I say the best way to get rid of stupid laws is to fully enforce them. Victim disarmament and Gun Free Safety Zones, read free fire areas, are both stupid ideas:

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) – Buffalo Police have arrested 52-year-old Dwayne Ferguson of Buffalo and charged him with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon including having a loaded weapon on school grounds.

Buffalo Police say he was inside the Harvey Austin School this afternoon with a handgun.

Ferguson is the president of MAD DADS, a group that works to reduce gang violence in Buffalo.

But just who is Dwayne Ferguson, from Thomas Lifson, American Thinker:

As he faces felony charges for bringing a gun onto a school campus, Dwayne Ferguson may be contemplating the wisdom of the New York SAFE Act for which he tirelessly campaigned as a community activist in Buffalo. The Buffalo News reports:

(…)

Honest mistake or not, Ferguson is accused of committing a felony and now faces prison. Perhaps the real mistakedisregarding armed attacker would face no armed opposition on campus. This reality seems to be occurring to some of his supporters:

I believe that Ferguson had no criminal intent when he carried his legal weapon on campus.  Yet Ferguson is, or at least was, an advocate of  making felons out anybody who dared exercise the God given right to carry a weapon in so-called  Gun Free Safety Zone.  I would find it ironic if Ferguson cot a long period of rent free living, at my expense, to contemplate the wisdom, or utter lack thereof, of his hoplophobic political agenda.

It is hard to replace a legend. The late Johnny Carson (Tonight Show 1962-1992) was such a legend. Jay Leno replaced Carson, and kept the Tonight Show of top for twenty years. No minor feat. On February 6, Leno bowed out on top, video:

Keep them jokes a rolling Jay.

Personally I think Mormon theology to be flaky.  Just me, but on the other hand Mormonism does not bother me, nor do feel is entitled to less constitutional protects, via Betty Cracker, Balloon Juice:

Legal experts gobsmacked after British judge orders Mormon leader to prove faith’s origins

A disgruntled former Mormon has convinced an English court to file two summonses to appear against Thomas S. Monson, the current president of the Mormon Church.

Reax:

This will never get anywhere, but I like the idea:

Hint, it is called faith.  No religion, to include global warming, can long survive if required to prove the factual basis for their belief.  There is a easy way to end this type of suit in the UK, file a analogous suit but name Islam as the defendant.  The Brits feel safe in attacking a peaceful religion like Mormonism.  They have got the nerve to attack Muslims in similar way.

snark2.jpgThe Snark of the Day, from Larry Elders, Real Clear Politics:

Media justify the attention on so-called “Bridgegate” because, after all, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is a likely GOP presidential candidate. Why does Hillary Clinton get a pass over the serious allegation that she bullied a woman who claims Bill raped her?

The two Clintons and joined at the ass

Michelle Obama and plump rumpIt seems obvious that FLOTUS, (Fat Lady of the United States). Michelle Obama knows about diet and exercise is that her plan is not working, from Jammie Wearing Fool, “Shock Study: $500 Million Obama Anti-Obesity Effort Fails to Accomplish Anything:”

With the obesity epidemic in full swing and millions of American living in neighborhoods where fruits and vegetables are hard to come by, the Obama administration thought it saw a solution: fund stores that will stock fresh, affordable produce in such areas.

But now, three years and $500 million into the federal Healthy Food Financing Initiative, there’s a problem: A study suggests it’s not working.

Adding supermarkets to areas with short supplies of fresh produce does not lead to improvements in residents’ diets or health outcomes, according to a report published Monday in the February issue of Health Affairs.

A fat lady who lives in a White House should not be giving advice on diet and exercise.

Hope you didn’t make a mistake on your Obamacare application, because the administration has yet to figure out how they’re ever going to fix it.

And to think, the tea party is called evil because the oppose big government.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Gina McCarthy is urging so-called scientists to push the Obama administration’s political agenda, via Karen, Lonely Conservative:

“I need you now more than ever to speak the truth,” McCarthy said. “I need you to stand up together with us and explain what the science is telling you.

“To tell people that science and technology improvements will allow us to take action moving forward that meets the needs of this president as he has charged EPA, which is to look at climate change as something where we can innovate and we can move forward to grow the economy, to grow jobs, to understand how we’re producing sustainable, livable communities,” McCarthy said.

Rubbish!   Truth is not a scientific concept.    A scientific theory can never be proven true.  A theory can only be dis-proven.   As a theory can never be proven, it can never be asserted to be a fact.   Albert Einstein’s theories of relativity are profound but they are not facts.   As opposed to Michael Mann style hockey rubbish, Einstein helped explain the Universe.   In contrast the Warmists can not even explain the weather.   As the Warmists are unable to explain the weather,  they can’t explain how to fix it.

Despite the liberal’s desire to deem everything normal, it was quite apparent the Sandy Hook Elementary School, Adam Lanza,  was one sick puppy.   You just don’t know how sick, in the perverted and not medical sense.   Robert Stacy McCain has the details, that the main stream media will never go near.   Needless to say the late Master Lanza was not a member in good standing with the Junior League of the National Rifle Association.  Lanza was member in good standing of a media protected group.  Beyond the fact that Lanza used to gun to kill, the main stream media will now say nothing about him.

