Whoever replaces Joe Biden is going to have a bigger mess to clean up then Noah did at the bottom of the ark after about 15 days.

It’s to the point now where you have to wonder if what they’re doing is an intentionally making the situation unrepairable.

From a few years ago…

===

I said a few months ago…..

Let me take you back in time just a little bit.

Following Judicial Watch’s 2015 report on the 2013 meeting, Senator McCain issued a statement decrying “false reports claiming that his office was somehow involved in IRS targeting of conservative groups.”

So, now comes this:

“Judicial Watch today released newly obtained internal IRS documents, including material revealing that Sen. John McCain’s former staff director and chief counsel on the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee, Henry Kerner, urged top IRS officials, including then-director of exempt organizations Lois Lerner, to ‘audit so many that it becomes financially ruinous.’ Kerner was appointed by President Trump as Special Counsel for the United States Office of Special Counsel.”

~~~~~
So. As Billy Beck noted elsewhere, Lerner was running on McCain’s leash.
I’ve said this before and I will say it again. The one thing that the establishment GOP (and in this I include John McCain) fear more than anything else on the planet… More than losing elections to Democrats, more than Donald Trump, more than anything is actually being conservative. They will fight conservatives tooth and nail. Just like the Democrats. Until such time as you reckon with that fact, none of the rest of this is going to make any sense at all.
And they wonder how somebody like Trump got elected.
That’s in the GOP establishment.
I consider the GOP establishment more dangerous to America’s future because at least the Democrats aren’t pretending to be conservative.
This stuff is going downhill so quickly I can’t keep up with it so I’ll just pass along thoughts that I’ve written down as they occur:
# Where are the followers of Islam who are aghast at what has happened to what we were told was a peaceful religion? We must assume that they are either cowering in fear, or they agree with what’s going on in Afghanistan right now and want to see it inflicted on the rest of the world in the name of their peaceful religion.
I know I’ve said this already but it bears repeating....These events should be the extinction level event for the Democrat party. TheBay of pigs, the failure of the peanut farmer in Iran, even the withdrawal from Iraq by Barack Hussein Obama fails in comparison to the failure of Biden in this case. (Notice all of those failures are perpetrated by Democrats?) That rumbling you here is Joe Biden’s voters collectively rolling over in their graves, a phenomenon best measured on the Richter scale.
# I’d like to suggest that there’s going to be repercussions at the voting booth on these events, but given the demonstrated ability of the Democrats to falsify elections, with the help of their friends the CCP one wonders what the final outcome will be.
The look and feel of press conferences at the White House lately
# Press conferences at the White House have been taking on somewhat of a surreal glow lately. They’re obviously still trying to figure out how to sell this failure as a success.
# The administration and the politicians and military uniforms serving under them are still claiming to be surprised by the events in Afghanistan, events caused by their policies. I’m not buying it. I think what really surprised them was the amount of blowback they got from the disaster that they caused. Which, by the way, is precisely the response you would expect out of an left wingidiologe. They wanted it, so they figured everybody else did too.
From Victory Girls this morning, comes a confirmation of something I’ve already told you:
There are lots of people who could take the fall for Joe Biden regarding Afghanistan. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. Both Blinken and Sullivan have had to face the press lately, and neither sounded confident or in command of any facts.
But
President Biden isn’t inclined to fire any senior national security officials over the chaos in Kabul unless the situation drastically deteriorates or there’s significant loss of American life, people familiar with the matter tell Axios.
Why it matters: Dismissing national security advisor Jake Sullivan, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin or CIA Director William Burns would be tantamount to admitting a mistake, and the president stands by his decision.
Unless the situation “drastically deteriorates” ?
Good lord, I know one should never challenge “worse”, but how in the world can the situation deteriorate any more than it already has?
In any event, I am still convinced, particularly given the actions the Obama Biden administration took in Iraq, which are precisely the actions they took in Afghanistan, simply changing the names in the dates, that this was precisely the desired outcome.
