Let the feminist put their collective heads together and find a sport in which women, not girls,  can complete without submitting to starvation diet,  from R. S. McCain, Other McCain:

[I]’s not a sport for grown-ups. Pubescent girls can perform at levels that no mature woman can hope to match, and the petite physique type which is ideal for women’s gymnastics is ideal in no other sport….
Responsible adulthood, however, requires us to resist the mindless consumption of whatever TV is selling, and “Olympic fever” is a made-for-TV commodity whose value should be viewed skeptically.

If there is to be a competition to determine which nation has the most highly-skilled diminutive adolescent girls, it is my patriotic duty to hope that America wins the contest. But I reserve the right to observe that this is a freakishly weird thing to compete over.

Call me old fashioned, but I see no purpose in promoting a pseudo sport where normal physical development is disqualification.

Which one belong back in her primary school?

Related question, is Paul Waldman an idiot. From American Prospect:

The widespread belief on the right that Barack Obama is a Muslim is one of the stranger features of this period in history. There are some of them who know that Obama says he’s a Christian but are sure that’s all an act designed to fool people, while he secretly prays to Allah. But there are probably a greater number who haven’t given it all that much thought; they just heard somewhere that he’s a Muslim, and it made perfect sense to them—after all, he’s kinda foreign, if you know what I mean. Rather remarkably, that belief has grown over time; as the latest poll from the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life shows, fully 30 percent of Republicans, and 34 percent of conservative Republicans, now believe Obama is Muslim. These numbers are about double what they were four years ago.

Let me see. Obama has a Muslim middle name. Was born to a Muslim parent. Was raised in Muslim country. Educated in Muslim schools, attended college as a foreign student. and wants women to wear hijabs, from Foreign Policy::

I just watched the video of Obama’s speech in Cairo, and I must say, I cringed when he said this line: “For over a thousand years, Al-Azhar has stood as a beacon of Islamic learning, and for over a century, Cairo University has been a source of Egypt’s advancement.”

[,,,]

The speech was mostly good, but it did contain some oddities, such as its repeated references to the hijab, the head scarf that many Muslim women wear. Obama seems to view this controversial article of clothing uncritically, reserving his comments for those, presumably in France and Britain, who support banning the hijab in public

Now it true that B. Hussein claims to be a Christian, but B. Hussein also claimed that the Obama Tax was not a tax.   That if you like your health care coverage, that you could keep it and that is would lower the cost of health care.

If Obama is either not smart enough, or honest enough, to realize or admit that he uttered his infamous phrase, “You didn’t build that”, is he smart enough to know if he is a Christian or not, or if not, honest enough to admit it?   Obama ‘s claim to be a Christian rests on attending the Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s church for some twenty years, but not remembering Wright’s sermons.   Obama is noted for neither intellect nor honesty.   We are left to take his word that he is a Christian.

Karen Klein, school bus monitor, Greece, NY, apparently having been retired on active duty, will take her seven hundred thousand dollars and make it official, from Rochester, NY,  Democrat & Chronicle:

A school bus monitor who was shown in a video being relentlessly bullied by a group of boys said Friday she will retire.

Karen Klein, a 68-year-old grandmother, said the decision to leave the job she held for three years was tough but wasn’t based on her now-infamous encounter with the mean-spirited seventh-graders who tormented her with profanity, insults and threats during a bus run as the school year wound down in June.

Good-bye and good ridding, don’t let the door hit you on the way out   I still at a loss what  school bus monitor is supposed to do, but in the infamous video Klein was not doing anything.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel claims to  know “Chicago values”, which somehow seem to exclude the First and Second Amendments.   While Emanuel’s claim to know Chicago values is dubious,  Anne Sorock,  seems to know how to blog, fom Legal Insurrection:

Drill picture for full size

Alderman Joe Moreno of Chicago, who represents a gentrified neighborhood close to the city’s downtown, has used “Aldermanic Privilege” to ban the construction of a Chick-fil-A restaurant because the owner supports traditional marriage based on his Christian faith. Boston Mayor Menino has now admitted he was wrong to suggest he would prevent a Chick-fil-A in downtown Boston.Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said that he supported Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno’s decision to ban Chick-fil-A because it doesn’t represent “Chicago Values” and besides, the restaurant would be “empty” because of it.

I wanted to test his proclamation about our denizens’ values. So I went to the downtown Chicago Chick-fil-A restaurant Wednesday at 1:30pm to see just how empty it was. It wasn’t.

Well past the lunch-hour rush, the restaurant was still noticeably crowded. It was also clean, the workers friendly, and while I had to wait to be served, the line moved quickly.

