The Obama regime and the angry feminist are enraged over a supposed epidemic of rape on college campuses.   The problem, while they want to pretend the problem is rape, they refuse to call it rape.   Rather some nebulous crime called “sexual assault” has been invented and campus star cambers have been established to prosecute the number of males necessary to satisfy the both the demands of the regime and cows, i.e. angry feminists.

The problem for the regime and the cows is that is a well established system to deal with rape, to wit the criminal justice system.   The facts that the regime and the cows do not call their grievance rape and do not use the criminal justice system to prosecute it is sufficient evident that whatever this so-called sexual assault is, it is not rape.

That having been said, I say it long past time for the regime and the cows to stop equating opposition to campus star chamber proceeding to support for rape.   If a case amounts to rape, then call the police.  Otherwise shut and quit pretended that whatever happened if that dorm room amounts to rape.

Enter one George Will, from Washington Post:

Colleges and universities are being educated by Washington and are finding the experience excruciating. They are learning that when they say campus victimizations are ubiquitous (“micro-aggressions,” often not discernible to the untutored eye, are everywhere), and that when they make victimhood a coveted status that confers privileges, victims proliferate. And academia’s progressivism has rendered it intellectually defenseless now that progressivism’s achievement, the regulatory state, has decided it is academia’s turn to be broken to government’s saddle.

Consider the supposed campus epidemic of rape, a.k.a. “sexual assault.” Herewith, a Philadelphia magazine report about Swarthmore College, where in 2013 a student “was in her room with a guy with whom she’d been hooking up for three months”:

To which one Erin Gloria Ryan, Jezebel, responds:

[Will] begins his piece claiming that namby pamby wimpy pants liberals are turning colleges into victim factories because being a rape victim is kind of like being prom queen in Obama’s America (TM), but then goes on to acknowledge that rape is underreported because REASONS. If victimhood is so coveted, wouldn’t it stand to reason that rape would overreported? And where are the male victims of sexual assault in all of this? Where is the stigma they face, the fear and humiliation they must confront if they come forward to people with antique social attitudes like Will’s?

To Ryan I say, man up. If Ms Coed feels she was raped, then report the rape to the police. It there job to investigate crime. However if neither Ms Coed, nor State U, treat what ever happened to dod not happen to Ms Coed as felony, to wit rape, then quit screaming rape. Is that simple enough for a cow?

Eric Cantor wasted to be Speaker of the House.   In the process, he forgot to  represent Virginia District 7, from Erick Erickson, Redstate:

Cantor lost his race because he was running for Speaker of the House of Representatives while his constituents wanted a congressman. The tea party and conservatives capitalized on that with built up distrust over Cantor’s other promises and made a convincing case Cantor could not be trusted on immigration either. By trying to be both a Virginia congressman and a worthy successor to the Speaker in K-Street’s eyes, Cantor made it easy for conservatives to mount an under the radar case against him.

And Professor William A. Jacobson, Legal Insurrection:

The night of, but particularly the day after, there is much fine punditry as to why Cantor lost. And much political spin.

Looking back, with the complete benefit of hindsight, it seems that something changed along the way for Cantor. I can’t put a precise date on it, but looking back on our posts about Cantor, I’d put the change sometime in late 2011, after Republicans gained control of the House, Cantor became Majority Leader, and he set his sights on even higher positions of power.

Until then, our posts reflect Cantor as a tough fighter, the “bad cop” to John Boehner’s “good cop” in fighting Obamacare and the Democratic agenda. Cantor was the guy designated to take on Obama directly in the final weeks prior to Obamacare being signed into law

And from a constiuent of VA – 7, from Federalist:

For almost as long as I’ve lived here, which is coming up on 20 years now, the purpose of the seventh district has been to re-elect Eric Cantor every two years. It’s a strongly Republican district that spans across a very conservative stretch of rural Central Virginia, from the Richmond suburbs to Culpeper. So what were we going to do, vote for a Democrat? No, we were going to vote for Cantor.

And Cantor knew it. Because he didn’t have to worry too much about getting re-elected every two years, his political ambition was channeled into rising through the hierarchy of the House leadership. Rise he did, all the way up to the #2 spot, and he was waiting in the wings to become Speaker of the House.

I wonder if Virginia’s third senator is sweating bullets now.

With the morning, comes word that Eric Cantor lost his primary bid to a Tea Party candidate by the name of Brat, who I actually know very little about.

To say this is historic and powerful understates the point by several orders of Richter. For one thing, this would be the first time a sitting Whip has lost a primary bid since 1899.

