the 1930s.

Ohhhhh….   and …. yes that includes the “green jobs” that Obama talked about. what we’re seeing is the result of putting the myth a global warming and the socialist redistribution of wealth above the actual creation of jobs.  This is what happens in a command economy.  This is the change that Obama brought to the table.

Can we change it back now, please ?

Christmas in September, Bobby Gibbs floated for DNC chair, Frances Martel,Mediaite:

According to Mike Allen‘s Saturday morning report, talks have begun within the party to gauge interest in Gibbs as the DNC head for President Obama’s reelection run in 2012. “According to people who have been consulted,” major Democratic donors have reacted positively to the idea, as it would put an Obama campaign insider in full control of the party and expand the Obama administration’s influence outside the White House, along with the impending departure of senior adviser David Axelrod and this week’s departure of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. Gibbs is expected to take his leave soon as well, perhaps for an advisory position within the White House.

It is Obama administration practice to throw any democrat necessary under the bus to protect Dim Won.   Come November 2012, Dumbo coujld be a very lonely person.
One Nation, one flop, form Scott Wong, Politico:

Organizers said they were expecting more than 100,000 to attend the rally. Thousands of people packed the area around the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, but based on an unscientific estimate there were significantly fewer people than when Fox News’ Glenn Beck hosted the conservative “Restoring Honor” rally there Aug. 28. At that rally, attendees were forced to stand shoulder to shoulder the entire length of the Reflecting Pool.

Meltdown:  Rich Sanchez version.   CNN fires Rick Sanchez, from Steve Krakauer, Mediaite:

CNN released this statement today:

“Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well.”

They will broadcast CNN Newsroom from 3-5pm for the foreseeable future.

Here’s more from the story earlier today:
CNN’s Rick Sanchez is not happy with being made fun of constantly on The Daily Show and Colbert Report. It is from this jumping off point that he absolutely unleashed on Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, and at times his own network, on Pete Dominick’s satellite radio show yesterday.

Background from Ed Morrissey, Hot Air:

Talk about biting the hand that feeds him!  CNN has been rather patient with Sanchez, who hasn’t exactly produced blockbuster numbers.  He’s certainly produced his share of embarrassing moments, however, and whoever runs the show at CNN has kept Sanchez on the air through it all.

The question is not way Sanchez was fired.   He was incompetent and mentally unstable.  The question is why Sanchez  lasted so long,     Now Sanchez will be replaced by a john.

Meltdown:  Dumbo version. John Podhoretz, Commentary:

Here are some things Barack Obama said this evening to Democratic donors (I quote from Mark Knoller’s Twitter feed):

“Now’s not the time to quit…it took time to free the slaves…ultimately we’ll make progress.”

“I need you to be fired up.”

“There better not be an enthusiasm gap, people.”

Ordinarily, I don’t think it’s wise to second-guess the communications or rallying skills of a man who garnered 69 million votes. I don’t know if I ran for office that I’d get 6900 votes. But wow. This is some terrible, terrible communicating.

So question Mr. President:  How many rounds of golf did President Lincoln play to free the slaves?

Gloria Allred caught in bald faced lie. Mark Levin destroys Allred, from Nice Deb, video:

Deb also has part two of the interview.  Just because a whore does not like to called a whore, he still a whore.

To paraphrase an old adage, the client who has Gloria Allred for a lawyer is a fool.  Allred is using her supposed client to advance Allred’s political agenda.   Allred is a hack.

Ecp-Terrorism, via Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit, video:

Dumbo is Delusional.  Alas too many cocaine parties and not enough sober study.  Proof that the Obama administration is demented.  Barack Obama had called Fox News destructive, but his administration has lauded the clowns Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow of MSNBC.  You go figure.   Nice Deb has all the story.

More  Delusional,  Dean Esmay l:

There’s some real truth to that in some circles. On the other hand, I’ve seen so much negativity from the Right about liberals and leftists and the Democratic faithful as brainwashed, stupid, arrogant, elitist, stupid, and dishonest, I really wonder how many on the right have really looked at themselves in the mirror lately.

The excuse I hear from my right-wing pals is almost always something that boils down to “well they started it!” To which I can only respond, “Maybe so, maybe not. That looks to me like an excuse, not a mature response.”

Start by ceasing to call the President a liar or an idiot or accusing him of having a sinister agenda just because he doesn’t see things your way. And start calling our your fellow righty pals when they exhibit that same behavior. Just a suggestion.