Obama and Biden purged all of the military who had both balls and brains… who weren’t willing to suborn their whack job leftist policies. Policies, which gave us the results we had both in Iraq and Afghanistan. They promoted the people that agreed with their policies. To now admit that those policies were wrong-headed and deadly, by firing they view as politically counterproductive… And I said as much a couple of days back.
In a just world, those responsible for this outrage, from Obama and Biden on down, would be suffering the same as the Afghan people are.
But since the world has never been fair, at least this should be an extinction level event for the Democrat party… And it might be precisely that, if we can keep the establishment GOP (the Bill Kristols Mitt Romneys and George Wills of the world, who have been desperately trying to promote Biden and company), out of the way.
Bruce Springsteen:
Let’s be fair about this. The guy’s an above passable entertainer, and honestly I thought “Tunnel of Love” as an album was absolutely brilliant, particularly for the genre.
But again in all honesty, I tuned out when he started trying to pass himself off on multiple levels as the next Woody Guthrie, New Jersey style.
I recognize that one entertainer starts spouting crap like this, they’re trying to remain relevant to fellows in Hollywood and New York. Maybe they’ll reconsider before they do it again in the future, but I doubt it.
Spencer Brown has the details
Do you realize that our supposed leadership hasn’t gotten one thing right about this covid-19 thing?
Guys, I keep hearing chatter about the possibility of Joe Biden being escorted out of the White House by his own party.
As little as a few months ago I would have said I doubt it, and yet, today it’s beginning to look like that scenario would be a win-win for the Democrats.
There’s no arguing with the idea that Joe Biden (the man who’s single-handedly put “Dem” in “dementia”) is a total screw up, even by Democrat party standards. If your father or your grandfather was exhibiting the mental signs that Joe Biden is exhibiting now, his car keys would have been removed from his collection already and medical supervision would be called for.
The thing is, the Democrats knew this going in. They knew the man was mentally questionable and yet pushed him down the road to the White House anyway.
Why?
Because they knew nobody else in the running could even be faked into the office. The numbers simply were not there. It’s easy enough to aver that they had always pictured removing him from office once it was attained.
The Afghanistan embarrassment continues to get worse, and even the Democrats are finding it increasingly difficult to defend what’s been happening. By all rights, Afghanistan should be an extinction level event for the Democrat party as a whole, much less Joe Biden himself. Certainly, if a republican had screwed up everything he’s touched for the last 6 months that badly, it would be an extinction level event for the Republicans, and rightly so.
The Democrats understand all of this, in a way that makes most finger- gauge types envious. With that understanding, comes the idea that they’re going to have to do something to protect themselves and their party’s future. Become too big an impediment for the agenda, become too big and embarrassment for the party and all of a sudden the knives come out.
We’ve seen the Democrats leap into action on such matters even very recently in the form of Andrew Cuomo, and historically with people like Gary Hart Jim Trafficant, and for that matter, Vince Foster.
So now we have our current situation. In which, I wouldn’t put it past the Democrats to arrange for a sudden and unexplained heart attack for Uncle Creepy. How often have we seen these things happen the last 40 years or so? But I’m thinking the 25th amendment is probably going to be the preferred method of removing this embarrassment from the White House.
Now you’ll recall that I suggested it was going to be a win-win situation. The Democrats, ever willing to do China’s bidding, have been wanting to get us out of Afghanistan for a long time. Inept as he is, Biden has managed to do that for them, and even better than that, he’s managed to arm the terrorists. There wasn’t a way that they were going to get what they wanted without some blood being spilled over there and some international embarrassment. So now they go after Biden with the 25th amendment and say “hey, it wasn’t our fault it was his”.
So they get what they wanted, and once Biden leaves the White House, (by any means necessary) that leaves Harris in the oval office. You’ll recall I remarked about speculation that this is what the Democrats have wanted all along… Getting the far leftist Harris into the big chair. Frankly, it’s beginning to look more and more like that’s what’s been happening here.
