Ponder the idea that Hillary Clinton’s State Department gave ambassador Chris Stevens less in the way of security, than Hillary Clinton herself now has on the campaign trail.

Addendum:   (David)  Might I add,  Not only did Ambassador Stevens get less security than herself, Mrs. Clinton, and he less access to her than Sidney Blumenthal.    Ambassador Stevens was pleading for more security, but could not contact Mrs. Clinton.    Unlike Ambassador Stevens, Bhumenthal had Mrs. Clinton’s private email.

Professor Robert Reich, a/k/a Little Bobby, offers his two cents on how to boost the Obama regime economy, from Puffington Post:

Have you noticed how often conservatives who disagree with a policy proposal call it a “job killer?”

They’re especially incensed about proposals to raise the federal minimum wage. They claim it will force employers to lay off workers worth hiring at the current federal minimum of $7.25 an hour but not at a higher minimum.

But as Princeton University economist Alan Krueger pointed out recently in the New York Times, “research suggests that a minimum wage set as high as $12 an hour will do more good than harm for low-wage workers.”

That’s because a higher minimum puts more money into the pockets of people who will spend it, mostly in the local economy. That spending encourages businesses to hire more workers.

Professor Reich uses the old one study trick. Find but a single study that purports to support your argument, wave the study around, and declare the debate resolved.

Professor Reich frame his support for a fifteen dollar federal minimum wage as moral question. Which means he will to use the jack-booted thugs of the federal government to support his individual view of morality.

Professor Reich seems to be arguing that raising the federal minimum wage to fifteen dollars an hour will somehow help the economy because taking money from person A and giving it to person B will by some magic boost  the economy. Professor Reich argument’s assumed that person A would not otherwise spend or invest his money but rather store it a mattress.

On what planet does Professor Reich live?

snark2.jpgThe Snark of the Day, from Jake Tapper:

“I think what a lot of people are wondering is, gee, wouldn’t it have been great for Ambassador Stevens to have been able to actually reach Secretary Clinton with the same ease that Sidney Blumenthal apparently could?”

Source: Leon H. Wolf, Red State

Mrs. Clinton was clearly more concerned about the business of the Clinton Foundation, Blumenthal, than that of the United States, her ambassador to Libya Chris Stephens.

Joe Biden has developed a reputation over the years of being the idiot that even the villagers have lost patience with.

Okay, I will admit that he has his supporters, some of them quite rabid in their support, thing is, the actual numbers are vanishingly small. And the thing is, Biden is not going to be picking up any significant support given the platform he’d have to run on. That being a continuance of the policies of the Obama administration. Notice that at least to some degree everyone that was on that stage the other night at the Democrat debate, attempted to separate themselves from the wildly unpopular Obamaism, in varying degrees. Biden apparently understands  he would be less able to perform such an Obama- ectomy, than the rest of them, given that he by far was more directly involved with that administration than the rest of them, even more so than Hillary Clinton, arguably.

How much the much ballyhooed death of his son entered into his decision, I don’t know. I suspect that the reason that was hit on so heavily was trying to elicit a sympathy vote. That’s of course about as cold and as calculating a move as you would expect to see from any of them, including Hillary Clinton. I would normally consider it a stretch for him, but given he still has advisors doing a lot of his thinking for him, I wouldn’t put it past him.

But in the end, even that didn’t help. He knew it, and decided not to run.

The Democrats are a lost cause for this election cycle and they know it. The ironic part here is that of all of them, Biden, recognizing he had no chance whatsoever was the smartest one of them all and decided to get out while the getting was good.

And so, what many saw as the only salvation possible for the Democrat tickets for this presidential cycle, waddles off into the sunset. We are left with the spectacle of the old socialist, and Bernie Sanders. And of course a rather largest field of also-rans such as Malloy for example, all scrambling to see how much of other people’s money they can give away for the purpose of buying votes. Let’s face it, they’re not going to get anywhere.

So as it was last time, this is the Republicans race to lose. And that, as I have been saying for years now, comes down to them actually being smart enough to embrace conservatives instead of actively working against them as they have been. At the moment I regard those chances of something less than 50 50. But that’s another post.