Given that nothing Dumbo said about the Obamacare proved to be true.   There has to an explantion.    Scott, Powerline, offers one:

It’s a bit late in the day to ask whether President Obama made a single truthful argument in favor of Obamacare. Yet he and his congressional allies probably didn’t expect the exposure of their lies to begin quite this soon after their nationalization of health care.

Soctt gives Dumbo enough credit to think he smart enough to realize that he isl lying.  I do not.    How many times did Dumbo say “If you like your coverage, you can keep your coverage?”

From Janet Adamy, Wall Street Journal:

McDonald’s Corp. has warned federal regulators that it could drop its health insurance plan for nearly 30,000 hourly restaurant workers unless regulators waive a new requirement of the U.S. health overhaul.

The move is one of the clearest indications that new rules may disrupt workers’ health plans as the law ripples through the real world.

Trade groups representing restaurants and retailers say low-wage employers might halt their coverage if the government doesn’t loosen a requirement for “mini-med” plans, which offer limited benefits to some 1.4 million

The Rajun Cajun, James Carville made famous the quip, “It’s the economy, stupid!”  Well some eighteen years later, Carville’s quip may come back to bite the ‘Rats as the Obama economy continues to flounder.

However, inspired by Carville, I suggest a new phrase:   “It is your policies, stupid!”

George Will, Washington Post:

They cannot run on their record, which has two pillars.  One is the stimulus that did not stimulate as they said it would (or else unemployment would not be above 8 percent). The report that the recession ended in June 2009 means the feeble recovery began before stimulus spending really started.

The second pillar is the health-care legislation. This may not be (as suggested by Michael Barone, author of the Almanac of American Politics) the most unpopular major legislation since the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854. But it remains as unpopular as it was when the administration told Americans to pipe down and eat their broccoli.

And Victor Davis Hanson, RCP:

When America votes for a liberal candidate, it is redeemed by the left as intelligent — and derided as dense when it does not. We were told not to worry that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner did not pay all his income taxes since we were lucky to have someone so well educated and experienced in high finance.

Note that few Democratic candidates are running on the health-care bill they passed, promising at the time that it would be appreciated by a suspicious American public. More federal borrowing and amnesty are still pushed under the euphemisms “stimulus” and “comprehensive immigration reform.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed that the tea party movement was merely a synthetic Astroturf movement. Professors and preachers may like such sermonizing, but for politicians it’s a lousy way to get elected. Again, compare the relative fates of the patronizing Adlai Stevenson and the plain-speaking Harry Truman.

You might care to argue that Barack Hussein Obama has somehow has above room temperature intelligence.   Good luck with that argument.    What can not be argued is that  Obama, and his administration, does not listen.

No Shat Sherlock, libtards discover the obvious, from Tom Curry, MSNBC:

Whatever complaints they might have about climate change or other issues, Obama said, it is “just irresponsible” that some Democrats and progressives were lacking enthusiasm for the election.

“If people now want to take their ball and go home that tells me folks weren’t serious in the first place,” he said. “If you’re serious, now’s exactly the time that people have to step up.”

“I think it is a remarkably condescending message,” said Darcy Burner, the executive director of ProgressCongress.org and the Progressive Congress Action Fund

Who’d have thunk that the petulant, spoiled brat known as President I Won would ever considered condescending.

Holy Pig Shat, By Kevin Bogardus, Hill:

House Republicans on Wednesday charged that a multibillion-dollar settlement with black farmers supported by the Obama administration was rife with fraud.

At a press conference in the Capitol Visitor Center, Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Steve King (R-Iowa) alleged that a $1.25 billion Agriculture Department (USDA) settlement to resolve discrimination claims included individuals who were never farmers.

[…]

In calling for the probe, the GOP lawmakers said there were 94,000 claims filed under the settlement even though Census data shows there are only 33,000 black farmers in the United States.

The Obama administration paid  out more settlements than there were black farmers.    Math is hard.

DavidL's Breakfast Scramble
Did you know this was liberal commentary day?  Well neither did I but here it goes anyhow.

First up, Peter Daou:

With each passing day, I’m beginning to realize that the crux of the problem for Obama is a handful of prominent progressive bloggers, among them Glenn Greenwald, John Aravosis, Digby, Marcy Wheeler and Jane Hamsher. (Jane, who has been a friend for years, has become an increasingly controversial figure and I won’t use this post to litigate the claims for or against her.)

Virtually all the liberal bloggers who have taken a critical stance toward the administration have one thing in common: they place principle above party. Their complaints are exactly the same complaints they lodged against the Bush administration. Contrary to the straw man posed by Obama supporters, they aren’t complaining about pie in the sky wishes but about tangible acts and omissions, from Gitmo to Afghanistan to the environment to gay rights to secrecy and executive power.