[A] tweet sent out on the official MSNBC Twitter page accused the “right wing” of hating biracial families. After backlash, the tweet was quickly deleted. MSNBC tried to backtrack, saying this “isn’t who they are,” but they aren’t fooling anyone.

Left Coast LifterHaving blogged about UP 4014 a/k/a Big Boy, we continue with the Big Toys for Big Boys theme from Judy Rife, Record Online:

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The supersized crane that will build the new Tappan Zee Bridge arrived at a private marine yard in Jersey City, N.J., Thursday after completing a 40-day journey from San Francisco.

The crane, now dubbed the I Lift NY, will remain docked here until spring, when its owner, Tappan Zee Constructors, will move it north, anchor it next to the bridge and put it to work.

TZC originally had the mammoth crane custom-built to assist in the construction of a new section of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The crane sits on a 384-foot barge and has a boom of 328 feet and a lift capacity of 1,900 tons, making it one of the world’s biggest.

The crane, pulled by tugs, left the West Coast for the 6,000-mile trip on Dec. 22.

I wonder what I Lift New York could do with Big Boy?

snark2.jpgThe Snark of the Day, from Ronald Reagan, via Robert Knight, American Thinker:

“It doesn’t seem right to reduce a man’s take-home pay with taxes and then send him a government dole which robs him of the feeling of accomplishment and dignity which comes from providing for his family by his own efforts. By the same token, we feel that the able-bodied recipient should be given the maximum opportunity to support his family by doing work in his community which will benefit the community.”

Lyndon B. Johnson sold the War on Poverty as means get people out of poverty.  Twenty trillion dollars later, it is apparent that Johnson great domestic war, like he great foreign war, has failed.

It’s pretty clear Democrats have little hope of retaking Congress this year, but on the upside their ugliness may decline a bit as Henry ‘Nostrilitus’ Waxman has announced his retirement. As always, he goes out covering himself in mud.

Jim Moran, Henry Waxman, can Speaker Tablecloth be far behind?

Do they say in the Windy City, Chicago:  Don’t bring a tired, and rebutted, argument to a policy discussion?   When, even if  the did Dim Won, a/k/a Barack Obama would not understand it anyhow, from Dim Won’s State of the Union, 3014, via Robert Stacy McCain:

You know, today, women make up about half our workforce, but they still make 77 cents for every dollar a man earns. That is wrong, and in 2014, it’s an embarrassment.
Women deserve equal pay for equal work.
You know, she deserves to have a baby without sacrificing her job. A mother deserves a day off to care for a sick child or sick parent without running into hardship. And you know what, a father does too. It is time to do away with workplace policies that belong in a “Mad Men” episode. This year let’s all come together, Congress, the White House, businesses from Wall Street to Main Street, to give every woman the opportunity she deserves, because I believe when women succeed, America succeeds.

Maybe Dim Won just didn’t say deserve often enough?  Simply saying the word deserve, over and over, does not make it so.

Reax:

So here we have a myth (women “still make 77 cents for every dollar a man earns”), a slogan (“equal pay for equal work”), and a number of vague rhetorical gestures toward policy to overcome a mythical disparity in accordance with an egalitarian slogan.

Thomas Sowell, 2008, video:

Hat tip video and reax, Scott Johnson, Powerline:

Thomas Sowell has made a cottage industry of debunking this bogus statistic. Dean Kalahar drew on Sowell’s research for the 2012 column “The female wage gap is a major economic myth.” Most recently, this past August, feminist Hanna Rosin joined the party in the Slate column “The gender wage gap lie.”

Men and women are different. They make different decisions with different economic outcomes.

Wendy Davis (Harvard)The perception in all urination contests is that the combatants are equals. Hence Dave’s rule of pissing contests is never piss down hill. For example when President Fifty Seven States gets into a urination contest with Rush Limbaugh he puts the President of the United States at the same level as syndicated talk radio host. Not smart.

Now to Wendy Davis, she was not always a blond and she once was smart enough to get admitted to both Texas Christian University and Harvard Law School. Then at some point Davis dyed her hair blond and turned into an intellectual blond as well. The blond who deems herself smart enough to be governor of Texas just let herself get sucked into a urination contest with a twenty something blogger, with no college degree, no law degree and no elective office.  See She Said, She Said, Barracuda Brigade.

Moreover Davis denies  any of what Palin says in true.  Yet much of what Palin said was her opinion or what Davis put in official campaign biography.   The State of Texas needs a governor who can tackled real problems and not a blond who can not handle a twenty year old blogger.

Addendum: I might quibble a just a bit with the language, but I like Emily’s thought, from Naked DC:

Now, it seems, Wendy has finally found someone on her level to spar with. No, it’s not a fellow graduate of Harvard Law School, or someone whose intellectual and media gravitas would help build a foundation for a recovery strategy. Nope. Wendy Davis is going head to head with Bristol Palin.

Mrs. Davis has put herself in a no win situation. There no outcome of urination contest with twenty year old blogger that Mc make Mrs. Davis look like a competent candidate for governor. Please pass the popcorn.