Slow Joe, a/k/a Joseph Biden, Vice President of the United States and decided to deprive Saturday Night Live from tons of inspiration and t0 spare the country from his effort to try and lie his way into the White House, from Steve Hayward, Power Line:

Joe Biden has decided against running for president. Which will deprive Americans of loads of free comedy. I suspect this pretty much clears the way for Hillary—barring an indictment by the Justice Department. I expect that to happen about as soon as we master teleportation, bring peace to the Middle East, and find a shred of moderation in Obama

Wannabe terrorist family to self-deport to Qatar, from Dallas Morning News:

After finally meeting President Obama last night, Ahmed Mohamed and his family plan to leave the United States for the foreseeable future.

Schools from across the country have made offers to Ahmed since he was arrested at Irving’s MacArthur High last month—his homemade clock confused with a hoax bomb, transforming him into a symbol of perceived anti-Muslim bias.

But apparently it was an offer from the Middle East that most intrigued the family. The Mohameds announced today that they’ve accepted a foundation’s offer to pay for the 14-year-old’s high school and college in Doha, Qatar, which Ahmed visited a few weeks ago as he began a world tour.

Clock Boy, don’t let the door hit you on the way out, and don’t come back.

So-called green energy is just the old dirty energy in barrel painted green, from Investors Business Daily:

President Obama once praised it as a shining example of America’s clean energy future. “With projects like this one,” he said at the site of a solar plant just before construction started, “we’re putting Americans to work producing clean, home-grown American energy.”

[…]

In its first year, Ivanpah emitted 46,000 metric tons of CO2. That’s about as much as a Frito Lay plant in Bakersfield emits.

How is that possible? It turns out that the Ivanpah plant uses natural gas to function.

First, it burns natural gas to pre-heat the water at the top of the three towers before the sun comes up. Then, the Press Enterprise explains, it “has auxiliary gas boilers that kick in whenever cloud cover blocks the sun.”

End the welfare payments to green energy.  We will save tax dollars., energy costs and save birds in the process.

The back bench Senator from Vermont and faux presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has achieved enough success in quixotic quest for the presidency that sober adults, such as George Will, and less than sober ones like Bill Maher are starting to examine his laundry list of taxpayer funded freebies and questioning how Bernie is going to pay for them, from Red State:

The latest episode is his encounter with Bernie Sanders and their discussion on the cost of the laundry list of free stuff Sanders promised America during the debate. Maher did everything but quote Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.”

Face it Maher likes everyone of Bernie’s freebies, but can’t convince himself that Sander’s economics makes any sense. Then Senator Sander’s laundry list is shorter and cheaper than Mrs. Clinton. However, Maher is Clinton donor and Mrs. Clinton likes to avoid real interviews.

Your papers please!  Welcome to the Obama police state.

It has come to this.    Liberals hold that is violation of rights to require a picture identification in order to vote.  Yet at the same time, a mere state issued identification is not good enough to allow you to board an airplane:

The TSA will demand that residents of those four states use passports rather than drivers licenses to board flights next year. About 9.5 million drivers licenses have been issued in those states, according to government licensing records.

Hat tip: Chicks of the Right.

The Supreme Court has deemed there is a Right to Travel, but aside from welfare migration they ignore their own supposed right.   Maybe I should claim to traveling to a state with higher welfare benefits?

Captain John McCain, USN (retired) is genuine war hero. Captain McCain declined parole from the Hanoi Hilton, knowing that he would be continued to tortured. On the other hand, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, US Army, is a deserter who if true justice were to served would be executed by firing squad. Yet the New York Times chooses to attack a war hero in Captain McCain to defend a deserter, Bergdahl:

Two military officers who have conducted lengthy reviews of the circumstances that led to the abduction of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in Afghanistan in 2009 have concluded that he should not face jail time for having left his base.