So they do China’s bidding, lay the blame at the feet of Joe Biden for the disaster that Democrat party policies have brought, get the far leftist into office, we’re upon they can implement more far leftist policy. From their point of view, a win-win situation, certainly.
From the point of view of the rest of the country however…
Lost in all the noise about Afghanistan is the fact that Afghanistan shares a border with China.
Democrats usually scoff when they are told that the second amendment was intended by our founders to keep the government under control. Weekenders, we are told, would never be able to keep up with the American military.
Meanwhile, his fraudulentcy Joe Biden echoed that line, telling the world that you were going to need nukes and fighter aircraft to take us on in Afghanistan.
Turns out all they needed was a couple of AK-47s and a goat.
So much for the nonsense about the American people not being able to keep the American government under control with firearms… At least, when Democrats are in charge, which is their real fear anyway. Their involvement in government is not about individual freedom, but about Democrat party power, which is precisely the opposite.
Does anyone remember Lord Cornwallis, I wonder? Back in the day he had the same question that some Americans are asking now. How did we get our backsides kicked by a ragtag bunch of…
It must be said in fairness to the fine men and women who are actually serving in the American military that the military didn’t lose this situation. The politicians did.
They ran the same play in Afghanistan, did the Biden administration, that the Obama administration Biden among them ran in Iraq back in 2011, with exactly the same outcome.
People, the Biden administration knew precisely what was going to happen. This was the desired outcome. There’s no other conclusion to draw at this point.
You know who else shares the blame for this? Biden voters. Lincoln Brown says it quite well:
By now you have seen the photos of people falling off of planes trying to escape the Taliban. You have seen the photos of women being shot for not wearing a burka. And no matter how strenuously the legacy media tries to spin it, your alternative to Donald Trump has shattered lives beyond measure. But an idiot in a buffalo hat or a buffoon packing off Nancy Pelosi’s lectern is in no way comparable to what is taking place, and what will take place in Afghanistan.
Lincoln goes on to list some of those happenings in rather graphic detail. I think you need to go see it.
The horror films that we are seeing coming out of Afghanistan right now and the countless atrocities which are not being broadcast, most certainly not even being mentioned by our mainstream media ….it’s your legacy, Biden voters.
Folks, I’m seeing a lot of chatter from The usual suspects telling us about how we should be firing the military responsible for the bungling in Afghanistan.
I must say that I’m somewhat sympathetic to the argument. But let’s consider that the military you’re talking about firing were the ones who were left after Biden and Obama fired all the military types who believe in a strong America, and who thought that at the very least Obama’s policies were buffoonish.
In other words what you’re telling Democrats is to fire people who they approved of. Who share their political views and objectives.
Aside from the idea that the chances of Biden actually firing these people are somewhere between slim and none because to do so would be counter- productive to that agenda, what you’re asking Joe Biden to do at this point is to admit that he and Obama screwed up when they executed that Purge at the Pentagon.
You do know that’s not going to happen, right?
At the bottom line the cause of the failure in Afghanistan was a political ideology, one shared by the administration and by those wearing uniforms that the administration has put in charge. The dismissal for which they are richly deserving will simply not happen because of that shared ideology.
Eric Florack on August 19th, 2021
I mentioned the other day that Joe Biden has now had his Saigon moment. As if to confirm that, we Now find that Kamala Harris is visiting Vietnam.
The White House in explaining the trip suggested it was to aid our allies in the region in their close proximity to China.
Apparently nobody in the white house has ever studied the history of the thing or maybe they’re just making it up to sound good. Even what we know about the Biden and administration my money is on the latter.
One can’t help but wonder if they’ll manage to locate Jane Fonda’s helmet.
Eric Florack on August 18th, 2021
My old boss, Roger Kimball makes the following suggestion in his most recent article for The Spectator:
To say that what just happened in Afghanistan caught the Biden administration by surprise would be the understatement of the year
Ehhh…I’m not so sure about that one.
But why were they surprised? Joe Biden was elected – anyway, he campaigned – on the back of his vaunted “foreign policy experience.” After all, he had been in government for 120 years or whatever, so he had experience.