The actual voting shows a nearly 40 point swing from what the Karl Rove types were telling him would happen…. and THAT with Cantor spending something like 24 times the money on his primary campaign.

There seems little doubt that there wasn’t going to be much Cantor could have done in the face of the Tea Party steamroller.  Consider that money difference. What could Cantor have done, spent 50 times the money?

All this is good news for conservatives, which as I’ve indicated several times in the past, Cantor isn’t.  It’s also as loud a wakeup call as has been issued yet to the GOP. There’s only one way to read this thing…. and I’ve said it before… the average American is more to the conservative side than anything the GOP leadership has coughed up since the Contract with America.

So, several points spring from this.

* Where principles are involved, money cant guarantee elections.

* Cantor was a terrible candidate, spending 24 times as much and being a little better than half as effective. (As a side note, one wonders if his spending record in Congress is of the like?)

*The Tea Party aint dead

*The Karl Rove types advising Cantor and his people should be looking at another line of work.  Their suppositions about what the american voter wants have yet again proven inaccurate at best.

* If it wants to survive, the GOP MUST give up on this misbegotten notion of the non-existent political center.  Or at least understand that the political center of the country cannot be measured by taking the extreme ends and dividing by two.  The actual political center is far to the right of what either Democrats AND Republicans have been offering up.

Mrs. Clinton tried to pass off to Diane Sawyer that she and her husband, B.J. were darn near as broke as one Jed Clampett, before he struck oil, when they were evicted the White House, via Legal Insurrection:

CLINTON: Well, you have no reason to remember, but we came out of the White House not only dead broke but in debt. We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to piece together the resources for mortgages for houses, for Chelsea’s education. You know, it was not easy. Bill has worked really hard and it’s been amazing to me. He’s worked very hard. First of all, we had to pay off all our debts. You know, you had to make double the money because of, obviously, taxes, and then pay off the debts and get us houses and take care of family members.

More, idib:

It is true, as The Fix at WaPo documents, that the Clintons left office with a lot of debt, much of it related to legal fees, which was paid down by 2004.

It’s equally true that the Clintons made financial deals before leaving office and soon thereafter that rendered the debt more than manageable, and generated tons of income.

In mid-December 2000, a month before Bill left office, Hillary signed a book deal with a near record $8 million advance:

Just how bad was Mrs. Clinton’s concussion?  She completely forgot about her eight million dollar book advance she pocketed, much like the china, before she left the White House.  A normal person gets an eight million dollar win fall, they celebrate In Mrs. Clinton’s case she pleads poverty.

It appears that Virginia Senate republicans have pulled a page out the democrat playbook and pulled off an Arlen Spector, via Outside the Bltway:

RICHMOND — Republicans appear to have outmaneuvered Gov. Terry McAuliffe in a state budget standoff by persuading a Democratic senator to resign his seat, at least temporarily giving the GOP control of the chamber and possibly dooming the governor’s push to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.

Sen. Phillip P. Puckett (D-Russell) will announce his resignation Monday, effective immediately, paving the way to appoint his daughter to a judgeship and Puckett to the job of deputy director of the state tobacco commission, three people familiar with the plan said Sunday. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter.

Political whores go always go for the money.   Had it not been for Spector, there would have been no need for Puckett.

As a species, Senators are not noted for their intellect.   Who else but brain challenged morons would elect brain damaged Dirty Harry Reid as their leader.   While Senator may lack intellectual ac cum.   While Senator get even dumber as they age, and Diane Feinstein has been a Senator since Andy Jackson was President, Senators grow even more vain as they getter older and senile.

Feinstein likes to think she is both intelligent and important.   She is zero out two.   However she is the chair the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.    As  such she is a position to demand attention, and vain enough to seethe when she is not.   The regime thought they could execute this five terrorists for one lousy deserter by ignoring Congress.   The regime has rubbed DiFi’s fur the wrong way, video:

Hat tip and more, National Review:

“Well it’s hard to be comfortable when you haven’t been briefed on the intricacies of carrying out this agreement,” Feinstein said.

The senator also said administration officials are not telling the truth when they claim senators are never briefed about “an ongoing operation.”

The operation was not so urgent and not so secret, that the regime was unable to brief Dirty Harry.

Point, the New York Slimes, via Ace:

The Rush to Demonize Sgt. Bergdahl

Four months ago, Senator John McCain said he would support the exchange of five hard-core Taliban leaders for the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. “I would support,” he told CNN. “Obviously I’d have to know the details, but I would support ways of bringing him home and if exchange was one of them I think that would be something I think we should seriously consider.”