Senator John McCain, the chairman of the Armed Services Committee, however, seems to think he knows better. Mr. McCain, a Navy pilot who was held captive for five years during the Vietnam War and tortured, told The Boston Herald that Sergeant Bergdahl is “clearly a deserter,” and threatened to hold a congressional hearing into the case “if it comes out that he has no punishment.”

[…]

Mr. McCain is certainly not the first politician to have spoken irresponsibly about the case. Donald Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate, said recently that
Sergeant Bergdahl is a “traitor” who should have “been executed.” But Mr. McCain’s remarks are particularly troubling because Gen. Robert Abrams, the top commander at Fort Bragg, N.C., who will make the final decision on the Bergdahl case, will most likely appear before Mr. McCain’s committee for confirmation should he be promoted to a higher post in the future.

The Slimes loves McCain when attacks republicans, but hates Cain when he attacks a deserter. What you expect from the Slimes.

Addendum:    While I am at it, a large FY to one Ken P. Vogel of Politico, for disparaging First Lieutenant James Webb service as United State Marine in Vietnam.

The democrats have became the party of surrender.  They want to surrender our freedom to illegal immigrants.   They favor unrestricted school shootings and abortions.   Mrs. Clinton won the crowd in Las Vegas, but think she loses America, from Erick Erickson, Red State:

The Democrats, in playing to their crowd in the debate hall, went for the echo chamber. They are a bunch of big spenders who will take our guns and surrender our national sovereignty to hostile powers with no clue on how to stand up to Putin. They are for killing kids and burdening small businesses with new government programs while refusing to cut anything. They care more about global warming than helping working families.

The crowd in Las Vegas may have gone wild, but most Americans are now out in the back yard burying their guns and wallets.

Hillary Clinton won the debate. She will win the Democratic nomination. And she will lose the general election because the Democratic echo chamber has completely drifted away from where the American people are.

The question, did Mrs. Clinton show enough to convince Slow Joe Biden to stay in Delaware?

Eric Florack on October 14th, 2015

There is a lesson in last night’s Democrat Party presidential debate for the Republicans. Particularly, for the GOP establishment.

According to the polling Bernie Sanders won last night’s debate hands down. Now, of course, that’s not good news for Hillary Clinton.

But the real lesson here is that when given a choice between X & X Lite, the American people will choose X every time.

So why is the GOP establishment pushing these John Q Milquetoast moderates? Why are they not embracing actual conservatives?

Nice day, today, temperature in the seventies, and a fitting close to the last day of the last version of summer.   By the way, it is also Columbus Day, from Brian Regal, Star-Ledger:

Our attitudes about Columbus have changed over the years. He has gone from great and intrepid “Admiral of the Ocean Sea,” braving unknown terrors to lead the way to a New World, to a conniving scoundrel intent on enslaving the native people, and back again. Regardless of how one feels about Columbus — hero or villain — his voyages cannot be dismissed as unimportant. Unlike all who came before him, Columbus opened a floodgate of follow-on explorers, mercenaries and, eventually, permanent settlers. In the North, this meant a horde of people made up in various parts by schemers, dreamers, religious fanatics, the genuinely pious, escapees from turmoil, war refugees and other lost souls looking for a way out. They all helped create the United States.

[…]

Columbus saw his status rise beyond earlier explorers, however, because he filled the young nation’s need for an individual hero. He ticked all the right boxes: European, Christian and male.

Why are what we might call indigenous American people, labeled as Indians?  Columbus thought that he had sailed to India. and applied what he thought to be an appropriate description.  Sadly, over five hundred years latter, nobody has yet offered a better one.  Sobeit.

It is interesting, as Regal points out, that while nothing new has been learned about Columbus, and indeed never will, attitudes concerning Columbus has changed radically.

Did Columbus discover American?  Close enough.  We know he got here and nobody has had to re-discover the continent.

So Columbus was evil because he was a European, Christian and male.  Sadly, for Mrs. Clinton, she is not quite old enough to have discovered the continent.  There simply is no non-European, non-Christian or non-Male who fills the bill.  So Columbus is credited with, of blamed for, the discovery of American.  Nobody has yet offered a better one. Sobeit.