Well precisely. The fact of the matter is he did know better.
Sorry, I’m not buying any of this. They can’t possibly have been surprised. There is nobody on the planet that’s quite that stupid. And that by definition would include Joe Biden who after all is almost on the planet.
Look, let’s remember that Biden and Obama did precisely the same thing in Iraq in 2011. I’ve seen some people look at that and say that they learned absolutely nothing, but I look at this a little differently… I suggest that from their point of view there was nothing to learn from it. It went off swimmingly. They had achieved precisely the effect they wanted.
You can only call it a failure if the outcome wasn’t what they wanted. You don’t get the consistency of outcome without knowing precisely what you’re doing and pursuing precisely what you want.
You see, people who say things like that, and people like Roger who suggest that the Biden administration is surprised by the outcome in Afghanistan are all operating under the illusion that the Democrats want a positive outcome of our involvement there.
Let’s disabuse ourselves of the idea that the Democrats want anything but America on its knees, both internally and on the world stage.
Look at everything that they’ve done in the last 40 years.
Now consider what they’ve been doing since they attained both houses of Congress and the White House. nothing has changed. They keep serving up failure after failure… And we keep giving them the benefit of the doubt by suggesting that they’re surprised by those failures.
Everything that they’ve done over that time makes a lot more sense when you make the now rather obvious conclusion:
Democrats don’t want a positive outcome for America.
Look at the facts, people. There is no other logical conclusion to draw.
Eric Florack on August 17th, 2021
I think I should point out that Bill Gertz has been banging the drum about Chinese involvement in Afghanistan since the early 2000s. Observe for example a post I put up in 2007, where in I quoted Bill as saying:
New intelligence reveals China is covertly supplying large quantities of small arms and weapons to insurgents in Iraq and the Taliban militia in Afghanistan, through Iran.
U.S. government appeals to China to check some of the arms shipments in advance were met with stonewalling by Beijing, which insisted it knew nothing about the shipments and asked for additional intelligence on the transfers. The ploy has been used in the past by China to hide its arms-proliferation activities from the United States, according to U.S. officials with access to the intelligence reports.
Some arms were sent by aircraft directly from Chinese factories to Afghanistan and included large-caliber sniper rifles, millions of rounds of ammunition, rocket-propelled grenades and components for roadside bombs, as well as other small arms.
The Washington Times reported June 5 that Chinese-made HN-5 anti-aircraft missiles were being used by the Taliban.
According to the officials, the Iranians, in buying the arms, asked Chinese state-run suppliers to expedite the transfers and to remove serial numbers to prevent tracing their origin. China, for its part, offered to transport the weapons in order to prevent the weapons from being interdicted.
I said at the time:
This is hardly a new situation. Gertz has been beating this drum of Chinese involvement for years, now. There’s much in the way of evidence to back the idea, even absent Gertz’ reporting; China has been the Elephant in the room for a long time now. Consider the source of weaponry, during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.
Their weapons, such as this copy of an AK 47, have been showing up in Darfur for years. Even in theater, China has a history of supplying arms to the various factions in Afghanistan during the Russian occupation. That we are, if on a secondary level, seeing their involvement here, should be a surprise to nobody. The question becomes, what to do about it?
The usual left wing push towards a diplomatic solution, is clearly out of the question. We are already, supposedly, in full diplomatic relations with China. Obviously getting them to stop doing what they’re doing, is not possible via these means, or we would have done so some time gone. There is also the question of how much involvement China has been guilty of , and how much difference their involvement makes in the overall. I’m not all getting a good feel for the volume of Chinese involvement. Perhaps, that’s by design.
That does not make Chinese involvement in this situation, any less problematic , but it may necessitate a different response, initially.
Wherein lies part of the problems; our initial responses been to do nothing, thus far. Or put another way we have yet to make an initial response. The promises of this and previous administrations to quell terrorism and to reprimand its sources, whoever they are, would seem as a matter of logic to apply here. Yet, they have not. At least, they have not, overtly as of yet. one of the actions that’s been happening, has been specifically economic. China’s new pattern of growth, is explicitly dependent upon sales to the United States. Their economic policies (Example, their undervalued currency) bear this out.