But the instant the Obama administration actually made that trade, Mr. McCain, as he has so often in the past, switched positions for maximum political advantage. “I would not have made this deal,” he said a few days ago. Suddenly the prisoner exchange is “troubling” and “poses a great threat” to service members. Hearings must be held, he said, and sharp questions asked.

Counter point, Ace:

The confirmation is new — their speaking out publicly is new — but the rumors that they believed this are not.

These rumors appeared in the comments at this blog long ago, in 2009 or 2010. They had appeared on milblog comments boards. (They probably were published in the main posts of milblogs, too.)

Most people didn’t say anything then for reasons that should be obvious to the New York Times: Because we didn’t feel we should say anything negative about a soldier held in enemy hands based on second-hand rumors.

The regime knew, or should have known the truth for five years     Then so did Bergdahl brothers in arms.

SUPREME HEADQUARTERS

ALLIED EXPEDITIONARY FORCE

Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory!

I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!

Good Luck! and Let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.

Unlike the regime’s loss of Alfred E. Neuman, yesterday, the loss of Mika Brzezinski will hit the regime in voting age demographics, from Independent Journal Review:

In a roundtable discussion on Morning Joe on Wednesday, co-host Mika Brzezinski appears to be confounded about the Administration’s actions surrounding the Bergdahl prisoner exchange.

She asks journalist John Heilemann to address it, with three “tough” questions about the situation – about Bergdahl’s health, why Susan Rice repeatedly said Sgt. Bergdahl served honorably, and why the White House said they consulted Congress when, by all accounts, they didn’t.

Video:

If Brzezinski will not accept the regime’s lies, who will?

It was in the news recently that Dim Won, a/k/a Dumbo, b/k/a President Barack Obama had Mrs. Clinton over to the White House for lunch.   It not exactly like Mrs. Clinton actually needs the calories.   So why was Mrs. Clinton as the White House?    I suggest that Obama had Mrs. Clinton over to buy her support for his swap of five Taliban high value terrorists for the deserter Bowe Bergdahl:

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton gave a measured defense Monday of the Obama administration’s controversial decision to swap five Guantanamo Bay detainees for a U.S. soldier held hostage in Afghanistan, noting that many of America’s allies make similar deals.

The former secretary of state was asked about the exchange by the moderator at an event in a Denver suburb. Clinton said she did not second-guess people who make such tough decisions, but said the American tradition of caring for its citizens and soldiers was a “noble” one.

After all, fighting terrorism has never exactly been a priority for the Clintons, from Angel Fire:

By now you have probably heard that President Clinton has signed “clemency” for eleven Puerto Rican political prisoners and prisoners of war. While this is exciting and hopeful news as it shows that Clinton is willing to do something controversial (and right), there is a catch. The agreement, which the prisoners have not agreed to sign as of yet, restricts their political activities once they are released–it will restrict them from associating with others in the independence movement, they would have to sign a statement renouncing the use of violence, and they would still have to adhere to parole restrictions. (None of these prisoners were convicted for acts of violence in the first place and have served unusually long sentences for the “crimes” they were convicted of.)

The B.J Clinton spent eight years as president, during which time the United States suffered eight major terrorist attacks. the only thing that motived B.J. to even feign an interest in combating global terror was an attempt distract the nation from Monica Lewinsky.

End the tranny insanity, from the biologically confused Associated Press:

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A transgender man who claims he was barred from using the men’s room at Lyons Pool in Tompkinsville says the encounter with Parks Department workers left him feeling “disgraced” and “humiliated.”

“I’m no different than anyone else,” Bryan Ellicott, 24, a former Staten Islander, said during a Manhattan press conference on Tuesday, a day after filing suit against the city.

Ellicott — who has been living openly as a male since 2012 and is currently transitioning from female to male

What is the basis for Ellicot’s claim that “I’m no different than anyone else?”  Normally people who use the men’s room are well men.  Ellicot is not.  That makes her different.

Warning, do not drink the climate change Kool-Aid,  Warmists issue press release, disguised a scientific report, Washington Post publishes it, as it were news:

People don’t take hurricanes as seriously if they have a feminine name and the consequences are deadly, finds a new groundbreaking study.

Female-named storms have historically killed more because people neither consider them as risky nor take the same precautions, the study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences concludes.

Until 1979 all hurricanes we given female names.

It is interesting.
Outside the Beltway has become, over the years, increasingly INSIDE the beltway, and left-leaning, largely by way of its commentariat. But the final measure of that increasingly left leaning slant at the moment, a total lack of any commentary… any at all… on the Bergdahl  mess.

The easiest and most obvious conclusion to come to for this lack is that there’s no way to make the thing look good for the current administration.  I keep hoping to see my perception of the matter is off…. but….