[…]

As president, Obama has done much good and has achieved a number of impressive legislative victories. He is a smart, thoughtful and disciplined man. He has a wonderful family. His staff (many of whom I’ve worked with in past campaigns) are good and decent people trying to improve their country and working tirelessly under extreme stress. But that doesn’t mean progressives should set aside the things they’ve fought for their entire adult life. It doesn’t mean they should stay silent if they think the White House is undermining the progressive cause.

Mr. Daou has two problems.  One, Mr. Daou is of the opinion that only liberals matter.  That it is duty of Dumbo, b/k/a Barack Obama to simply impose the liberal agenda on the country without regard to the consent of the governed.

Two, for reasons which defy both evidence and common sense, Mr. Daou seems to think that Dumbo has above room temperature intelligence.  Memo to Mr. Daou, the country belongs to the American People, and not to you self-anointed liberal elites, and we taking our country back.

Next the only job Dumbo is trying to save, Jane Hamsher, Fire Dog Lake:

But now that he’s not running, and it’s someone else’s butt on the line, he’s turning the Democratic base into Martha Coakley and setting them up for the blame for any electoral failure in fall.  The people who showed up to vote for him in 2008 “just weren’t serious” if they “now want to take their ball and go home.”

There is no internal consistency to the narrative that the “professional left” is suppressing turnout by criticizing Obama, but Obama is not suppressing turnout when he scolds the voters who aren’t clapping loudly enough for his achievements.  But few in the professional punditocracy find their way to that obvious conclusion.

This isn’t about GOTV. It’s about setting up a fall guy for November. The headline should really read:

Obama Distances Himself From Democratic Voters

Democratic voters are all Martha Coakley now.  And if shielding Obama from blame makes matters worse for those who are actually running in November?  Well, that’s the price of protecting the

If you can recall back a bit more than two years ago,  Dumbo, was not promising blood, sweat, toil and tears, either his or your.  Rather, Dumbo was going to simply lay his healing palms on the oceans and they would somehow stop rising.   Now that Dumbo agenda is deep in his own poop, he now moans that his base is not working hard enough.   For the base it off to the salt mines and for Dumbo, it another round of golf.   It is a tough game, but somebody has to play.  It seems O.J. Simpson can no longer book a tee time.

Last and least, Joe Biden, HillL

Liberals need to “buck up” in preparation for November’s elections, Vice President Joe Biden said Monday night.

Now back to our regular blogging.

Ann Coulter addresses Homocon, from Megan Carpentier TPM:

In one of a series of racially insensitive remarks that pervaded her speech, Coulter added, “Marriage is not a civil right. You’re not black.” It was part of a larger argument on which she later elaborated, telling the crowd that the 14th Amendment only applies to African-Americans and that it does not, in fact, apply to women, LGBT people or other minorities.

It might be too much to ask of Ms Carpentier, but the Fourteenth Amendment was intended to prevent discrimination based on race.    The Fourteenth did not prevent discrimination based on sex.  Hence the Nineteenth Amendment was needed to extend the right to vote to women.

Yet for some strange reason, the pro-sodomy crowd thinks to think while that Fourteenth dose not preclude discrimination based no sex, it somehow precluded discrimination based on the preferred sex of the sexual partner.    If sexual preference is to enshrined into the Constitution, as what point dose it stop?

‘Rats act scared, Jordan Fabian Hill:

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) warned Republicans will investigate President Obama’s birthplace if they take over Congress.

Clyburn, the third-ranking Democrat in the House, said Republicans will grind the government to a halt by issuing subpoenas against the Obama administration over a number of issues if they take power. He predicted that “gridlock” in Congress would “define” Obama’s first term if Republicans win the House, but expressed confidence his party would prevail.

Well maybe it is not an act.   If Barack Obama  actually was born in the United States, producing a  valid birth certificate should be no problem.  Yet Clyburn see a problem.  Wonder why?

Segway owner takes dive, Gavin Allen, Mail(UK):

The multi-millionaire owner of the Segway company died in a freak accident yesterday when he rode one of the high-tech two-wheel machines off a cliff and into a river.
Former miner Jimi Heselden, 62, plunged into the River Wharfe while riding around his West Yorkshire estate in Boston Spa on a rugged country version of the Segway.

Mr Heselden is dead, and the Segway lives.    I’d be much happier if the results were reversed.    The Segway  is neither fish nor fowl.   It  is much too fast for pedestrian lanes and much to slow for vehicle lanes.