I’ll believe that Chicago politician oppose mixing business and politics, when they close down all the Chicago Starbucks.

Remember when the very mention of Fried Chicken was enough to set liberals on edge, saying that blacks were insulted? Well, this time,  it’s the Democrats pandering to the homosexual lobby.

Bill Barrow at the AP:

ATLANTA—All of a sudden, biting into a fried chicken sandwich has become a political statement.

Chick-fil-A, the fast-food chain known for putting faith ahead of profits by closing on Sundays, is standing firm in its opposition to gay marriage after touching off a furor earlier this month.

Gay rights groups have called for a boycott, the Jim Henson Co. pulled its Muppet toys from kids’ meals, and politicians in Boston and Chicago told the chain it is not welcome there.

Across the Bible Belt, where most of the 1,600 restaurants are situated, Christian conservatives have thrown their support behind the Atlanta-based company, promising to buy chicken sandwiches and waffle fries next week on “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.”

The latest skirmish in the nation’s culture wars began when Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press that the company was “guilty as charged” for backing “the biblical definition of a family.” In a later radio interview, he ratcheted up the rhetoric: “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at him and say, `We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.'”

So, we see Chicago Mayor-For-Life Rahm Emanuel, being the little Stalinist thug he’s always been:

Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday said he supports a Chicago alderman’s plan to block the opening of a new Chick-fil-A location in the city because the president opposes gay marriage.

Alderman Proco “Joe” Moreno told the Chicago Tribune on Tuesday he is against the fast food chain opening a store in his neighborhood and that he would deny the restaurant a permit in the 1st Ward. Emanuel told the Tribune in a statement he agreed with Moreno, noting “Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values.”

Lessee, here. Chicago Values…. The dead vote, corruption reigns supreme.  The place has a reputation for not paying it’s bills…..The Chicken place meanwhile, tends to make money, provide a good service and by all accounts, tends to pay it’s bills on time. Yeah, I’d say he’s right, Chic -Fil-A doesn’t share Chicago values. Thank God for that.

Here’s a news flash… What the mayor proposes… banning a business because the owner has a religion and isn’t afraid to speak of it, is unconstitutional. Government isn’t supposed to be picking winners and losers, and particularly where religion is concerned. Just as with Gun Control, that nasty old Constitution stands in the way, again.

Meanwhile, what of the Mayor’s involvement with Screwy Louie? As Manticotis….not exactly a stalwart on the subjeect of Religious freedom, he, points up at OTB:

The same day that story ran, the Chicago Sun-Times also reported that Emanuel was “welcoming” the assistance of Louis Farakhan and the Nation of Islam in combating the recent uptick in violence in the city:

Ignoring Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan’s history of anti-Semitic remarks, Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday welcomed the army of men dispatched to the streets by Farrakhan to stop the violence in Chicago neighborhoods

(…)

For the last two Mondays, black men in dress suits and bow ties fanned out across violence-plagued Chicago neighborhoods — first Auburn-Gresham, then South Shore — to form a human wall of protection against any sudden outbreak of gunfire.

The army of men, know as the Fruit of Islam, were led by Farrakhan, who ordered the show of force in response to last month’s brutal murder of seven-year-old Heaven Sutton.

Emanuel’s decision to steer clear of Farrakhan’s history of anti-Semitic remarks is a far cry from the 1994 controversy that followed former Mayor Richard M. Daley’s private meeting with Farrkakhan.

During the meeting, Daley prodded Farrakhan to work out his differences with Jewish leaders in talks arranged by the Commission on Human Relations. Daley even hinted that if those conversations did not take place, the Nation of Islam would have trouble winning the city approval needed for its planned development along the 79th Street commercial strip.

Jewish leaders refused to engage in the dialogue. They were so concerned about the mayor’s private meeting with Farrakhan they demanded an audience of their own to clear the air. Daley used that meeting to deny ever suggesting the give-and-take.

“There’s been a rather longstanding pattern where Minister Farrakhan has talked about wanting dialogue. There have even been a couple of instances where members of the Jewish community have met with him,” Michael Kotzin, director of the Jewish Community Relations Council, said at the time.

“Invariably, he’s been unchanged after that. They have felt betrayed by things he said to them. Been there. Don’t want to be there again and be put in that kind of box. All that happens is that he gains from those kinds of meetings a kind of credibility, legitimacy and stature. That’s all that would come of it.”

Farakhan’s history of anti-semitism is so well-known that it barely needs to be repeated, and it’s interesting that Emanuel is willing to ignore all of that and yet considers a private business that employees thousands of people and provides a product that people want to be so anathema that he’s willing to endorse a plainly unconstitutional effort to ban them.