Our destruction, therefore, as a country, would seem in the short term, to be counterproductive to their stated goals. Long term, however, would seem to be another matter. The Chinese have always taken the long view of both their future and that of the world. Perhaps this is a function of totalitarian governments; they tend not to be replaced every four years, or so, as they are here in the west, and therefore have the luxury of slow progress.
This point about China’s long-term involvement in Afghanistan would seem to bring Jerry’s comments from yesterday into new focus.
And has anybody noticed… Perhaps it’s just me…. the number of pictures of Taliban who are wearing Nikes?
Eric Florack on August 16th, 2021
Our occasional Chicago correspondent, Jerry Saperstein, sends this along:
===
I’ve previously expressed my opinion that Biden abandoned Afghanistan so precipitously because he was ordered to.
China is the first nation to recognize the new Taliban government:
“China extended an official welcome to Afghanistan’s new Taliban rulers. “China respects the right of the Afghan people to independently determine their own destiny and is willing to continue to develop … friendly and cooperative relations with Afghanistan,” Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying was quoted as saying.” (See https://mailchi.mp/67ffb0a853fa/what-happened-today-june-16-809293?e=75badee32c)
During the 1990s Taliban, China was not among the four nations that recognized the Taliban government.
Why is China so quick recognize the Taliban now? Why did Biden move so quickly, without offering adequate explanation to remove all American forces, particularly Air Force assets from the region.
Oh, by way, What has Hunter Biden been doing these days besides creating his $500,000 artworks? Is he perhaps running a side-hustle?
Well, yeah, about that… Say what you will, but the Biden administration appears to have found a way to divert attention away from Hunter Biden, the nursing home deaths, vote fraud and a number of other subjects that Democrats will doubtless find embarrassing.
One thing that Jerry doesn’t mention in this article but I believe he has in the past….Because of the Biden administration’s mishandling of the situation, the Taliban now have more Blackhawk helicopters than most of the Free World. I can’t imagine that China wouldn’t like to get their hands on a few of those. Along with everything else we’ve left behind of course. I will guarantee you that there’s a deal there someplace that’s been made between the Chinese and the Taliban.
Eric Florack on August 16th, 2021
If something requires government to make it work, it won’t.
Eric Florack on August 16th, 2021
One of the bylines I’ve been using on this website for many years now is that problem solutions require proper problem identification. You have to properly identify what the problem is before you can solve it.
Now, I have seen many commenters suggest that Joe Biden Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are incompetent.
But I say, no, that’s not the problem.
While I am completely sympathetic to the idea that they are not serving the cause of freedom, are certainly not upholding the Constitution and our most certainly not serving the cause of freedom, incompetence is not a word that I would use to describe their actions.
In discussion with others among the sphere, I have asked the question what have Biden, Schumer, and Pelosi done right? Is there anything that can be pointed to that has served the cause of freedom, overtly upheld the Constitution as written or forwarded the cause of America?
So far nobody’s been able to give me anything of the sort. There has been no answer to my query that satisfies any of the points it raises.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Democrats have had complete control of the United States government for the last 7 months and yet nobody can point to a positive aspect of that happening.
In every single case where some policy has been pursued by the Democrats, they have in fact gone in precisely the wrong direction…
Immigration, covid-19, taxes, spending, so-called voting reform, their middle eastern policy, their anti Israel stance, their pro-China stance, none of it satisfies the points raised by my question.
I respectfully submit to you that one does not obtain that kind of consistency of record without two things going for you…talent, and intent.
In observing the last 40 years of Democrat party history, there is no logical conclusion to draw but that they know precisely what they’re doing, and they intend to do it. There is no other logical conclusion to draw then the Democrats want America on its knees. And they’ve been quite effective in pursuing those policies. That’s not incompetence. That’s letting them off too easy.
They are all too competent at obtaining their actual goals. That’s anti- Americanism and in my view is just plain evil.