Now, of course, Farrakhan IS a Muslim, hmmm? I guess that would be right online with the Obama WH setting up a council on terrorism, and not inviting the JOOOOOOZ….

(spit) Can the anti-Christian-Judeo, anti-western, anti Freedom leanings of the left be any more obvious?

And yes, I’m eating there. Regularly.

Barack Hussein Obama:   I have a dream, that through more draconian gun control I can turn the entire nation into one bloody Chicago.

Obama, via Vox Popoli:

“A lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals,” Mr. Obama said at the annual National Urban League convention in New Orleans. “They belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities.”

Reax:

Let me see here. If young Africans are regularly gunning down other young Africans in large cities where there are already stringent gun control laws, how is disarmingattempting to disarm white suburbanites and exurbanites going to reduce the level of violence in any way?

Little does Dim Won know that an AK-47 is ca machine gun and is already illegal.

Violence is disproportionately a black problem.  black perps  and black victims.    Law abiding blacks kept disarmed by corrupt politicians are gunned down by black criminals.    For their part the media largely ignores black on black crime and tries to depict whites as violent.  Remember while e ignoring almost  daily murders in Chicago, the media attempted to editorially lynch George Zimmerman because they mistakenly thought that he was white.

Politicians pretend the solution to solving black violence is to disarm whites.   I say the solution is to arm the blacks.    Let the citizens of Chicago exercise their God given Second Amendment rights and what crime plummet.

Sir Elton John believes love can cure AIDS. I hold that the answer is not love, but rather common sense behavior, from Liz Szabo, Useless Toady:

WASHINGTON – More than new therapies or vaccine, what the world needs now to end the AIDS epidemic, says musician Elton John, is love.

I have just been to the AIDS quilt and I have seen so much love for the dead,” said John, after visiting the National Mall in Washington, where panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, created to honor victims of the disease, stretch between the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol. “What we need is more love for the living.”

You don’t need quilts to prevent AIDS. What you need is common sense behavior. AIDS is the most preventable disease in the World. Sir Elton, for the large parts, AIDS is a self-inflicted disease. Find a raal problem.

The President in this ill-considered Elizabeth Warren-like claptrap revealed he is utterly divorced from the majority of Americans. We do not belittle success or those who achieve it. We do believe that with great effort and some luck we all have the chance to be successful, and we don’t think the provision of infrastructure, which we all pay for (but especially the well to do) takes away from the pride in our accomplishments. Even unsuccessful businesses depend on roads and bridges, police and firemen, after all.

From the Sharp Tack, Clarice Feldman,American Thinker.

Note to the cows, the gender feminists, the militant radical feminists, you have failed.   Real men still exist, from New York Daily News:

Three survivors of the Colorado movie-theater massacre escaped with minor wounds, but were left with broken hearts because their heroic boyfriends died saving them.

In final acts of valor, Jon Blunk, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves used their bodies to shield their girlfriends as accused madman James Holmes turned the Aurora cineplex into a shooting gallery.

Blunk’s girlfriend, Jansen Young; McQuinn’s girlfriend, Samantha Yowler; and Teves’ gal pal Amanda Lindgren made it out of the bloodbath — but they would have been killed had it not been for the loves of their lives

Well real men seem to exist in Colorado.   They apparently still don’t exist in Pennsylvania.   In State College the reprobates who seemed content to ignore the plight on any living victim, but are rather to raze  the inanimate statue of a dead man, from Doug Mataconis, Outside the Beltwy:

As anticipated, the statue of former football coach Joe Paterno was removed from in front of Beaver Stadium this morning:

The statue of the late Joe Paterno never molested any child, nor protected any child predator   The problem at Pervert State University nee Penn State, was not a corrupt football program, or even a corrupt athletics programs.    Rather the entire institution prostituted herself to protect a child molesting pervert.     Merely killing the football program, or the athletics department, will not remove the source of the corruption.

Addendum:(Eric)

Agreed, and well done, David. But what IS the source?

OK, granted that the protection of the football program was the reason Sandusky’s misdeeds went on for so long.  But let’s try a little thought experiment, to try and nail the cause down some… a little postulation.

What if Sandusky was found to be having sex with under-age girls? Does the abuse continue for as long as it did in this case?

What about sex with animals?

Somehow, I have the feeling that in such situations, Sandusky would have been removed, on far less evidence than we had, here, and that would have been that. I don’t see the football program having that kind of problem cutting off Sandusky, under those conditions.

So, what do we have here?

Well, I think you can figure this one out, dear reader. What would be the group most offended and most likely to raise legal hell if the case ever came to light without unshakable evidence against Sandusky? Hint: It’s not football fans.
